Yeah, I wish Lamerboi would have took it.
I am going to start off by saying congratulations to all of the Guile players at EVO. I am pretty envious that I wasn’t there due to me moving to a new apartment on the same weekend as EVO, so I did not bother registering. Then I finished moving early that week, but registration was over so no go for me. Tough luck huh?
I did catch some of the stream when I was able to and happened to catch LAMERBOI, and Warahk’s matches in top 32 on day 2 and I did see Dagger_G V Justin near the end of day 1.
I actually enjoyed watching LAMERBOI V Daigo. While the match was going on I was thinking in my head like “Oh, I would have done this” or “I wouldn’t have gone for that”. I could see the slight differences in mine and his game play without even playing him. I am pretty sure to a bunch that does not play the character would say that both LAMERBOI and I play the same, which is lame. But I could really see the difference in our mindsets. I think a little more patience in the Daigo match would have gotten you the win in both games. I think that Daigo felt that once he got the Guile players out of the way, the tourney was going to be easier for him. You can see him smile after the victory. Not saying that was an indicator but that was the only time that he did not have the trademark Daigo face when I did see him play. LAMERBOI also made the right move against Arturo that last game. I guess it was go for broke that time. I wasn’t really impressed though because smart players make smart judgements.
Warahk, I liked how you managed to overcome the second game on Arturo. Dhalsim V Guile is probably the match that takes the most adapting to and in a 2 out of 3, you have to adapt quickly. I vaguely remember the analysis of the match so i’ll watch it again and post on it when I have time to again later on in the week.
I think I posted something about Dagger_G V Justin earlier this week. I forgot which thread it’s in.
Not that any of you should care but I am taking a major break from SF4. I feel that since I was not able to be at the grand stage of them all (in America anyway) then there is really no purpose in me training to become better for nothing. Plus i’ve been busy lately anyway. So no more new Dieminion footage will surface the web for a while. Maybe after I move to Europe later this year i’ll get back into it but for now it’s quits until further notice. I’ll still give insight to match-ups and things of that nature so i’ll tune into SRK once in a while.
Good luck to all of you guys SF4 endeavors and I really do hope to play some of you guys in the future.
I was just happy to see Guile representing far better than I can play him. He’s always been one of my favorite fighting game characters, and to see actual good versions of him made me very pleased.
to echo dieminion’s sentiments, i too think that lamerboi had daigo more worried than he realized. that match is not nice for ryu anymore, no doubt about it. in fact, if lamerboi hadn’t done that random flash kick with 3 seconds left then we would have probably seen a final match with the same hype as gamerbee vs justin.
I cry! :**(((
I tried to do a flashkick to chip him to death on the last round last set where he did C.MK, it didn’t come out for me so I just went straight to panic mode lol, and failed ex-flashkick through fireball which explains why I ate a fireball clean…then I just said “fuck it, all or nothing” hahaha sigh sigh sigh
Congrats to all Evo Guile players.
Lamerboi I think you actually would have won that match on clutch had you not panicked vs Daigo (the only reason he won that round at the end was because he capitalised on your mistake); you fought really well and I think your performance overall did you credit. And with literally a sliver of health left in the last match, I cannot blame you for the panic attack (I would have been bricking myself the entire tournament lol). I was shocked at the loss, because of how well you performed in the entire match.
I did level up by watching top guile play matches, and the performances have inspired me to attend (and hopefully win) tournaments.
p.s: GEOM Modinside was unable to attend EVO cus of visa related stuff; totally uncool.
Yeah, I really wanted to talk with GEOM Modinside >< only heard about GEOM Hustler I think?
Best of luck to you in your future tournies! and send GEOM Modinside my regards =)
And thanks for the insight and how you felt about my match =D
there were some great guile matches. i think daigo was also in panic mode against lamerboi - when daigo jumps in at the end. sucks that it didnt work out. really effective guile strategy the learn from though. if only lamerboi kept his patience :).
the sim matches were really good too. i hate playing sim, i can only imagine the frustration that mounts when trying to attack a top sim player.
Congrats on your fight against Daigo man. Many of us probably would have done the same thing in such a high pressure situation with so much at stake in EVO. You pushed the best in the business to his limits. Much respect goes to you man, for I learned much by watching your fight against him. I’m saving that fight in my favorites on YouTube. I’m always looking to see better Guile players than me to see what I need to work on. Hope to play you sometime in the future.
I would have done the same thing you did, if I remember you were in the corner and he was in a perfect range to mash 2-3 fireballs in which only HK.fk had range to chip damage.
You went for the ex.fk to go through fireball in case he kept with a 3rd or forth but
If you watch close, daigo moved back a bit just to be outside of the fk range. I guess you wanted to KILL daigo instead of letting the clock beat him on that round. Anyways, just my .05
Question? would this have been a good place and time to actually see a Kara (Kara flashkick)
Man lamerboiiii FUCKKKKK. I feel for you man. I remember watching the match and jumping up and down being like, Guile has this shit man, turtle/iron fortress! Bahh. You played unreal man against like the best player in the world. You’ve got some serious skills and ive tried to model my guile after yours so congrats on doing so well, even though that was heartbreaking =(
Just watched the Lamerboi vs Daigo vid and it was pretty awesome except for the ending. Lamerboi, you did great considering the tension level of a projectile war with the best player in the world right now. Good job man, way to represent Guile. Hope you get another crack at Daigo. Ryu still gives me some problems and this vid gives me some good ideas on what to do better in this matchup.
