[Guild Wars 2]

Finally get to try out Sylvari. I hear their starting area is really nice, really dream like.

Hah, comp arriving today, I DO get beta loving!

I hope they addressed some of the problems that showed up in the in the previous stress test.

[details=Spoiler]Arenanet extended the stress test for an hour and there was an event near the Black Citadel where a crystal dragon would send out corrupted champions that corrupt anything they killed. Players could get corrupted and they were instructed to corrupt other players by killing them.

It was a cool concept, but people found ways around that and would just fast-travel to the city waypoint or re-log to take off the corruption and the event pretty much got nowhere. You were also instructed to try killing the main characters (i.e Rytlock and Eir) but they 1-shot everyone so that was pointless. People camped the city gates because there were invincible archers that 1-shot you as well.[/details]

Other than that I’m hyped to play this on my new Samsung ultrabook.

What server are you guys playing on, i’ll be only for a little bit today but pretty much all day saturday and sunday.

beta is live, lets go!!!

made an Asura warrior, and played a bunch of PVP. not 100% sure what I’m doing with the Warrior (or any class really) but it was fun. Asura didn’t seem to have any visibility issues. I think because you’re brightly colored Red/Blue you stick out well enough.

I only had 1 game in the new PVP map. seems fun though I spent most of my time in the enemy spawn area wrecking shit lol. I had just captured a point and saw the enemy gate and started attacking it. it went down and soon enough an ally was there with me and we killed their base NPCs (we died once, but went right back and finished the last guy their Lord) I wasn’t watching the score too close but it seemed to give up a big boost because we won pretty dominantly soon after. But I’m tired as fuck after only a few hours of sleep due to DKR midnight showing. so I’m calling it a night lol.

I’m playing an Asura necromancer. I’m really digging their move animations lol.

Was only able to play 10 hrs this weekend but still managed to get an Asura and Sylvari character to level 10 to check out their personal stories. We need a list of impressions for the classes. Not exactly a tier list per se since I’ve barely done any PvP, just more in line with what each class has to offer. It’ll help me choose what to roll come launch. I still plan on playing all 5 races, but with 8 classes and only 5 character slots I’ll have to pick which classes I probably won’t roll unless I decide to purchase slots later on.

had to force myself away from ele, i finally got around to making a mesmer, holy fuck these guys are insane. im pretty sure im still rolling a ele on launch, but dam melee mesmer is some really fun shit.

Ele is the obviously awesome class, I expect them to be a total glut at the start of release.

Of the others, ranger and mesmer (especially melee versions) were the huge standouts to me funwise.

All the people who played priests or tank warriors in traditional mmos will do guardians tho. Its already getting a bit of that rep.

Yeah I’m thinking of replacing rolling a Necro with Mesmer instead. Over the three BWEs I’ve tried Engineer, Guardian, Ele, Mesmer, Necro and Ranger. Necromancer I thought I’d have the most fun with turns out the opposite was true. Currently, I’ll probably just roll the classes I played in the betas. Leaving necro, warrior and thief on the shelf. For now.

Pretty much decided I’m gonna play a ranger on release myself…

With an immediate crafting alt, probably a war.

My bff is playing a mesmer, so gotta dodge that

Did a fuckton of PVP this weekend nearly rank 11. This time I played Warrior (which I hadn’t played before), Guardian, Engineer, and Thief. I’d say 80% of my games were on my thief. Just felt fun. a bunch of cool skills, but not many weapons. Engineers seem to have been buffed because they were fairing a lot better in this beta weekend. I think Guardians either got buffed or people figured better stuff with them (and they were already strong before). They feel sorta OP in PVP, because their survivability is nuts and they can get similar damage to the warrior. They have a bubble, good cc, and this amazing heal. Very tough to put down if they’re halfway competent.

most of the people I was playing with were playing different classes and everyone seemed to be happy with their class. So I have no clue who I’m gonna play when the final release comes. Everyone sounds good and fun. Next month cannot come quick enough.

I played Elementalist and Guardian mostly. Both were really fun, in both PvE and sPvP.

Elementalist looks to be somewhat involved to play in PvP though, because you have to play very mobile, but its a refreshing change from traditional casters. And they do nuts damage.

Guardian was pretty good playing with a tanky build. In sPvP it was very good for holding areas, but many of his skills rely on “I stand here, and don’t you dare step close”. You have to get a bit creative with her build if you want to be tanky, but still have the mobility to kill people. Very good for capturing nodes.

Guardian PvE was a bunch of fun. Run into some boss event, everyone else lying dying, you just go “Chill guys, I got this”, walk in and tank everything while rezzing people. Of course, with that build you’re not going to kill anything, so you really need those other people around to do the killing part (or it will take ages).

loving the game sofar

I think I’m gonna play a melee character since I tend to make ranged/magic characters in most games. it’d be a nice change of pace. I’m leaning toward a thief mostly based on this past weekend, but then again the magic user in me really wants to try out all those classes too.

Elemenalist looks dope, but I didn’t play them much because my friend called it already hahaha. They have a lot going on. 4 elements to work with and each weapon gives you different skill with each element. Though I believe that can only have 1 weapon (like Engineers) so it’s not too nuts at any given time, but you still need to be on top of what element you’re going to need for a given situation. At least that’s how I see it on paper. I think when people have more time with the Ele we should see some sick stuff from them. Definitely a cool break from traditional mages.

I haven’t seen or heard much about the Necro though 1 guy I was talking to said his brother was doing some cool shit with his. Mesmer’s look great and everyone seems to have loads of fun playing them, but I think a lot of people will roll mesmer so I may avoid it.

A VERY useful link, although the info is probably dated (that site has been up forever)

Right now Ele is the most popular, engi is the least.

Edit: Bastos is right though, when they started mesmer was pretty unpopular, now they;ve surged to being one of the most popular classes

To be a class hipster or a sheep. That is the question.

I choose option 3. Play whatever I want and not care what anyone else does.

I went sheep in D3 and it was pretty successful

Seems everyone is pretty well distributed anyway.

When I played Sylvari it seemed like everyone and their mom was a ranger though, lol.

I just wanted to run a lightning only Ele again, I don’t care about the other elements. I wish I could replace the attunement switching with more lightning attacks. Ah well.

I won’t be running shit though unless I build a new PC. Probably won’t get into the action until September/October.
