what server are you guys onnnnnn
You do seem to get more blue/green item drops (which NPC for more gold) at higher levels. Quest rewards are kinda inconsistent.
I’m sitting on 2g 40 silver unspent. There doesn’t really seem to be anything I need gold for besides the Grandmaster’s Trait book.
The lack of a gold cost on armor/weapon crafting makes it seem like gold is eventually going to be worthless for anything besides WvW siege weapons and repairs. Hopefully they’ll add a sink of some sort (if there isn’t already one).
Whenever I need new gear (which is rare because it feels like Longbow Warrior is a bit op) I just buy it with Karma, if I haven’t already found some gear. Sitting on like 16k of that lol.
it seems like any bow anything is OP, i see alot of rangers with shortbows while i journey, they output a shit ton of damage really fast.
yeah I like the bow on my thief, I’m not sure how my damage is compared to other classes, but I find myself using it often. My friend was doing WvW last night and said it changed his mind about the longbow warrior after he saw how ridiculous it can be (he was playing on his warrior at the time) so it sounds like bows are strong.
I hit 24 last night on my thief, finishing up the Sylvari area then I’ll do the Asura area then continue my story and move into a more level appropriate spot for me to do heart quests. I also started a Necro and I’m really digging the class a lot. I tried getting into WvW last night but sat in the queue forever before I had to go to the gym. Hopefully my friends want to try again tonight and hopefully I get in this time lol.
I’m on Henge of Denravi along with TA (http://titanalliance.net/titanalliance)
Level 40 thief, ingame name - Chiang
Trying to make the SRK guild on here but it guild creation is being buggy.
Best class for a total nub? my only experience is with wow
Go with Warrior. You can try both melee and ranged with them and they’re strong at both. If you think melee is too harsh/punishing (it can be for new players) then you can go with a ranged weapon until you get used to how the game plays.
Plus, Warriors are fun as hell.
Playing this for now. I like it, but it gets really repeatative. I wish I could swap my skills up more. Meh. It is what it is. A fun free game. I hope PvP remains fun.
Been playing a elementalist and engineer. I’ll probably take engineer to cap first as I’m having a lot of fun with rifle and switching between grenades and medic packs.
i hit 32 last night on my ele, those avatars seem…pretty underwhelming compared to thier derv versions from gw1. but i must say those fire vambraces from hom are pretty sexy!
Thanks, man. I am levelling at a snail’s pace right now having a hard time dealing with shit in Queensdale solo so I’m going to try and run through the rest.
Good to know you make more coin at higher levels. I’m planning on saving my gold to trade for gems so I can buy hipster glasses for my toons and character slots.
Also found out you can buy guild influence with gold so I’ll be doing that with my own as I won’t be joining any of the massive ones.
I like how in the chat box it mentions someone already level 80. wtf? I suppose that’s to be expected, it’s an MMO after all.
The first level 80 was a guy who did it through crafting with guild help for mats.
I figured level 80s bought XP boosts and zerged through high level zones but didn’t think you could get that much experience from crafting. Granted I never crafted for more than 5 minutes at a time as I’d run out of materials so it was hard to gauge how much you can earn. Not surprised he had a guild providing a constant source of materials. Reminds me of how one guy beat Diablo 3’s Inferno in like 3 days because people gave him money and gear.
yea you would be surprised how much xp crafting gives you. going from lets say 75 to 100 got me from lvl33 to 34 and a half, lol.
Bought this today with no guild wars experience. Im only level 6, but when should I be buying equipment to level? And it feels like doing the events is the best way to get exp cause killing creatures barely gives anything.
Edit: The game is asking to use a code that expires in two days, but gamestop didn’t give me one. What exactly am I missing? Its messed up I asked is there a code I need before I bought the game and they say no everything should be there. And there is nothing on the receipt. When I call they say there should be a code on the receipt when I preordered which was a week ago and I don’t even know if I threw it away yet.
Every 5 levels the shops will upgrade their equipment. You should ideally be upgrading every 5 levels as such.
And that’s intended. Hearts, Events, Exploration, Crafting is how you get your exp.
Did you get a collector’s edition? It sounds like it’s asking for your collector’s edition code so you can get your Summon Mistfire Wolf skill and stuff.
anybody in here fought shatter yet?
how does crafting get exp? I don’t think I did it right, because my weapon smithing leveled up from 1 to 14 or so last night just from me making dowels and planks (should have left them as dowels lol). But I didn’t see any exp for my character. Do I need to be crafting actual weapons and stuff?
and good to know about the equipment. I should look into that because I hit level 26 last night. I’m in the Asura starting area and will hopefully finish it up tonight.
http://www.warlegend.net/guide-fast-leveling-using-craft/ . Nice little guide to get 2 lvls pretty quickly.
As for the exp from crafting, i think it has to be weapons/xquips from discoveries. Basically from what I saw when i was testing this yesterday, made a rune of life (I’m a tailor) and combined it with the components for a robe in the discovery tab which discovered the uncommon robe for this which also gave me around 1k exp. Afterward, i could only do 1 more robe since I didn’t have much mats but making that robe gave me around 1k exp as well. Rune of life also gave me around 500exp and they were easy to make.
