That HDMI to Component converter in the OP intrigues me, actually. You can use that to record from a PS3’s HDMI out without having to worry about HDCP?
I might pick one up in that case. My setup is currently the inverse of that (component out to a component splitter, component-to-VGA converter to hook it up to my Asus monitor) and my particular component-to-vga converter doesn’t do any favors to the picture quality.
Yeah, the problem with running Component out of your console is that you HAVE to bypass your video through the Hauppauge. That leaves a really shitty picture quality that you have to play on. The HDMI splitter allows you to run directly to you Asus monitor without any lag. Then converter to Hauppauge.
This is the exact set-up I have for my PS3. The connections go from My PS3 > HDMI > Splitter > Samsung Monitor/Component Converter > HDPVR > Mac/PC. But I do have a problem, and I believe it’s with my HD PVR. I have it all set up but I get no picture on my computer. I have perfect 1080p picture on my monitor and if I disconnect the component cable and put it in my HDTV instead of my HD PVR, I have a picture.
So I guess the HD PVR doesn’t like the signal I’m sending in to it. Any ideas?
Edit: I figured it out. I had to set it to 720p in order for the HD PVR to pick up the signal. Thanks anyways!
Haha wrote a guide did you? Good job Panda. Maybe we’ll put that up on our site as well. I plan on building a “For the community” section once I get more time.
This guide helped me out a lot setting up the pvr do u know how I can get my voice ob the game I can get everyone else from my xbox playing thru speakers. Do I need to just turn on my mic on the laptop? And would that create an echo from the audio playing on the laptop?
Just turn your game volume down and your mic up. Also, you are probably getting an echo because you are playing your stream on justin.tv while streaming. Since xSplit is picking up EVERYTHING that comes through your speakers, it picks up your streams audio, PLUS what you are streaming out. So it’s going to have a 4-5 second delayed echo. If you want to watch your stream on your computer while streaming, just mute it on justin.tv.
Ok I didn’t really think about it until now but I will try it out seems like the most logical thing to do. Im using wirecast instead and im lovin it so far pretty cool
Yeah, Wirecast is pretty professional and easy to use. The only reason I use xSplit instead, is because I’m running W7 and it won’t pick up my audio from TME. Since you can’t automatically select the PVR from the audio source. What OS do you use? And what are you doing to get your audio to work?
Yeah, that’s the problem though. I can’t pull up my sound card within WireCast. Some laptops that have W7 have sound cards that don’t work with WireCast. I know it sounds weird, but I’ve googled this problem many times and I’ve found various answers. The only audio source that I find is my microphone. There is no option for speakers. What I can do though is use a program called Amarec to capture my computers speakers. I can select that through WireCast and it works, but I really haven’t bothered with WireCast in awhile. I may sit down soon and work with it since it’s a lot better than xSplit. xSplit is just so damn easy to use, lol.
have you tried doing it first thru the little camera icon first on the main screen and do add stereo mix before just going straight to your existing shot?
Stereo mix doesn’t exist on my computer :-/ I’ve even tried ‘‘show disabled devices’’ with no success. It just doesn’t exist on my computer.
And I have tried using Virtual Audio Cable. I’m not 100% sure if I’m using it properly, but I’ve looked up tutorials and am convinced I’m using it right. What I do is go to audo repeater ks. I select my speakers as the input and select my output to line 1. As soon as I hit start, my computer blue screens and I have to restart. EVERY time. What I can do though, is select VAC line 1 within WC and it works, but I have to set VAC as my default audio device first. Which makes it to where I don’t hear ANY audio coming out of my speakers, but it plays through WC.
My computer isn’t even a year old and isn’t buggy or anything, I’ve just read that certain audio cards are gimmicky with these types of things. Like I said, WC doesn’t pick up my speaker source at all. Only my microphone source. I am working with Conexant SmartAudio HD. No stereo mix installed on my computer, nor does my audio driver support it.
for VAC there should be a Line 1(VAC) set that to “listen to this device” and make it play through the speakers. Then set Line 1(VAC) to default playback device.
