Oh damn, that’d be nuts if GTA V came out so soon. Usually the games are in development for a lot longer than under 12 months. I just bought GTA IV yesterday too, heh.

grand theft auto 4 (like gta3 liberty city) is basically the skin/structure for the future releases, the liberty city title should of told you that

Im one of the people that was pointing this out, gta4’s mechanics are FAAARRRRRR beyond any game world that’s out now. the single player was boring to me i only played an hour of it, but im not ignorant

Yeah the spin-offs on PSP didn’t take long, but that is because like you said they used areas that were already made. The main games though, those took quite a while between releases. I really doubt GTA V will be in LC. They got the game engine they need, but it should take a while to make a new huge city and landscape, new characters, voice overs, mission concepts, etc.

sorry what I should of said is that liberty city is always the practice ground, they may be making new characters/locations/functions etc but the skeleton/base is always the same

gta 3 liberty city was bland as hell (excellent skeleton)

gta 3: vice city added colour, personality, bikes, nature

gta 3: san andress added more nature, more technology, deeper personality, and deepened the interaction with your protagonist

now comes gta 4

gta 4: was bland as hell (excellent skeleton)

gta 4: neo tokyo added all kinds of craziness

Beyond the unrivaled sandbox style world what makes gta4 such a winner is the charm/personality of the characters as well as the story so in that regard the expansion doesn’t disappoint it’s a must buy if you liked gta4.

Is anyone playing GTAIV on the PC?

I’m wondering how it is now. Did the patches significantly fix problems people were having?

I really wish I could have a combination of GTAIV + SA-MP. Would be great to have GTAIV’s gameplay along with servers that can hold up to 500 people at a time and many different scriptable game modes.

Now that I think about it, is anyone playing SA-MP? I mentioned it in the PC thread.

I downloaded TBOGT today. Story line wise it seems pretty solid but its a bit early to tell as they all start off the same, driving people around. One thing I dont like is they have implemented a system which scores your mission out of 100% (with targets they have pre set for you to meet). They are a few achievement’s related to your scores and it seems like a cheap way of getting people to spend more time on the game. It could be seriously annoying getting them all to 100% also.

I dont know if the friend system is exactly the same as GTA IV but somebody did call me up before and I chose not to meet with them, which showed on screen my character receiving negative points for that certain relationship. This annoyed the hell out of me in number 4 and LATD was so much better without it.

if i download “episodes from liberty city” on my ps3… will it show up on my other ps3 (same account) as well?

I believe it will only work on the ps3 you download it on. Its not saved on your profile its saved on you console hard drive. You would need to transfer it via external hard drive if ps3 allows that.
