When I play against people in #R, I typically pick Slayer or Millia, though in AC, I use Venom, and Millia. I only use Slayer to be annoying with bites and such… I’m no strategist with him, and without the bite loop, I can’t do much. I don’t really like him much. Millia’s my favorite character. Venom’s ball variations are just amazing though.
While I do love my FS3, It’s a square gate, and I can’t play on that. Likewise, my Cthulu stick is the one that I use most because it’s compatible with PS2 as well, and my EX is Xbox only. The HRAP is completely broken, needs new switches on all the buttons, needs a new PCB… It was dual modded with a cthulu, and my friend connected it into the PS2 while it was still connected to the PC… blew the PCB up and fried every button… That theoretically shouldn’t have happened, but the stick was smoking.
I’m a long time Potemkin player myself, I can play a bunch of other characters though. Justice is probably the most powerful character depending on what version of the game you play though overall the game is pretty balanced. I play Order - Sol now and then against friends when I feel like trolling, I’m not actually that great at him but his Dragon Install overdrive has to be one of the most mindfuck, show-off, wank combos you can possibly pull off in any fighting game.
Truth. Pot’s AWESOME in AC.
As for Justice… AFAIK, Justice and Kliff are banned, as well as Gold and EX characters in all forms of the game… But I might be wrong.
BadGuy’s in all of them. Order came in Slash, and he might be in Isuka.
Order-Sol is my favorite character in GG and of all FGs. It’s very rewarding playing a character you really like. I had #R but I never got around to playing anyone on PC. I was stuck trying to get down dustloops but I never managed to. Aside from Sol/Order-Sol, in AC I was learning Slayer/I-no/Axl/Venom. Venom is too stylish. He’s also one of my favorite characters. I wasn’t playing the people I used to in GG so I stopped playing altogether.
Every character from the start has been in there always except Kliff and Justice.
Zato was renamed to Eddie due to story line things… and whatever…
Baldhead is probably Faust.

AFAIK, aren’t Kliff and Justice usually exclusive to the console releases? And even then only in the updated release (#Reload to XX, AC+ to the original AC)?
They are, and in every tournament I’ve ever seen, except SF4, console exclusive characters were banned. I suppose in the States, it could be different for this game since it was sparsely in arcades, but in Japan, I’ve never heard of anybody using console exclusive characters.
I’ve been playing GG since like a month before Slash came out in 2005 or 2006. There isn’t much of a community near me but a few of us play once a week or so and I occasionally go to tournaments if I know GG is going to be there or at least GG players for casuals. I was just at Frosty Faustings in Chicago, it was a pretty good time.
I mostly play Dizzy but I also use Slayer and Faust as well, and I know some decent intermediate level stuff for at least half the characters because it’s the kind of game where I like playing almost everyone even though it’s pretty much impossible to master them all or even come close.
It’s pretty disappointing how much the community has dwindled here in the US but Guilty Gear was my first and favorite game and I just can’t let it go.
I would play #R on PC but I dunno at this point. Aside from Sol, I guess I would try out Venom and Slayer. I didn’t pick up anyone in GG aside from Sol until Slash and that was only Order-Sol.
I still play when I have the chance to. Unfortunately, there aren’t very many tournaments for it outside of the majors, and even with majors, it’s only some of them that have it. Regardless, Guilty Gear is still my favorite fighter.
I know how you feel man, it’s worse in Australia. I actually converted some friends who pretty much just played Street Fighter just so I had some opponents.
As I’m pretty experienced at the game, I try go easy, but it’s hard to unlearn years of experience. Hoping to run into some more experienced local competition but interest in the franchise it pretty non-existent.
I’ve met a few Blazblue players though, being the spiritual successor to Guilty Gear made by the same development team it shares a lot of common with the series, making a good alternative.

There’s a pretty decent scene here in NY thanks to team st1ckbug tourneys. It would just be nice if GG had a more accessible net-code like ggpo or something.

I’m kinda hoping with Blazblue and smaller upcoming titles like Skullgirls people might get a taste for some of Arcs other titles. I can guarantee you that most of the SFII players getting around these days didn’t play back in the hey-day. Hopefully the newer franchises and forum activity like this can spark more of an interest in X2AC+
It would be great if it got played at an event like Evo
The top players at the local tourneys I know off hand are Marlinpie(ED), A3religion(JO), Xaqshinor(DI), Zidane(AN), and (the legendary) Mahouko(BR) who beat Marlinpie twice at the last tourney(MP is considered one of if not the best GG player on the east coast).
I scrub it up with sol and I’ve been learning ABA on the side.
I tried blazblue, it’s not really a bad game I just don’t find it as enjoyable as GG.
Also, at the last evo there was 89 entrants for the GG side tourney, I think GG is definitely comin back slowly but surely.
