Heya guys,
This is Art from Art’s Hobbies. I want to thank you guys again for the interest! I’m still processing the artwork and I figure I’ll try to make some clarifications incase of misunderstanding on how the artwork needs to be for it to be prepared to give you guys the best cut.
Basically the templates floating around are not entirely accurate. So if your artwork is designed using those templates and you have very specific button setups, it’s likely to be a little off. Aside from that, the outline of the panel is just a tad tad smaller. Adding to that, there are very slight printer variances when using different printers that can cause the paper to contract, or images to just come out a little smaller or larger. When adding printer variances to the slight offness of the template some of the inaccuracies become a lot more noticeable.
So when an artwork is designed exactly to the outline’s dimensions you will end up having the image come out just a tad smaller and when cutting you’ll get a slight edge. In order to counter that, we need to bleed the image out past the borders whenever possible.
Please refer to the below images for an example:
So if you have the original artwork and you can either extend the artwork past the outer edges of the template and then send it to me without any of the outlines and borders that would ensure a much better cut for you.
The ones that I still need are “8 Button HRAP Gunman.png” - I got the new image without the button holes, but now I got the panel borders.
“telayout.jpg” - J gave me the new link, but when downloaded it’s the same chun li image with the hole/turbo outline and border…
If you guys want to double check your artwork alignment with my own templates, it can ensure a better alignment to your buttons. You can find my templates on my site:
http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/
Sorry I couldn’t provide this information nor the templates sooner. I didn’t get the templates done until just recently and I’ve been completely swamped. And that mishap on the email to J didn’t help either.
Thanks again everyone. Anyway, when you guys have a chance, you can send the artwork directly to me at art@tek-innovations.com, and feel free to ask any other questions.
Cheers,
Arthur
that link you provided was for etchings… I thought you just print it out on some sort of cardstock paper at kinkos and cut the artwork out for us?
I’m totally confused now…
The site url also has 6 links for templates. I was referring about the art that has specific button locations. If you want it to be more accurate, you can download the template that was designed and align for the plexi and panel =)
I’ll download that new template right now sir, sorry but the template I used was horrible everything was jaggedy sorry guys for delaying.
Hey Everyone,
I just received an e-mail which confirms our order being shipped.
It is being sent to my parent’s place in Scarborough so I’ll be able to grab it on the weekend.
Once I have everything, I’ll post up in here on meeting times / locations.
Thanks!
Hey Guys, as Jay has mentioned, your package is on its way! Thanks for your patience and for working with me on your images. Here’s a sneak peak of your stuff =)
Thanks again everyone!
Nice Art, thanks for keeping us posted!
Hmmm just a quick question though, I thought you cut the holes for the buttons and joystick hole too? In the pic, it seems like it was still on?
Oh don’t worry, they are cut. The cuts are perforated so you just pop the holes out. It’s hard to see in this pic but if u look close enough at the chun li pic you can barely make out the perforated outlines =)
email from art as per how to take care of your produxcT!!
Just FYI, your package is in the hands of the Post Office now =).
Please let me know when you have received it so I know it got to you safely and in one piece. Once you’re satisfied, I would greatly appreciate your review on my official thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=183029, as it is the support of the fine community that helps make this all possible and to keep me going. Would also be great to post an image of your customized stick and art so I may use in my showcase in the future, as I enjoy seeing customized sticks =).
If there are any issues, email me right up and I’ll jump to resolve your concerns.
Here’s also some considerations for caring for your Plexiglass, if you want it to remain in top shape.
DO NOT use window cleaners to clean your plexiglass. Anything that is ammonia based, like Windex, will ruin it. For a quick clean you can use a clean, wet, cloth with very mild dish detergent to clean smudges. Otherwise, a damp clean cloth should be ok to wipe off dust. Microfiber cloth is preferred if you have access to one. Do not wipe with any paper towels as you may risk webbing the plexi.
DO NOT store your plexi in an area that may get hot, like out near the window in the sun on a hot summer day. As plexi is a plastic, it is within the charactistics of thin plastic to warp in prolonged exposures to very warm/hot temperatures.
BE CAREFUL when installing your buttons. While the plexi is relatively durable, stress on the edges can still cause a crack. Some buttons can end up having a tighter fit than others. Mine fit in easily with a snap. Others have experienced a much harder time pushing their buttons in. A lot of times this is a result of the button’s tabs (under the button’s lip) protruding out a bit more than others. If this is the case, people have suggested to sand the tabs down a little so the buttons fall in place easier. Either case, best not to force the buttons in too much.
If you have screw-in buttons, try not to tighten them like there’s no tomorrow. Same goes for the 6 screws for the panel. Basically use good judgement and apply just enough force to keep things in place.
For a good clean and shine, use plastic polish. The one I used to initially coat yours is Novus #1 Plastic polish and it is excellent. But pretty much any good plastic specific cleaner/polish will do nicely.
If you find white/smudge residues on your cover when you receive it, this is due to the plexi being inside the protective bag for extended periods of time combined with a little bit of heat which may just cause a little bit of residue buildup of the the polish. This can happen if the plexi is being transfered through the postal service and the environmental conditions contribute to the residue build up. This doesn’t damage the plexi and just requires a damn soft cloth to wipe it off. Don’t worry =).
And you may want to remember taking your watch, or your friend’s watch, off before going crazy on top of the stick. It’s easily overlooked, but that wrist watch’s buckle can potentially give you a bad plexi scratch.
Here are some good caring tips for acrylic/plexiglas: http://www.housekeepingchannel.com/hcp_159-Plexiglass. Or use Google for more info.
The plexi is relatively resillient, but it’s always good to be careful and have good common sense =).
Other than that, Thanks again for your support and Have fun!
Cheers,
Arthur H.

Albedo: sorry that I can grab it sooner for your party
Bleh… I need that art and plexi glass… I take it that you’re gonna pick the stuff up at your parent’s place and go straight to the Bar Fight… fuck…
What time are you gonna show up there? I might just meet up with you there, pick up the goods and leave. I need to know ASAP. Thanks.
Would be a perfect time to get the stuff off of you since I’m actually showing up on saturday.
Gives me enough time to roll up some nickels and dimes.
I’ll be at the bar 12 noon on sat initially to drop off the sauga crew, then gonna go home and grab the package and return to the bar by 12 30pm… so yeah.
Alright Jay, I’ll see you there.
Jaywang thanks for the hookup, now that I got the parts I probably won’t put it together for awhile, so lazy to do all that work. Also thanks to CQ for the help with the artwork.
