Good shit MikeG, Booty Clappa, and Gamepad owners.
I’ll miss the place, it was so convenient for me to get to. Hope you find a place in Brooklyn. And for the love of god, do not look for a Venue in the Bronx, 3 hour subway ride 1 way.
Also ggz everyone I played, henrycen your honda is cheap, adnan your dalsim is broken.
I can’t get it why i get no credit, I lost 3rd round and came all the way back beating Joe/Arturo/Andre/Henry/Marliepie/Nerd josh and almost reset the bracket 3-2. Sighs fuck it things will never change
Dont think of it as getting no credit, everyone KNOWS your a godlike player to the point where no one has to say it, everyone expects you to win or place to the point where theres no surprise when you do, you get so much credit ppl aint got nothin to say
Preach. I haven’t gotten the chance to come out to a tourney yet, MCAT classes @ Astor Place on Weds, tourneys are usually on weds and then Battlefields were always the week of a test for me for some reason but FADC and then Sp00ky’s streams really did a shit load for the community. I don’t get the flak/hate. Why knock a tourney that’s going to bring more people out and surely be a hype as fuck way to end GamePad.
Also, can someone tell me why FADC kind of faded out? I always thought Seb was just under some construction period but it seems indefinite or something now.
Lastly, is there parking around GamePad? 'Cause taking the N back home after midnight local all the way back to Southside Queens is gonna be a bitch.
FADC’s owner Seb moved on to work at MLG. What he will do with FADC is up in the air. Spooky then came in and picked up the much needed missing work for the community. There is some parking but you have to come early.
As of now, there aren’t really any plans to bring AE to consoles, although I’m sure Capcom will consider it after it is in arcades for a while(the arcade owners need to get some profit). It was really sad to hear that this would be the last Guard Crush tournament at Gamepad. I wish the best of luck to the venue owner, and his family. Although I have only gone to 2 Guard Crush tournaments, I have had an amazing time going to both. It has really made me regret not going to previous tournaments, when I simply watched the stream from home. I really want to thank all that made Guard Crush possible, and successful. It has greatly benefited the fighting game community, and I hope it continues to be that way. Guard Crush shall live on!
I have much respect to Spooky, and Guard Crush. It’s been a blast watching, and I hope you guys find a new venue. I just wonder how it’s going to be when SSF4:AE comes out…
I’ll miss this place, though it was not convenient to get to driving from Bedford Stuyvesant in rush hour,…but I’ll second a thumbs down on the Bronx, cause that definitely aint happening on a worknight.
I’ve always been about supporting the local game shops, eff Gamestop (and their preorders they only seem to get 5 copies of,) sorry to see this one go. Good luck to John and Sandra in their future endeavors. Wish I knew about the gaming scene earlier, but glad to get in when/where I can, seems like things are getting big on a national level.
What is up with all this foolishness not liking Triforce and EMP n stuff,…guess there’s backstory that’s old/irrelevant now, all I see them do is win, how can you hate on that? A small tourney TFGM held in Williamsburg earlier this year was my first, and everyone was hella cool, thanks for the introduction.
Speaking of winning, GG Ben Fong, I finally got a win off you, it’s pitiful that my night’s highlight was my Chun beating your Rog, and that it took so many times to finally do it, but it’s taken me a min to adjust to how good the local scene is, PSN/XBL is like zero preparation.
And EMP Jago and EMP Rahsaan yall suck (for eliminating me from the tourney!) Im’a kick both your @sses (eventually - maybe not next tournament, but someday, be ready.) LOL GG
I think they’d have to support it. All other tournaments are still going to use console Super and I dont see any Major’s bringing in Cabs for super. I think the community has no choice but to support it until AE content is available at home or the tournament scene may just die down for the time being.
Please let us know what you guys are going to do. We would hate to find a new venue just to have very low numbers. We would rather wait until AE drops on console or MVC3 comes out to continue running tournaments.
I agree with MikeG. If we just play AE at CTF, and yet it’s not going to be used in tournaments for quite a while, then what is the point of dropping Super? It’s very likely that we won’t see it come to consoles for a few months at least. If we don’t have more tournaments due to the lack of Super support, then it will ultimately hurt the NYC SSFIV community as a whole. I think Guard Crush was a great way for many people to level up their game, and having more will help. I’ll still support Super events until AE is officially released on consoles.
The fact that as far as we know there isnt gunna be AE at home for a bit, and that majors are gunna be Super till then, the NY scene will pretty much have to be playing both versions for a bit, because Super is where the scene (read: the money) is still gunna be for tourneys, while at the same time learning AE at the same time to have a heads up when the dlc does finally drop
