Same could be said for Chun Li though. Her buttons are insane and she has a V-skill LLegs that’s +1 on block. She doesn’t NEED a 3f jab with that 4f stLK AA - but she’s got one no less. Chun has one of the best walk speeds and thee best buttons in the game and yet she still has a 3f jab.
Necalli has an invincible DP but they gave him a 3f auto correcting jab that AA’s like a sonofabitch. Same could be said for Ryu.
Keep in mind I’m not arguing that Guile needs a 3f jab. You don’t even know whether he needs it or not. I’m arguing that if they give him one he will certainly be top tier - in contention with Ryu and Chun for the top spots on the roster. The Japanese Gods have all said, of the major factors determining top tiers - meterless reversals and 3f jabs are the things that set characters apart.
Patch certification took long last month because it added the store and a bunch of new modes.
This month shouldn’t be to bad since the platform is already in place for character delivery. My guess is they are releasing him on Wednesday, prolly to coincide with a capcom pro talk with combo on Tuesday.
This doesn’t work, in fact it’s never worked in SF. Balrog is the only character who has ever had b,df motion. You have to at least go through f then to df to get chun’s FB, which makes you lose any down charge.
Sure, except there’s already a top tier without either of these things: Nash. So I’m arguing it likely won’t be a huge deal if he doesn’t have a 3f jab.
Keep in mind that I’m quite biased here since I very rarely pick characters based on how good their abare defense is. I place a lot of value in controlling the game, not stealing it back once I’ve lost control. Not to say defensive jabs and such aren’t useful just for their implied threat alone, of course.
Also, little detail: it’s not Chun’s V-skill Lightning Legs that are +1, it’s instant air lightning legs, and they’re only +1 if you do them perfectly. Just needed to correct that.
Nash is great because the rest of his buttons are absolutely gorilla and because he’s basically Guile with motions, now even more so now that we know that Guile also lacks a meterless, invincible reversal.
Maybe what they should be doing instead of giving some characters 3f normals is taking them away from the others.
From the videos it looks like the Lp has the longest startup, fastest recovery. In the video you can see Guile recover so fast from a slow boom that he was able to dash behind it and damn near pass it if he wanted to.
Can’t wait for Guile. Hoping he’s a combination of zoning and poking with strong normals. No fancy execution heavy stuff, just solid basic gameplay. Only other character that feels like that right now is Birdie… yuck!
I wasn’t implying he would be bad or anything but so far there doesn’t seem to be much that differentiates him from Nash other than ex fk and the charge handicap.
I was observing the WSO video some more. It looks like he can cancel the recovery frames of his Vskill into his SB. I’m seeing the frames just being chopped out and he’s going right into SB. That’s something that might not have been noticeable watching it in real time.
Another thing I saw is that his f+mk sobat is now only -2 on block. It was -4 in SF4 and pretty crappy because of that. We’ll have to see how quick it gets off the ground. In SF4 it was too slow to get off the ground IMHO, slower than previous games. The move was really good in every game before SF4.
And yet another thing that might not have been noticed from the WSO stream, his EX SB knocks down now. This can be seen as both a buff or a nerf depending on how you look at it. It can be a buff in that it allows guile a short period where he can reposition himself on screen. It might be a nerf in the fact you cant do any ground combos in the corner after it. No one did those anyways in SF4, so this is more of a buff I think.
