Take a look a this vid and tell me if you see something wrong. I clearly AC’d (you can see the flash + me losing a stock + the sign that says “Guard Cancel”) but I block the super without the AC ever coming out. What’s up with that?

I’m assuming you were going for his counter attack into super, right? Heh … anyway.
My only guess is that the super freeze made the game glitch up and register your last input (downback) as the current state after the super and not let the actual guard cancel come out, even though you lost a stock, some guard meter, etc.

i’ve actually seen this quite a few times, but i’ve never seen anybody other than kim (the player, not the character) do it. Explanation? Shit i dunno. I could probably figure it out if i sat down with the game for a minute but alas, no time.

Basically, a guard cancel move has two parts: cancelling the guard (which costs you the meter), and coming out of block stun to attack. The second part can be interrupted if it happens at the same time as a super freeze.
Darn, there’s actually an article about it. Well that explains it. For some reason I thought there was a lot more behind it, heh.
