Totally coincidentally Christianity is also the mainstream ‘default’ religion of just about everywhere people taking part in this discussion are from, which makes it nice and rebellionworthy. Islam get picked out because of the whole 9/11-terrorism thing. People never really go after Judaism though, I presume its because they’re afraid of appearing anti-semitic… although really, if the other 2 get the hate they should too, all 3 faiths are very closely related.
I think Judaism gets a free pass for the most part because there is no gospel they must proclaim. For the most part all they are told to do is live by the law and be good. So unlike the other 2, Judaism is all about you in that theres no message they have to proclaim to the world so nobody has an issue with them cuz they stay to themselves.

Hmm… Atheists have referenced the events written in the Pentateuch, which is more of an attack to Judaism than Christianity. They do have a message but it’s ancestral than global and it hasn’t shoved religious politics for a long time.

anyone who has basic reading ability can see the contradictions and scientific errors in the bible. you don’t even need to go to a website. all it takes is intellectual honesty. the reason christians can’t see them is because they presuppose the bible is real, and come up with all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify it. that’s why its pointless to even argue with fundies. who incited david to take a census of israel, satan or god? the fundies come up with some crap answer, and the only people who buy it are other people who have low intelligence.

You didn’t get the part I responded to? Communism works because it sets up its leaders as gods. It copied a successful model from religion. Religion gains its power by discouraging intellectual honesty and critical thinking, which leads to atrocities. Communism got its success by copying that.
you misread my argument. your statement only holds true for judaism, christianity, and islam, which worship the same god, and have their own practice. that does not hold true for the other world religions, who worship multiple gods, or don’t even believe in a personal deity (religions like taoism don’t have a concept of god period).
nope i read the bible multiple times as a believer, just like most ex christians. its hard to believe after you fully read the text, no wonder the church didn’t want it translated. religion is a business, and its good for business if the people remain ignorant.

Good arguments have came and never been refuted yet. I’m still waiting for an academic support or at least a common example. Life, Universe, the nature of energy and how things begin to work on it’s motion is the evidence (or debate) presented… so until someone here shows at least a COMMON EXAMPLE that all these things can happen with out any intelligent intervention then my 6+ year undefeated streak lives on.
There have been atheists who killed for atheistic reasons. ethics and morality are established from empathy. that which causes sufferings to others is bad, that which brings happiness is good. humans have evolved to be social animals, and so we favor systems of ethics that encourage people to live in harmony. so that is why i think murder is wrong.
so with that said, you have three desert dogma religions that have racked up a huge kill count, and are still going strong, and you have other religions whose kill count isn’t even close. objectively, the desert dogma religions suck balls.
