Its not too bad tbh. Compared to most of the cast having an EX version is already better than a bunch of the cast. Out of pressure situations you are going to have to burn meter or v reversal. The v-reversal being imo the least favorable since I see his v trigger as being so strong. However it all depends on your play style. If you can link CA off an anti aired FK I would save meter for that. big damage off an anti air is kind of rare in this game.
If his neutral is good enough, then not having a meterless reversal is not that big of a deal. And I suspect his neutral will be good enough, from what weāve seen.
Itās grounded throw and fireball invincible, so thereās that at least. I think itās better than Chunās sbk overall and she does fine, so I think itās pretty fair. EX version does have invincibility. I didnāt see anyone beat it out with a normal move during the stream, so it must have some pretty good priority. Looks like they finally fixed the autocorrect too.
Also remember that nobody was really using anti airs like they are supposed to be used in SF5. I hope st.lp is better than Bisonās for anti airing.
Does anyone have a sneaky link to Capcom Pro Talk stream last night? Official one isnāt up yet.
Also, something that nobody has thought about - can you cancel into V-Trigger/Sonic Hurricane after upside down kick? That kick is still throw invincible in this game and would be a perfect shimmy tactic. I doubt it though otherwise itās pretty broken lol. My guess the best setup will be counter hit upside down kick, cr.mp, V-Trigger/Sonic Hurricane/both.
Iām still wondering if thereās any way to combo into his V-Skill. It doesnāt do much damage but it might be a good way to gain meter and would be an option if you donāt have a charge.
I think V-Skill anti air (someone landing on it), Flash Kick works.
You can do** j.hp, cr.mp, boom, sweep as a 4 hit mid screen combo**. You can cancel the first hit of sweep into V-Trigger, which makes me think that sweep is punishable between the hits (just like in SF4). These were both seen in this Capcom Japan vid -
An ex boom that passes through sonic blade is blazing fast and does 3 hits.
Having an EX invincible reversal still puts him better than a lot of the other cast for defense. Especially if it canāt be low profiled. Sonic blade is a stationary projectile so its something he can sit behind and then use buttons to stop people trying to anti projectile their way in.
Unless he has trouble converting damage I see him being high tier
Highlighted part is the key here. I donāt disagree at all: it IS very slow for Guile as he usually floats around ~30 frames on booms in other games (well, in SFIV and ST at least, couldnāt find data from other games). I just donāt think this is going to be a huge problem. Thereās fewer ways to bypass the neutral in this game compared to SFIV, as well as worse overall fireballs from the rest of the cast, so I suspect the current frame count on the booms is more than good enough.
On another note, Iām really intrigued by his V-skill. Good in projectile wars, but also seems like a good way to bait people into jumping, the same way Kyās Split Ciel in Xrd tends to make people jump (not unreasonably, since a lot of people telegraph their intentions by using moves like this). Really looking forward to playing around with it.
He looks extremely strong to me and Iām usually pessimistic about Guile. Even his walk speed is way better than I thought it was going to be. He looks at least Ken level imo.
Iām hoping to balance him out that they gave him low stun like in previous games, otherwise we are going to be hearing a lot of moaning about him. The other good news is if he turns out to be ass (which I think is unlikely), an easy buff will be to give him a motion super.
Yup. Iām trying to work out if you gain any V meter for someone landing on it or being hit by it. You definitely get some for hitting someone with a boom thatās passed through the sonic blade.
Crush counter sweep and then sonic blade is going to be interesting. I think thatās probably why sweep is still punishable.
In this game when you think you should be booming, you probably should blade first every time. Thatās unless your opponent is near, but then you probably shouldnāt be throwing a boom either.
