Woke up too late to see this episode. Anyone wanna fill me in with some spoiler tags?
the ep
[details=Spoiler]The thief Thanagarian is tortured for the Lighthouse code by Atrocitus. The heroes are order by Appa Ali Apsa to destroy the Lighthouse to prevent the Red Lantern fleet from entering Guardian space. Heroes go there, Red Lanterns already there. They eventually take the Lighthouse and Razer rigs it to explode. Chase scene in the tunnel between the heroes’ and Atrocitus’ ship racing for Guardian space as Razer’s bomb explodes and the tunnel starts collapsing.
Earlier in the ep, Red Lantern Worldbreakers were deployed INTO the asteroid belt. After it closes, Atrocitus sets a trap with his disabled ship that Hal, Kilowog, and Razer fall for as Atrocitus and the hacker chick from Mogo take control of Aya and the ship. The ship warps to Oa, leaving Hal and friends in space at the entrance to the former tunnel… which Atrocitus blows wide open with his Worldbreakers. Now there’s a permanent hole for the Red Lantern fleet, and Hal, Kilowog, and Razer are right in its path. And that’s where the ep ends.[/details]
It’s Bruce Timm artstyle in 3D. You can tell it’s Timm because Carol Ferris gives me a boner.
So this episode was like the return of the jedi to last week’s empire strike’s back lol. Most of the season’s plotlines got solved and everything wrapped up in a cute happy ending bow.
I liked seeing Saint Walker finally kick ass in his Blue lantern uniform and also like Kilowog putting in work on those ships. But WHY are they still going with the lame -ass Aya/Razer thing?
Razer is like Eric from Trueblood in that he’s much cooler without being tied down in a relationship. Plus the whole robot infused with life energy thing dating a real life being is still weird as hell to me. It’s creepy like Scarlet Witch and that robot from Marvel.
I don’t know I like aya so I don’t mind the angle, plus with hal being away from earth and kilowogs entire planet turned to scrap thats pretty much the only option left for a romance angle on the show. Overall a very satisfying end to an amazing season, the reds got a lil redemption but atrocitus got arrested, saint walker became the first blue lantern, mogo kicked some ass, hal vs atrocitus was pretty cool and even salaak got some awesome action scenes. I wonder where they are gonna take it with season 2 though, the reds aren’t evil anymore so that leaves either the manhunters, the escape of atrocitus, larfreeze or our boy sinestro. Should be fun seeing where they go with it.
Anyone have any idea when season 2(or the second half of season 1, not entirely sure how they are marketing this) begins?
I think they could also do something involving the other Earth lanterns John or Guy hopefully both and do a storyline like where they solve political disputes between planets.
It would also be cool if they did a Parallax story where Guy and John have to team up with Razer and the others to stop Hal from killing everything.
I like your Lafreeze idea too especially if they do the funny story where he searches for Santa Claus lol.
Yo true say, the parallax story would be pretty cool, but since that story ended with hals death in the comics Im not sure how the writers will use that in the show, but since that story leads into the sinestro corp wars I don’t think id mind them using it. Id love to see a more full scale war between the greens and someone else(since the rage of the red lanterns story line wasn’t really a war-understandably due to budgetary constriats).
This episode just flew by way too fast. It needed to be a two parter and the round RL guy whose name I forgot needed more a reason to go along with Appa’s offering.
No he didn’t, they weren’t gonna win at that point so they might as well take some assistance for their homes which is what they really wanted anyway.
Made perfect sense to me.
They actually really wanted revenge thanks to the cult-like following the red corps had with Atrocitus. Only Razer showed any sort of reluctance.
Zulius zox I believe is the name your looking for, but I mean when you think about it what choice did he have? They had lost, their leader was unconscious and he was prolly gonna get captured as well, and then his potential captor gives him the option of peace, while the ones responsible for his suffering offer to come with them to help in the rebuilding of his homeland and paying for the crimes. Seemed pretty well thought out to me, the only thing imo that felt a lil rushed was the fight between atrocitus and hal but what can you do?
I think the manhunters are gonna reapear in season 2, the shows creators said the main villains of the first 26 episodes would be the reds and the manhunters and since they barely appeared in season Im guessing they’ll pop up in 2. Then they’ll prolly set-up the return of sinestro for season 3(if it gets renewed)
Show’s producers don’t want Sinestro, or DC asked them to keep him out or something.
Manhunter storyline would be interesting. Kinda want to see Darkseid for some reason. I know he’s not exactly a GL character… but he wasn’t a Superman character either…
So I know this was released a long time ago but i just found it on youtube today so yea [media=youtube]9HwxyPXv-AY[/media] turns out its gonna be the anti-monitor for the main villain this season. Im excited, I’ve always heard about this character but I literally know nothing about him so it’ll be a journey of discovery for me come september.
6 month bump because this still exists.
Thank you…I was going to do so.
Since hearing Ron Perlman voicing Sinestro in the last episode I’ve been playing catch up.
(Geez, I didn’t think been that long. Thanks, Saitsu.)
Not sure why I never posted in here before. Probably because I’ve watched the show rather inconsistently despite its quality and it coming on right before Young Justice. Hell, until the opening on this episode, I wasn’t even aware that they had already beaten Atrocitus…or that the Anti-Monitor existed here…inside of the regular universe. Holy shit.
He/it has a rather different origin though despite still being related to Krona’s experiments, so it’s probably not quite as powerful as its comic book incarnation.
[details=Spoiler]Too bad it doesn’t have to be kill off Aya effortlessly.
…Fuck. Even though I saw it coming between the episode title and her going after Razor, that still hurt to see.[/details]
I also feel annoyed last week’s episode was one I missed since I tend to like Sinestro.
Sinestro was golden on last week’s episode… such a classic moment there-- “I didn’t kill him, Hal… I just didn’t save him…in time. …tragic accident, really.” That was the shit. That’s how I’d roll if I were a super “hero”.
The end of this episode was a rough one…
blahblah
[details=Spoiler] I’m hoping Aya can just be rebuilt, but that takes all the dramatic weight out of the death when characters are simply brought back later. I always imagined that if I were writing/drawing comics or producing a cartoon like this… any time one of my characters dies, I’d have a rule that they should stay dead…you should really just see them again if the story goes back in time or does a “What if…?” tangent or something.
Anyway, this is harsh on Razor, man… his old girl got killed apparently, then his new robot girl he’s falling for ends up getting killed too. [/details]
…on another note, that little meatball-looking dude keeps reminding me of MODOK. I keep waiting for him to hit people with analyze cubes.
This show is the reason to watch DC Nation. It is super solid. Sinestro? Awesome interpretation that’s totally true to the character, and good setup fodder for what he will become (or will he?). But god damn, I didn’t expect Razer to have to go through that tragedy again. Holy. Fuck.
Apparently got cancelled along with YJ.
Wow…that’s a bitch move there, Cartoon Network.
