Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

Ghost Rider has tons of setups into a Frank DHC (check out the Frank Level Up Strategies thread for details). As for your final one, depends on the assist.

Yeah go for boulder then for sure then. When I get a chance to hop into the lab, I’ll take another look at it and see if it extends Frank combos midscreen. The general rule is that, if something pushes them forward like I think boulder punch does, you’re going to want to relaunch with 2 dashes…so sj.MMHS (dash) (Call Chris) j.Tools H (dash) s.S, etc. May or may not work here. You might also be able to play with the timing so it’s the second hit of the assist that connects, but I’m less sure about that. If it’s really bad with HSD, then at least you have Jam Session, but it’s probably not worse than Disruptor (which I use midscreen off extended conversions).

I would definitely use shopping cart assist. Tools L seems cool because it levels up with Frank, but, first of all, you’re ideally not going to tag Frank out once he’s leveled if you can help it. His incoming options are limited, and you’ve put in work to get chainsaws. Also, Shopping Cart assist is active for longer than Tools, it comes out faster, and both it and your partner’s assist recover about a whole half-second faster than they would with Tools. Shopping Cart is also more resilient versus melee attacks…and just in general…Tools doesn’t add much to the neutral game. It’s like a worse Tenderizer, although, if it were leveled up, I could see it being ok–again, probably not the gameplan. I assume Chris also wants space/frame advantage for setting up grenades (or mines or whatever they are), and Cart is much better for that. Doing something like up-back d.H+Cart would probably create good space in certain situations, and Calling Frank into Gunshot L could work as well.

Basically, I have no idea how to play Chris, but I can’t imagine that Tools is better than Cart for him.

Yeap today i make 63 wins in a row i play chris boulder frank cart and dante jam its sick how easy is level up frank with chris i need more practice on the dhc chris to frank but its worth it and the damage in good very good most of the time when i get a solid hit with chris i already got 3 bars and make the entire combo lets you on 5 so even after a throw if i want someone dead hes dead and level up frank with boulder its really easy anything chris first shot double dash and instant level 4 or 5 if use thc once again thank you guys i mean it finally i think i found my team now i just need learn those sick combos that i see in the cape videos my frank its pretty much week 1 but yesterday i got i little idea of what hes capable off

Chris/Frank/Dante sounds really good. I hope to see it in action.

Gonna try record some games so you can see how good they are are!!! Awesome team for sure

That team sounds like the zoning oriented version of Team Bee.

Definitely record your matches.

I think more people using strong/synergistic original teams with recording facilities should try and make a video documentation of how their team are progressing.

I would love to play around with Chris, Dante, Frank in that order. Might do that when I have some time off this weekend.

In personal i dont recomend that order less damage and not easy way to level up but its your choice after watching your vids i know you can make frank work good luck!!!

Yes. A new era has begun.

Incidentally, how’s Felicia/Dante/Frank goin for you? Definitely wanna hear more about this, but I keep missing you on Skype.

Also, this may be obvious, but we haven’t really talked about it a lot. For Dante/Frank people: Since Reverb Shock is so good to throw out in certain situations (and is really generous with Happy Birthdays), remember to do a follow-up combo with Frank if you hit it. So it’d be Reverb Shock xx Fireworks, Million Dollars, DHC into ST, (Call Jam Session), Picture, (situational dashing), s.S sj.S, (falling) sj.Tools H, L Zombie, Tools M, Picture. You can probably sj.HS, but you can’t stick an sj.M in there without dropping it. Based on the distance created by Million Dollars and the fact that you’re getting a launch in there, you’re almost always going to be able to choose between Tools M (picture) and Tools Mx2 into FFC reset (will have build a bar during the follow-up) if appropriate to the character you’re facing. This is also a good way to convert off of a stray defensive Crystal hit that’s too far to allow a standing normal.

Doesn’t win = doesn’t matter.

Agreed. Let the work begin.

Decided to work on a Zero/Frank/Dante. I’m already well experienced with Zero/Dante shell but is there anyway I can setup a double TAC glitch using this team to go into Frank?

Also on the subject TACs, is the Side TAC combo for frank that brings them back to corner character specific?

You should be able to do the side tac on anyone with different timing. You can likely set up the double tac setups with Zero. With Sogenmu you can also do sjHS from a launcher and hard tag in Frank into a Dante THC. I personally like the order of Zero, Dante, Frank better as it gives you the Dante backup, a better DHC early on, and the ability to level up either through the aforementioned hard tag or a DHC from “Skittles” into Devil trigger and doing QCF+H

Cless TAC glitches for the level in the first combo of this match.

Incidentally, if you copy that, I think you’d actually want to do what Combofiend suggested and do TAC, hits, (Call Dante), Picture, Picture, Survival Tools, DHC to Zero, Tools H, Tools Mx2. I didn’t test that, but I seriously doubt that lvl 4 ST, Tools H, Tools M, Picture, lvl5 Roundhouse M/H does more damage than lvl 5 ST, Tools H, Tools Mx2.

I agree with Cape that Zero/Dante/Frank is more stable, but the disadvantage there is that you have a harder time getting into Sougenmu for the upgraded assist. At least TAC glitching is trickier than regular TAC’ing, but if you do it much they’ll just start countering the glitch (which happens to Cless there). Obviously that creates a mindgame in and of itself, but it’s still not 100% reliable.

I’d also say that Zero/Dante/Frank doesn’t seem to have the best damage control around, although it’s not terrible. Since you’re playing Zero, being forced to give up chainsaws for a kill isn’t so bad, since you get those ridiculous incoming mixups anyway.

You could likely do a knockdown into Sogenmu into Devil Trigger and pick them up. Or possibly from a QCF+M > Buster > Lightning to the same.

Yeah Fizzy found something like the second one your suggesting. Apparently it’s HSD-friendly as well, so that’s a definite possibility. You could also do the Sougenmu sj.S --> hard tag. I’ve heard that’s hard from a few people, but I’m not convinced it’s anything beyond understanding the spacing.

If your first suggestion worked, that’d be stupid easy though actually and solve the Sougenmu problem. Definitely worth trying.

It was pretty difficult for me, but I remember finding something like OTG xx Buster, Raikousen L xx Sougenmu, DHC to DT, S ~ H, Stinger xx Bold Sky Dance for the Hard Knockdown, then Snapshot. It’s been so long since I’ve practiced the team though.

What I really loved about Zero/Dante/Frank (in that order), was you Rekkoha -> DT, then tag Frank -> Knee Drop, Snapshot + Jam Session if you have it, Roundhouse M, Tools H, Tools M, Snapshot and stuff. Did a lot of damage. The REALLY best part was, if you can’t kill for some reason with a Frank combo, you can always Sougenmu and do Lightning Loops to finish off your opponent. It was pretty great, and my favorite part of playing the team.

I never did get to messing with the TAC stuff, though. I could never get the trick down, and I never have the presence of mind to TAC, haha.

Though if somebody figures out a TON of Felicia/Dante/Frank tech, sign me up. Felicia’s like my secret favorite character that doesn’t do a whole lot.

I’m working on it right now. Found some interesting stuff for it already (working on learning Felicia and Dante) but there are some good unblockable setups and such. We can always talk tech on Skype.

If I had a mic I would, especially if we could get a big group chat going. I might look into some other pairings and see what odd stuff I could find too.
I have to say though, I do secretly like Task/Dante/Frank.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I had a bit of time in Training mode to explore a bit and found a few ways to double TAC glitch from Jam Session and shopping cart (takes a lot HSD though so I can only do them half way through my normal combos.

I’m surprised more people have said to use FW anchor and Dante mid. I thought FW was a poor anchor? (although I do agree it’s safer to DHC into DT than to any other of frank’s super)

And on a side note, Which zero assist? Leaning towards Ryuenjin for better hit confirms.
