Thanks CStatic, shit is helpful. That C&D is pretty cool and is great for just running around without having to fight. Im gonna start fuckin’ around with the crafting stuff today see what I can see. Got to level 16 last night. Is it common for gear to be all busted up after a couple fights? It seems like I have to repair that shit constantly and I never have money because of it. Im like “hells yeah, got enough money to buy that book but I gotta repair my shit first.” then I go repair my shit and its like, “Ah man, now I gotta fight for a while to get more skrilla for that book.” rinse and repeat.

Yeah it’s a pretty nice build, I don’t claim it’s the best, but I like it. I’m tinkering around with a few different variations in PvP, I’ll give an update if I change anything major that might make it more efficient.

Oh yeah, with P/D take particular note of anything that throws up refelct projectile so you don’t screw yourself up with autoattack!

Glad to help. when I first realised to use it how I do now, I was amazed that I had never thought about it before. C&D is so useful in and outside of a fight, you’ll love it later when you get into Orr (Straits of Devestation, Malchor’s Leap & Cursed Shore) because those zones are full of Risen groups just waiting to gank you with multiple CC moves. There’s a whole lot of champs there that you can have fun with though :smiley:

Gear shouldn’t get busted up from fighting, it gets broken from being killed in a fight. I don’t ever remember having to repair my gear after prolonged bouts of fighting, that’s strange.

finally got my 2nd 80. half of it was crafting, the other half was logging in for an hour each day to do a dungeon and/or daily.

it cost me more than i wanted it to because i was a dummy with guides (weaponsmithing, really?) but i found a really good cooking guide for the last 10 levels:

so im an all swagged out level 80 (those dungeon tokens) despite having only “played” about 40 levels. good thing its pretty easy to look like youre good with this class; you just run in circles and hit all your skills when their cooldown is done

Mesmer has had a lot of nasty nerfs though, especially to Phantasms and the LoS change. A lot of mesmers that I knew on my server who were PvP/WvW players have actually dropped Mesmer completely until they do something about it because it’s broken a lot of builds and decreased survivability :confused:

It was open season in sPvPthe other night when 2 Anet players decided to join, both Rangers, Berril and Taru Taru. Yeah, I think they felt our rage…

yeah the phantasm nerf is bad, both from an power standpoint and a “this makes sense” standpoint. if im summoning a minion what does it matter if i can see it or not, or if it “dodges”? aside from that the game has a funny way of deciding LoS so the skills fail a lot when they really shouldn’t. also berserker does shit for damage now lawl. admittedly the class was pretty derpy before; i ran around in pvp for the longest time with the “default” build (30 power and 30 crit traits lol) and did well by mashing on summons and shatters. it was even better when i got a real build and started playing correctly ( honestly playing correctly isnt all that different from playing wrong). completely breaking a fundamental feature of the class is not the way to go though since it completely kills build diversity which goes against their game design philosophy…although they seem to be doing a lot of that recently. mesmer also has a lot of annoying to crippling bugs but they were “good” so they never got fixed.

shatter builds are still intact though and arguably those are the “best” (in pvp) builds anyway. sucks for you if you don’t like the playstyle because thats all you can do (there’s condition but ehhhhh…it seems underwhelming).

its kinda annoying that the game is good but it seems like someone is trying to kill it with bad decisions and software bugs. arena net i know you can save money by hiring programmers without actual computer science degrees but please stop doing that!

I’ve noticed that the LoS nerf has seriously ruined mesmer’s ability to run as well, normally, when I’m chasing one down, they can still do a lot of shit, but now, it’s so easy to chase down a running mesmer, they’ve been hit way too hard, I hope they relax it for you guys a bit because it seems like some very knee-jerk changes. Oh and for the love of God they need to change illusions in WvW for underlevelled players because only the main mesmer will show as underlevelled, giving the poor guy a serious disadvantage on the field.

The shatter build looks awesome, my mesmer is only 31, but it’s the build I wanted to go for also, I just love the idea of my adversary killing themselves as well!

Not surprised by the LOS nerf because they probably didn’t want people getting hit through walls in sieges and attacking mobs from safe places. LOS changes were made to other classes like eles a lot, like the signets and scepter skills. Personally I thought a skill like fire scepter 1 should still hit behind the character because that skills is borderline useless, at least make it good for something besides taking 1 whole second cast time to do 300 damage and a second of burning.

I think Berserker is gonna rebuffed because it was actually indirectly nerfed. Here’s a quote from a red on the official forums

what is there to do in any multiplayer online game at max level? make new dudes, play dressup or go fight people.

LOS for summon-type skills doesnt make any sense. it’s like…“i know theres a dude that wants to kill me, but i can’t see him. i better summon some bodyguards to get in his way!” the way phantasms and illusions should work imo is they should always summon; if youre targeting something it will come out with its normal attack, if not it will just appear and chill next to you until you attack something (or maybe it will auto attack whatever is attacking you; anyway this part isn’t important). in fact theres a lot about the mesmer class that’s kinda hard on the brain. like sword lasers…yeah heres what is clearly a melee weapon…but not really its ranged because it shoots lasers for some reason! imo the greatsword lasers should go to scepter (the scepter auto attack is really bad) and the greatsword auto attack should be something where you SWING THE WEAPON (imagine that). i really want to see what the concept art for mesmer looked like :lol:.

mesmers are still okay but thats more because the shatter build is good and the really good skills didn’t get touched. null field is still fuck you conditions, moa is still lol, and time warp is still gdlk. 4 clone shatters (illusion 30 makes you count as a “clone” too) with confusion damage (lets be real here your target was probably swinging when you shattered) does a ton of damage and you can take skills to do it again right after the first one hits.

Moa makes me laugh so much, even when it’s done to me, I just can’t hate on it, it’s the ultimate touché, or “fuck you!” lol.

does anyone remember the name of the program that helped out with the fighting and movement in the game and added a redicle? a firend of mine who just started playing does not like the controls.

Just saying I was expecting something like the LOS nerf because they have been nerfing stuff for other classes. Though a lot of things don’t make sense in general from anet. They said they fixed magnetic grab and ride the lightning in two different patch notes but it still bugs out making them get stuck in place and cc themselves for 2-3 seconds, which means they probably are gonna die doing it, because I know I actually did during the Lost Shores event thinking that it would have been fixed. And not to mention they unintentionally created some bugs for some other skills, such as DT having no blast finisher at all (not even at the location of impact). I know they only have 2 people balancing classes, but they probably can get some skill testing at least.

Confusion is a very strong condition imo. It was funny when ice bow 4 had confusion on it (now they changed it to bleed, which honestly sort of sucks because it barely lasts). Even getting 3-4 stacks on someone could take a chunk out of them if they leave it on, because a lot of people are always doing something and most people eventually run out of condition removal eventually.

How are you people making money in this game? I’ve had to just knuckle under and buy gems to turn into gold anytime I want something.

Wear magic find gear (plus food and buffs), gather everything, kill everything, sell everything, participate in all DEs you see, salvage rares with black lion salvage kits and sell the ectos (or hold onto them)?
