GUIDE: Sanwa button mod - how to mix and match your sanwa button colors 56k warning

tried to do the swap today and the stock SE rims are definitely very different from the sanwa rims. on the SE stock buttons, there are 4 little circle things holding the button inside the rim, i have no idea how to even remove the plunger and separate the two. therefore, i couldn’t even really give a good test to see if the Sanwa would fit inside but just noticed they’re very different.

In looking at the color comparison, seems like the screw in vs. snap in plungers are the same? So the guide would most likely apply to both and you could even conceivably swap a screw in button plunger onto a snap in button of a different color?

Thanks for the guide by the way. Pic’s are very helpful.

Yeah the SE buttons are completely different from the Sanwa buttons. So don’t plan on modding your buttons using the stock SE pieces.

Awesome stuff imo, used it to do this to my stick heh

Now im debating if i want to bother changing the art or not like i originally planned on

I think it would look way nice if you did change the art give it your own personal touch

im gonna do it to my se and dye the case blue

Thanks for the mod info, they look great.

Thank you for this thread!
Really helped me out when trying to change the switches. Thanks!

can you download a template and show how its going to look in the stick?
Though assuming the red head is going to be no where near the buttons I would say red rims and white buttons. That looks nice in my head for your stick. If some buttons stray into the power rangers head though those can be white rim and red button. Just my opinion

The pink buttons look a little strange with the artwork you have atm. I always love to see pink on a stick though(wow that sounds more peverted than it should) since its a nice color. Especially with black. I am not much a white and pink guy.

I have some trouble taking my sanwa buttons out of my se fightstick. when I try to push them and twist them, they are super tight. any tips?

I too would like to know this. Can anybody help us out?

Also, is it possible to use the snap-in buttons with a screw in rim/switch? In particular, Sanwa has purple and dark blue snap in buttons, but not screw in. I’d like white rim with purple and dark blue buttons, but they need to be screw in. So, could I switch them up?

thats a great mod
i really like the pink

I wasn’t goin to MOD my buttons but NOW I AM! Thanks

Loving those blue rims with the white buttons, think Im gonna do that when I mod my TE!

im a noob to this but is it possible to use a sanwa (OBSF-30) rim and use a clear seimitsu (PS-14-KN) plunger?? they dont seem like the same lenght. i just want to use a solid rim and a clear plunger for my scheme. any ideas?? i have a hori fs3 so i dont know if that would be a problem.

No you cannot.

I am going to assume that OBSF and OBSN have the same plunger. I want to have red rims and black plungers for my TE I’m modifying, and I want threaded buttons. I don’t see black threaded buttons in stock so I have to get the snap-ins. Any confirmation would be greatly appreciated, although I’m pretty sure they’re exactly the same.

Yes.

fix this shit all the pics are gone

please do fix the pictures aha.

I cant find this tutorial anywhere else

Same here! I really need to know how to do this now!
