Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

srsly, how do they make 3d models look exactly like 2d sprites??? o_O

Arksys are wizards.

Console better not add ONE new character. The fuck?

Hope the EU release will not be atleast half a year after. Importing the game is fine and all but i can’t imagine anyone beside the most hardcore players would do that. Never seen a FG which is successfull after it has been released after half a year or later when it was already released in NA. GG is not exactly known either.

Theyre not counting on EU im assuming

I read that as ā€œSin or his motherā€

I hope Dizzy shows up soon.

There’s already a post linking to translated bits of the CGWorld article.

Tl:dr, basically some advanced cel shading combined with no interpolation to make them move like sprites without the jarring smoothness that most cel shaded productions have that give them away as 3D.

That’s actually exactly what happened with Chronophantasma…and I actually did import that game.

If they were doing that same stupid shit with Xrd I’d probably import that too.

Does that mean a Console version opening at E3?

I wonder, are Aksys games speaking out of turn or are Arcsys throwing US consumers a bone a la Capcom and the early international release of USFIV? No news of a local (japanese) release on the Xrd homepage, still listed as TBC. Doesn’t make sense.

It does seem odd. I mean, doesn’t P4AU come out in fall well? That could potentially hurt sales.

Exactly, either wires are getting crossed or this is some kind of new marketing strategy.

I’m going to be broke come this fall

GG Xrd+Fight Stick
Samurai Warriors 4
Batman Arkham Knight
DRIVECLUB
Battlefield: Hardline

The new Mortal Kombat might also be coming this fall. Fuck

R.I.P. to my wallet.

This flew way under the radar. Didn’t even see anything about it on Neogaf this morning. Hopefully it’s legit.

In addition to what @d3vā€Œ already stated, the 3D models are essentially rendered ā€œflatā€, as in they’re drawn inside an invisible offscreen image that then gets plastered on top of the screen. This keeps the 3D models visually appearing the same, but lacking depth information, so they appear flat. Sort of like if you took a picture of a clay model - you get that the clay model is a 3D object, but taking a picture of it removes depth information, so it looks ā€œflatā€ in the picture. Donkey Kong Country Returns uses a similar technique as well, if I recall correctly.

Atlus is publishing P4AU. Xrd will most likely be Aksys, or Sega.

Aksys according to IGN

Still not Atlus though which is the point.

I’m just curious how it will run/look on ps3. This is coming from someone who doesn’t own a ps3 or ps4. I’m buying a sony console specifically for this game but I might try to save money by getting a ps3 if it’s virtually the same as the ps4 version so I don’t have to mod my stick and pay for ps+. I would like for it to be the same as the ps4 but I have my doubts :frowning:

We’ll see at e3

The PS3 version will probably be 720 60fps, while the PS4 gets 900p or higher. I just don’t see them giving us PS4 owners a straight up port

But don’t quote me on that, i’m no tech head.
