Apparently DC is going all out and treating the Green Lantern movie as a superhero team movie that will eventually expand to the wider GL universe. The first movie is rumored to focus almost entirely on Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and MAYBE Guy Garner. DC seems iffy on putting him with the other 2.
Personally I would rather they use Kyle Rayner as the 3rd lantern. John and Kyle together in the same movie would be a dream. Rumor has it that Chris Pine is scheduled to play Hal. Stewart’s actor is still up in the air and could be anyone.
I normally avoid that thread. Shit moves too fast and I hate playing catch up in threads. No to mention you guys change subjects at the drop of a hat.
In more Lantern news though Tyrese’s stupid ass is campaigning for the role of John. He would be so shit for the role DC might actually give him the part.
Warner Bros and DC are moving aggressively on a new screen version of Green Lantern. They’ve set David Goyer to write the script with Justin Rhodes for Green Lantern Corps, with Goyer producing and with DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg exec producing. The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The focus will be on two characters: Hal Jordan, and John Stewart. The latter is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corp and the story very much focuses on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps. The story was conceived by Goyer and Johns.
Green Lantern for me is always one of those things for me where, even if the characterizations and the pedigree of the whole thing are top notch, the actual mythos is too silly.
The cosmic power of the ‘emotional spectrum’? My ring must be powered by apathy.
I like the characters, and I think they work well in Earth based stories or Justice League stuff, but the moment they go into talking about the origins and background it all falls apart for me.
