Guile General Discussion: Go home and be a family man

ok never mind all that shit about not having his normals because of charlie, he’s got them lol. beats me why he needs the crouch thing though?

this is insane, when do you guys think capcom is gonna add guile?
by the end of the months last day like alex?

Seems right to me. Hope he doesn’t drop the same day as Mira in Killer Instinct.

I’m just gonna guess the 27th, just for consistency.

Voice Actor 11/10
New costume 10/10
Sex appeal 10/10
New abilities 8/10
Hair 10/10

Total: 10/10 (not an average)

His walk speed is shown very briefly (after he goes into V-Trigger). Looks pretty much like SF4 speed. Faster than Nash. I’m guessing his dash won’t be very good though.

Looks like he has at least 2 target combos.

I’m still really confused as to why he needs that crouch walk. I really wonder how they’ve balanced him because right now he looks O.P. Having said that, everyone looks strong in a trailer. Maybe his damage is ass or something.

going by that stupid little stats thing, his health will either be 1000/950 and his damage output should match most of the cast (chun level most likely)

I just realized his stat in http://www.capcom.co.jp/sfv/chara_guile.html is different from the one in http://www.capcom.co.jp/sfv/sp/chara_guile.html

One list his power as 4, while the other is 3

*edited: typed wrong power numbers

I’m guessing Faultless Move works by holding down mp+mk while crouching, making Guile shuffle forward so you can maintain back and down charge.

OK, I broke down the trailer and got some frame data from it, take this with a grain of salt though until I can get my hands on the character in-game…

[08:42] <@gilley> UDK has at least 12f startup, can’t tell cause of the transition
[[08:43] <@chaosWOLF> how fast was it in sf4, gilley
[08:43] <@gilley> 15
[08:43] <@gilley> c.lk is 4f startup, with a new animation
[08:43] <@gilley> 5f s.mp
[08:44] <@gilley> 10f backfist
[08:45] <@gilley> can’t tell cause of transition, but c.mk might be 7f
[08:45] <@gilley> 16f overhead
[08:46] <@gilley> damnit, fuck these transitions
[08:46] <@gilley> they cut to the next move while he’s already in the move
[08:46] <@gilley> maybe 10f sobat
[08:47] <@gilley> i like the suplex he does after the backbreaker
[08:48] <@gilley> 4f s.lp
[08:48] <@gilley> 10f startup on his SB in this vid, dunno which SB it is though
[08:49] <@gilley> he had 9f startup on SB in SF4
[08:51] <@gilley> backfist looks like it doesn’t have as much range as in the past
[08:52] <@gilley> 23f V reversal
[08:53] <@gilley> maybe 7f j.hp
[08:54] <@gilley> 5-6f c.mp, can’t tell cause he was landing from a jump
[08:55] <@gilley> ok, definitely 6f c.mp
[08:55] <@gilley> 4f EX FK
[08:57] <@gilley> 12f ermm, looks like df+hk new animation
[08:57] <@gilley> anim look like his old close s.hk
[08:58] <@gilley> they’re showing guile do c.mp > link s.mp > chain to backfist
[08:58] <@gilley> then cancel to his VT
[08:59] <@gilley> then EX FK

If it’s true to Guile form, then his weakness will be due to rushdown. He’s always lacked reversals and get-off-me stuff, and what with SFV having majority of the cast hurting in the same department from rushdown, he should fit the game dynamics just fine. And he could be hurt by characters with a strong neutral game and just poking crap out of him.

Eh I guess it’s kinda expected by now for these updates to come at the end of the month to prevent issues with tournament scene

imo, you can tell from the trailer that his sonic booms aren’t nearly as good on block/hit, or else they would have shown some sonic boom combos. I’m also more sure than ever that crouch walk is just what happens when you press down-forward. That lets you advance holding sonic booms using bazooka knee, and advance holding flash kick by doing df.

I kind of get the vibe that they half-assed Alex for some reason and this is the first proper DLC character. Guile looks a lot more polished, got a proper trailer mid-month, gets his own stage. His victory animation has dope comb twirls instead of a squat looped 3 times too fast. Maybe Capcom was just swamped after release.

Well I’ll be damned, they made a trailer! And a good one too!

Definitely trying him out. Dude looks like a beast.

Being able to move forward and boom should allow him to be more aggressive with booms than he was in the past. That’s one of the main things people hate about charge characters is they’re forced to give up forward positioning in order to do a special.

He is definitely the best reinvented character so far. Thank you Capcom.

That’s what I wanna see in SF5. MORE of this please.

I would say Nash is the best reinvention, but seeing as how he’s almost totally different, I see what you mean and I agree.

Calling it now boom on block is -3 on hit is +2

Gameplay, yes. Character design, no.

Time for Dieminion to be best Guile in the world again.
