Guile Synergy

One team synergy I’m loving is Guile/Steve. The reason being is if Guile tags into Steve, the juggle that Steve does next usually juggles the opponent to the corner. The combo I use after I tag in Steve is c.mk > hk ducking > skyscraper > f+mp > lp > flicker > flicker jab. If I want to at this point, I can just tag in Guile. Now my opponent will have to get out of the corner and deal with all that space Guile has behind him.

does it work in the corner then?
other then that, anti air b/f.cl.hk should do the job. that is not as impractical as it sounds as that’s the case when they try to jump away on wakeup.

Do you care to share that with the class? =) I’d be interested to hear how you’re doing that damage.

I was thinking that team myself today after someone played Steve at a local sesh we had. That shit takes you all the way across the stage!

I’ve been doing Vega/Guile. Play hit and run with Vega then when Guile is tagged in I play zone/keep away. Vega has meter building gems and Guile has defense gems.

Team Lame it out.

guile/juri, trust me, they work well together. i played a really, really good shoto team earlier and they barely laid a finger on me when i picked these two. juri is exceptionally good in this game imo. she can combo into super off a mk pinwheel mid screen. you can play her really lame if you want to (run away dive kick mode), or you can go in. she’s got so many options. but the best part is, unlike poision, she does damage.

i must admit that it probably helps that she was my secondary in sf4, but i’d say she’s as easy as rolento/ryu to pick up and play.

on the subject of overall synergy regardless of lameness, i’m loving guile/heihachi. guile on point, heihachi in the back. footsies with guile, tag hei in for damage, tag out, lame it out with guile. go watch some of fuson’s guile/hei because he gets it. similar to how gilley was talking about steve (cornering his opponents, allowing guile all that space), well hei’s long ass combos do the same thing.

I just can’t get over how slow that mofo moves though

It’s been forever since I came back to SRK. I was just curious to see what was going on here in the Guile area of SFxT.

So far, I’ve been running a team of Guile and Julia. I just wanted a partner who could combo into super after the abcTAG combo thing and she fit the bill for me. She hits like a truck and can push people around with her combos really well so if you want to throw them away, she’s good for that. I’m sure other characters are better but I’ve been having good success with her. I’m open to switching it up and I like what I’ve seen from Juri. Ran into a Guile Juri team that wrecked me a while back. So far, the most dangrous team I’ve came up against is Raven Vega. Vega’s flip kick is gdlk in this game… from what I’ve seen.

I went initially with Guile/Asuka, but switched for Guile/Raven after how frustrating it is to play Asuka.

Raven is amazing. Can rushdown incredibly well, or annoy the hell out of opponents with his projectile and teleports.

yea but i’ve found that once cornered, he’s in a lot of trouble.

guile/rufus is really good btw. but i feel like rufus on his own would be good in this game, lol.

Certainly! I start out with Guile and do: j. HK, c. mp, flash kick > tag cancel > c. hp, EX Feisty Rabbit > Rabbit’s Thorn, c. hp, light Sunflower Lance.

To zUkUu, I didn’t actually try that one either but it might work as well. I’m just surprised most of Guile’s anti-airs don’t work on counter hit due to their recovery time.

Edit: Sorry, think I am missing that you have to do EX Feist Rabbit twice followed by Rabbit’s Thorn.

im useing guile/jin but trying to get the hang of jin hard tho

I’m currently experimenting with Ogre/Guile both are amazing batteries (Ogre is an insane battery) but neither one of them require ex moves. All but 1 of Ogre’s specials can be tag canceled the rest lead to tag cancel Guile c.mp, c.mp xx special/super except for Ogre’s ancients power that only allows 1 c.mp. An AA flash kick can tag cancel into 350+ damage combo with Ogre for 1 bar and if I have 2 I can tag cancel back into Guile for another c.mp x2 xx flash kick if it would lead to a kill (and style points). If you have 3 meter you can even go for a jump in with guile c.mp x2 xx flash kick xx tag Ogre c.mk x2 xx blazing kick xx tag Guile c.mp x2 xx flash kick xx tag Ogre c.mk x2 xx waning moon for over 500 damage which is more than a cross art, looks incredible and can really put your opponent on tilt after being helpless for at least 10 seconds.

unless they play marvel :wink:

I dislike spending all my meter unless I know that the final bar use will get the ko. Guile’s alpha counter ftw!

I have been running a Guile/King team, and I have found it to be rather effective. King’s knee juggle combos are devastating when combined with some of Guile’s tag follow-ups. Not to mention you can do a ton of damage going from King’s cross-up mk to 4-mk juggle. It looks like: j.mk, uf.mk, uf.mk, uf.mk, uf.mk > hp+hk, lp, lp > mp > QCF mp+mk. Quite a mouthful, but I enjoy throwing that one out online. You can also do the former part (until Guile tag) and then combo it with some of Guile’s standard combos such as ghk, ghk > flash (if I remember correctly), or c.lp>c.mp>EX.boom, c.lp>c.mp>flash.

I actually think a guile/X (sim or sagat for instance) timeout team with auto block and double shield gems would be mad viable.

That is if gems arent banned in tournaments. Im playing Guile with gems off for now.

Ive been using Guile / Ogre. Since the release. Ogre is A tier and Guile is B or B Plus. The Team is great. The both dont require meter for anything. They Shit on a lot of the cast. Guile on point as long as your fundementals are strong and you know how to properly throw fireballs a lot of thecast isnt beating him. Even tekken characters. His normals are just flat out godlike in this build Tag cancel Ogre off a hit confirmed Mp- Flash kick and Ogre HP cancel into Flame kick for positioning on wake up or waning moon for damage and its time comsuming. NO one can cross ogre up. He deals 300 Damage every bread and butter and Can end it with Flame kick tag cancel for guile mp mp flash kick. I like the team. When I first started online i was having trouble adjusting.But now that I understand what to block. I go on 10 game streaks all day long. today In 2 hours I went from 900 bp to 3000. I haven’t seen anyone posting for guile/Marduk. Anyone out there tried this combination yet?
I’ve been using them since day one with limited success.
But I think they will be solid once I get the fundamentals down with Marduk.
I think in the long run this will split into 3 different team options when I mix blanka with each of these guys. :slight_smile:
Pretty sure blanka guile will be hard core.
