the pvr works with Mac, but you need third party software to run it. Not sure what it is called, but I know it exist. And you can record on anything dual core and up. Maybe even stream at lower settings. If you’re wanting to record high def, I’d recommended a quad core.

i tried to use xsplit 6.0 but it seemed when you use the game source its a little choppy. how were you able to get it to view the happage with a camera source it just get a no signal?
With beta 6 it should accept it as normal. I just add camera and it finds it, you may want to try making sure your resolution is correct.
Just select it in beta 6. It will work, but it’s really buggy in this stage of development. The audio and video tend to get more delayed the longer you play. Hopefully they will fix this, as it’s unusable for me.
same goes for in store best buy
can anyone tell me how hot the pvr runs?
I’ve never had problems with it running hot.
how long at a time do you run it for? i want to mount it to a board along with all my splitters and switchers for easy travel.
The initial run had heat problems, I think; but after that, no problems I’ve heard of. I’ve run it for 14+ hours capturing with no problems – it gets warm, but not super hot. I wouldn’t run it in an insulating environment (I saw a guy talk about putting their setup into foam cutouts in an attache case… that might cause problems), but as long as the top and bottom have a decent air path you should be fine.
I have my HD PVR hooked up and I’m sure I have everything else connected properly, I’ve double checked a few times. For some reason when I go to the capture part of Arcsoft Showbiz, the Hauppauge appears in the devices but the preview screen stays black. Nothing shows up. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
EDIT: Just reinstalled and everything is working fine.
I guess I still don’t really understand how this works. If you bypass running the audio through the pvr and instead run it straight into the computer that means your webcams will be in sync, but it also means your gameplay audio comes through 1.5 seconds or so before the gameplay video. If you run the audio through the PVR you get the exact opposite problem and the web cam video comes through a second before the audio.
Xbox - HDMI splitter stuff (see OP) - HDPVR - Computer (1.5 sec delay)
Xbox and mics - Mixer - computer (No delay)
Webcam - Computer USB Port (No delay)
or

You can run the audio from the mixer into the PVR to sync the gameplay with its audio, but then the webcam with zero delay is not synced with the microphones. Either way has problems I haven’t figured out yet.
I’ve been running my stream for quite a while now off of my HD PVR but i live on a little island in the pacific so my band with is the sucks (20 MB down, only 1.1 up)
Here is an example of my streaming quality.
IF i’m not mistaken this is at 480, with my upload set at 700 kb, framerate at 30. (in wirecast). The stream runs smoothly. However, I want the picture to be a little better. What do I do to improve on this?
I’ve gotten a mixer recently (Behringer Xenyx 802) and have been playing around with it. I’ve found that it’s virtually impossible to time your webcam with what’s coming through the Hauppauge. I’ve switched to the Colossus since writing this guide and it’s the same. It’s always going to give a second or so delay with what’s going through the Hauppauge and what’s going straight into the computer. What you can do is have your commentators commentate off of the video that’s already been delayed through the PVR. They will be off by about 1.5 seconds, but at least they will be synced with the webcams. That’s how I’ve always done it.
Ok. Now this is happening again, I have everything hooked up with the method in the first post. My PC recognizes the Hauppage, and so does ArcSoft ShowBiz but nothing comes up in the preview and it says the input resolution is 720 x 480. When it worked last night it was 1200 x something. Any ideas? If I look in devices and printers on my PC it comes up as a sound device?
The resolution on the preview has to match what the console is outputting or it wont show up
anyone else have a problem with flickering?
for example at the 15:00 minute mark of this video
In my streamed and recorded videos, i have that ugly black bar on the right side of the screen. I tried recording with only the pvr and its gone, but when it’s hooked up with the stream equipment, it’s there in it’s ugliest form.
How do I get rid of it??
Example (see far right side):

Yes, it seems this is a problem caused by the converter. I’ve recently re-linked a converter that doesn’t cause this issue. You could try using that, but what I’ve been doing for my streams, is cropping it out. You can do it easily in xSplit. But if you are wanting to do it with a recording, you’ll have to use some sort of software for it.
