Guile General Discussion: Go home and be a family man

Am I the only one, that wants a fan Trailer to use this as the music?

Guile was my first “main” way back in the SF2 WW days.
I was slightly miffed that he wasn’t a launch character, but it seems good things come to those wait.

Old sf2 guile player, old sf4 guile/deejay player.

If Deejay wasnt going to make a random appearance i am happy to see that guile came for america

I can see the PC modder first skin for Guile.

There’s seem to be a lot of emphasis on his sonic booms and no reference to Flash Kick. If his zoning is actually good I expect his Flash kick to be even worse than usual as an AA. It may not matter that much because in this game everyone and his mom can fend off jump ins with jabs.

I used him on ranked SF4 because he was a good scrubkiller and easy as fuck to play: victory could be achieved with minimal exposure to mashed reversal or Ultras. Now that is less of a worry he may not be that necessary but I guess he will be a good workhorse for low and mid level Ranked.

They do that with every character breakdown. They omitted Alex’s stomp and another special move from his breakdown and some people even assumed the moves were removed. They always focus on specials they feel are more worth breaking down. Flash kick is an AA/Reversal. It probably wasn’t worth really breaking down any way.

They’ll probably do something where like only the EX flash kick is good, but remains to be seen.

Flash kick not being a terrible anti air would be nice.

Seriously, SF4 Flash Kicks were wack.

Yes, but SSFIV made Light Flash Kick a legit AA move. I don’t know why so many people thought it was weak throughout the time span of IV. Maybe because Guile had tons of AA options already with his footsie game and normals.

He looks dope and changed more than I expected (in a good way). Really looking forward to this update. My new main is coming.

I am not even concerned about FK, they were fine in SFIV. Instead, expect nerfs in SB frame data. I can’t see a 9-frame startup, +4 on block projectile making its way in SFV, especially considering this crouching walk mechanic (I didn’t get how this is supposed to work, sounds like what a V-skill would do). His overhead will be underwhelming like all others in SFIV as well (15 frame start up and only -3 on block? Nope, that’s not SFV). Among other balance changes to make him fit on SFV context.

On paper, he has potential to be strong and really fun to play. Let’s see.

Sonic Boom?

Interesting, seems like Guile’s CA is charge unlike everyone else’s in the game which are motion.

If it is charge, I’m not too sure I like that. Sonic Hurricane isn’t really good enough to be a charge CA. The damage seems kind of bad from the clip, and it doesn’t have the range for chip kills like some other CAs. Maybe it’s double QCB?

Well it’s supposed to be enchanced by V-Trigger

Looks like Guile is about 6’1" 218lbs

We don’t know enough details about the CA yet.

Does it do huge chip? Can you combo into it?

Guile tends to have really, really strong EX moves, so I’ll take a wait and see approach before we judge the super. He might simple not need it.

I have a question though, what in the world is the motion for his new command walk.

Yawn his CA looks exactly the same than his Ultra 2 from SF4. Now the only thing missing is him able to do Flash Kick V-Trigger cancel CA.

Let’s see if V-Trigger gives him something different.

On another note, his white shirt and glasses give some Shino Aburame vibes.

Like Darc said, its supposed to be enchanced by V-Trigger.

Also, looking closely at the CA video, it most definitely is charge.
