Huh, Tough looks logical. It’s also well drawn, no incorrect muscule proportions to such shocking extent as in Baki. When you see this, you can feel fights energized by essence of speed and pain itself. Well-developed chars as Heizo, Samon, Kiibo, etc. Badass fights “i’ll snap your cock off and strangle ya with it” And yes, there’no chicks there. It’s just like Baki, but is bearable to read.
Ippo is pretty good (not counting Ippo the Tank who won’t fall even against Yujiro). Can’t understand these who call it a LQ manga.
I liked Prisoner arc in Baki due to Speck. Dude beat Baki in a single kick, trolled him by someone’s uprooted hand… My brain does a flip if I try reading it again. SOO was still good, but the way Oliva all of a sudden became weakling is impossible. Too bad it happened. And the saddest thing is the fact that Jack, whose every effort in his life was devoted to outpower Yujiro, is forced to stay away from the main plot. At least he did real training and wasn’t messing around as Baki.
Btw, why no one listed Shamo? Brutal, humorless, and scary as face of Barbara Streisand without makeup. Together with all this psychological stuff, it makes a good mix up. The silence of the lambs with martial arts, lol.
I can’t take Kiryu seriously, which means I can’t care about Tough. I mean, it can be interesting, but it can’t be that good.
Kamogawa gym sucks, no corner-men and only one of them is worth anything.
Aoki and Kimura can’t win.
Takamura completely undermines Ippo and is probably the biggest Mary Sue in manga.
Ippo’s fights are just there to draw shit out. He is miles away from beating Martinez when he pulls wins out of his ass against monkey boy and a medicore boxer that loosens his gloves. His last fight literally had a chapter where nothing happened. 1000 chapters for what?
Shamo never developed. Had tons of potential, but fizzled.
I’m assuming you missed when Baki created images from his mind to fight for training. Like some pro boxer and a life sized praying mantis. And when they hit, he actually got hurt.
Too bad he didn’t use his amazing imaginary powers to handle his sex life.
Mike Tyson >:P(which really brought my piss to a boil as it was yet again taking a dump on boxing, after the whole Ali Jr. thing being an almost attempt at treating boxing seriously in the manga, speaking of which, wtf happened with Retsu and Uribi Bolt(whom many of us think is a fourth Hanma)?
^The boxer who grabbed Retsu after he defeated Smokin Joe’. Obviously inspired by real life athlete Usain Bolt, though in the manga he looks like a black Jack
