Unless you’re in Cali, there’s trouble getting the game due to… American’s network?
Well, that’s what they told our arcade. However, once Google Fiber drops, they may reconsider. So who knows.
Granted, I feel like if any arcade stands a chance, they will need Nesica for any of the latest games. Japan so greedy
yeah 2h launched on nh in all loketests and the final game but its horizontal range is noticeably reduced. on ch it launches the same way, no vacuum effect. besides dot i dont know what would reach. maybe 5k x mappa, but all of slayer’s moves seem to have lower hitstun now, so i imagine that after mappa on an airborne opponent, you cant do anything more. and something like that never worked well on anyone except the heavier characters anyway. i also cant figure out why reload-style air chains are in the game but j.2k is still in. in the videos ive seen, the players have not been able to set up higher damage relaunches with j.2k and tacking it on near the end of an air chain always seems to be a black beat.
unless the rc system saves the day or people figure out something magical with helter skelter or that new slash move, dude is looking gross. sure its week 1 but its not like nobody in japan has played #r before.
Instant j.2K apparently connected on a standing opponent, so maybe SS>j.2K will be a thing, since it apparently launched and allowed for a rejump. The word for word was “j.2K -> j.S(2hits) -> land -> 5P -> air combo(be he drops it)”
I think he seems a bit nerfed at the moment, and I have high hopes stuff will be figured out in due time. And if not, I’m sure ArcSys will be smart and give him the appropriate tools.
Technically, didn’t they already do that with XX? I mean, I’m sure as hell I-No’s booty makes her count as black. No way in hell that’s a white girl booty that’s for sure.
Asian women don’t look old until they hit 60 so Baiken is still good. Anji better jump on the milf train soon before that menopause, gotta make those rare jape babbies
I like it so far. The game is less about long combos and more about the “Shorter” combos that set up Okizeme.
I’m holding judgement on Slayer for now. His links and optimal combos are still a little while off (I’ll give Japan a week before they optimise Slayer) and so far I’ve only seen fairly basic stuff. But from what I’ve gathered. Incoming Slayer Ramblings
His big damage comes from RC’s and Air hits. with the occasional CH normal. With the removal of BBU you’re forced to juggle your opponent to receive that infamous Slayer damage. His 6H Air hit has been the most common if seen thus far with typical 6H Pilebunkers loops. It nets reasonable damage but I know it’s not even close to optimal.
His crosswise heel sets up some fantastic juggles, still. ending in a nice hard knockdown, though it comes at a small damage reduction from what I’ve seen.
Dead on Time. A move I’ve not seen yet. No idea what it works like and if you can end the round from it on CH.
6P Still lives on. Straight up beats tons of moves. Saw it laugh straight through Greed Sever more than once, no combo potential midscreen though which kinda sucks.
c.S > f.S x2 xx Mappa works. Decent damage, too.
“Its late” is absolutely hilarious and you should burst if you get hit by it.
Overall:
Happy with how he looks. Definately strong. Definately still Slayer. Can’t wait to see optimal combos and links.
How can people complain about roster size with this game? While I love a lot of the missing characters, we are better of with a good sized roster (and 14 well made characters is a good size) than the dog shit huge roster of current SF4. For a game that doesn’t have teams, 38+ characters is just too fucking much.
I’m not worried about the initial roster size in a vacuum, I’m worried about how the updates will be sold. 14 characters at launch is fine if future characters/patches are reasonably priced, not so much if they take the approach they did with blazblue and expect people to rebuy the game for full retail price every year.
They aren’t gonna change an approach that worked well for them on Blazblue, IMHO.
This link has been making the rounds, it’s Arcsys job ads for character and background modelers and character animators, nothing earth-shattering but you can see models for Xrd and Blazblue being worked on and a few storyboards: http://www.arcsystemworks.jp/official/company/3djob/index_3djob.html
Baiken was born in pre-destroyed Japan which makes her really old. Japan got destroyed in the crusades so from what I’m reading she could be greater than 90 years old. I-No says similar stuff to her.
Kliff can become younger by channeling his Ki and ‘That Man’ supposedly is kept alive by a ‘retrograded aging technology’. Essentially you don’t have to grow elderly in the GG universe if you have the right connections. Hell Slayer and his wife are ancient.
Also character getting nerfed. Honestly, every character looks nerfed noticeably but Faust just from the removal of Force Breaks. So a character being nerfed doesn’t seem to mean much at this stage as the cast has changed so much.
