Guide for streaming with the Hauppauge HD PVR!

Well, I only just realised my laptop doesn’t have a mic input so it’s gonna have to be USB. Any recommendations?

I also made a case for this stuff. I need to get some shorter cables as they take up so much space. I want to put in a power strip so I can leave all the power supplies plugged in and just plug the power strip in, saves set up time.

sup guys,
do i have to lower the settings when streaming MvC3 compared to SF4? tomorrow will be my first time streaming MvC3.
any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

p.s. keep up the great work panda. you got quality streams

Have any of you guys used the hdpvr directly with the latest version of xsplit
http://www.xsplit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5362

Hey guys, I looked through the thread and I couldn’t seem to find anyone else having an issue with the capture being slow. I used to stream using a dazzle and it was just fine, just very bad quality. Now I have an ASUS monitor, HD PVR, an hdmi splitter and hdmi>component converter (both w/ power sources) using my xbox. The quality is just as good as I wanted it to be but the speed of the video being captured is INCREDIBLY slow and I don’t understand. I’m not talking about streaming yet, (I have an upload speed of 2 mbps) but just previewing in xsplit shows the video moving at like 1/10th the speed of the audio. Can anyone help me figure it out?

I’m running this on my laptop, which is an HP Pavilion tx2000 series
It’s got an AMD turion dual-core processor and I maxed out my ram to 4gb.

does true video appear slow in total media extreme? Also, are you screen capping or using xSplits direct capture feature for hauppauge?

I haven’t tried TME before (don’t really wanna download a bootleg :/) and I’m using the direct capture on Xsplit. Not even adding any captions or other capture devices, just the hauppauge so far.

The PVR driver for Xsplit is effectively broken, the only reliable way to get it working atm is to screencap or gamesource the TME window into Xsplit.

Yeah, use TME. Like FunkyP said, the drivers for direct capture for xsplit is pretty bad. You’ll have to have TME open at all times and use the screen capture option for now.

There’s a driver out there to use the PVR with Windows Media Center, dont know where it is though

Hey guys!

I’ve looked around a whole bunch of places but I really believe only SRK will solve this one out.

I’m using a MBP 13" with single Line in input under Windows 7 64-Bit for Xsplit. The thing is, Windows simply doesn’t detect microphones! Under OSX you can change this via software but in Windows it only works as an audio output. Does anyone else out there uses a bootcamped mac with xsplit and know how to solve this issue?

Also, if you guys are streaming under MAC, what software are you using?

Late Edit: I’ve read in so many places and even saw some guys who tested the PVR and said the the PVR passthrough is lagless. I’ve played with it for a couple hours and it also seemed lagless to me. Now, I read a bunch of comments here saying the it is not and that you need to split the HDMI signal and i’m quite confused. Either way, I believe i will go the HDMI route due to the fact that I can then work with any monitors. But I will need to buy something on dealextreme since Amazon is just too expensive for Brazil. Did anyone get a splitter/converter from china? Thanks!

This is the Splitter I’ve found: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/one-input-to-two-output-hdmi-1-4-splitter-65732

And this is the converter: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/hdmi-to-component-video-stereo-audio-converter-65205

Think they will work out fine?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if Hauppauge offers replacement discs with TME + Drivers ? My disc broke yesterday :frowning:

thanks for the guide ive been using it for our recordings for Giant Attack Scotland. Just for clarity though do you pass your audio from the game through the mixer somehow or are both inputs separately going into the pc?

HI there, i´am not sure if this is the place for this question, but here i go…
There is any way to quickly change the name of the players an the score of the match in Wirecast for Windows? something like a Plugin o something like that, or a hidden feature for do this in a fast way?

hey guys i got some questions

if i were to buy the avermedia game capture hd and follow the exact same steps provided on page 1, would it work? has anyone else tried using the avermedia game capture hd?

i’m going purely on assumption based on logic, but it should work.

The avermedia game capture doesnt work the same way as the HDPVR or the AVerMedia AVerTV USB HD DVR. It just captures to a usb drive or internal laptop drive

There is a wirecast pro plugin but its for sports score boards.
What I do is set up the shot and leave the shot open. when you update a score switch back to the main window an click go and it will update.

I think you can just go to the website and get another copy from there. Could be wrong.

Just a note on the PC part, you don’t need anywhere near that level of power. I can stream PC games perfectly fine (including newer stuff) at 720p/30FPS/2mb/s with an overclocked 1090t, 4gb’s of DDR2 memory, and a 2GB 6950. And when streaming for consoles you don’t need as much hardware because

  1. You don’t have to worry about your computer running the game, thus freeing up a lot of resources
  2. I don’t own one, but I’m pretty sure the capture card handles the video compression as well which means the only thing your PC is doing is taking the video feed and uploading it.
You also shouldn’t worry about your hard drive speed very much when you’re using a capture card. Unless you’re recording something like PC game footage, your write speeds won’t matter and you also won’t need to worry about the slight performance hit your computer takes when you write to the same hard drive your OS is on. If you’re only interested in streaming I’m pretty sure your hard drive is completely irrelevant anyway. The most important thing about stream quality is whether your connection can handle it, and that’s about it.

hey guys. does anyone know how i can improve the sound and video? video seems to lag and the audio is scratchy.

pretty much using the equipment on the first page. using avermedia usb hd dvr instead of the hauppauge
