SBIV is in the books, which means there’s only one major US tournament left in the circuit for 2009. The North East Championships is Philly’s major. I’ve never been to this event as it’s always conflicted with my work schedule. This year it finally fits and I’d like to attend. This tournament is completely weather dependant. If I see there’s going to be snow of any significance between here and Philly right up to the day before the event I will cancel my involvement. I wanted to give everyone fair warning so they’re not randomly disappointed at me bailing out.
PRICE BREAKDOWN
Car Rental (Minivan):
$83 x 3 (Friday - Sunday) / 7 = $36
Car Kilometres (We get 600km free)
1800km total
(1800 - 600) *.15 / 7 = $26
Gas (We’ll say 4 tanks total)
4 * $50 / 7 = $29
Hotel (Two Double Beds)
$205 / 4 = $51.25
Entry Fees
$20 Site Fee
$10 for every tournament entered
You’re basically spending $175 before you’ve eaten. The trip will likely run you $200 - $250 depending on how much you need to eat and assuming you don’t do anything like side bet matches (and lose) or take in the night life. It’s a relatively cheap trip.
NOTE: Because of the length of the drive and the fact people may want to stick around for finals, there’s a good chance we’d be leaving Monday morning. If that’s the case, you’d be adding an extra $25 in hotel charges for the extra night.
Please post up here if you’re interested. As per usual I reserve the right to take whoever I want in my van.
