Agreed with this on Bison tactics. If you’re in down back, he can only throw, focus, or attempt to cross up. If he’s maxed out the zero distance between you, then you’re looking at a throw or focus. If he’s got some distance, most like either going to go for scissor kick shenanigans or a cross up.

I fought a decent Bison last Friday who loved to poke at me with Devil’s Stop/Devil’s Reverse Tactics and mix me up with those. He’d rarely use Scissor Kick block strings.

I made the mistake of allowing him to bait me into jumping or kongo-ing out and that’s when I got whacked hard. I should have realized that those tactics can be pretty useless if you block/tech. Afterwards, just take Raun’s advice and press the advantage HARD when he messes up during other tactics.

I think its matchup specific, as in who your playing. To say the base rule is to defend against Dic, is somewhat wrong. I think spacing from Dic’s strongest attack range is of MONDO importance. That isv to say stay infront of the scissor kick range. Just right outside that you may poke his missed scissor attempts. Some Dic players come hard, some have respect for the old man. I think backdash, and front dash are important because you take away his effectiveness by moving out of range. So play space games

bison isnt as annoying if you just resign yourself to blocking a lot.
he is still one of the hardest fights, but if you are in down back, the only thing he can do is throw you.
if you wait for an opening to jump or kongo, you are probably getting baited.
just block and poke at him until you can safely cross him up to get out of the corner.
i play against geom dc hustle’s bison a lot.
if you want to challenge yourself, get him to play a set with you.
he crushes me.

when you back in corner, Bison sometimes will hold back about 1-2 character spacing, which is good for either -> scissors kick OR st.HK. Just wait and do a heavy Gouken Flip sweep and you should be able to get out.

Have used Gouken for quite a while, do have character-specific strats but not enough.

When I looked at the character record, the lowest win-rate against the following characters:-
Adon
Dictator
Rufus
C.Viper
Seth
Fei Long

A decent tip I took from fighting Rose as is that if you’re about mid-screen’s distance away from her and she’s reflecting your fireballs back at you, don’t forget that you can mp/lp Palm through them as she’s returning them to you.

I believe you can punish her hard for doing so if you’re in lp/mp Palm range. Moreso effective at the longer (mp) range. hp.palm range I believe is ineffective though.

Also, lilman, Kudos on your Gouken short game and footsies. I really liked watching that video.

Also, has anyone every tried to counter the Rose orbs? Just a thought.

Those forward dashes into cr.mp to lp-fireball arent so hard. During the dash move you only have to prepare for a cr.mp, by going down with your pad/stick, then making the quarter circle move. If you do the quarter circle move to early a palm comes out. So it is only a matter of timing.

this is an incorrect statement. When playing footsies and walking back and forth or doing a dash the mp hado (or crouching forward for shotos) the quarter circle motion then has to become a half circle forward motion to insure the dp doesnt come out. Please do more research before you provide false information.

Thanks for the info Raun. I wondered for a second, as Kongo > any projectile and > any projectile Ultra. I didn’t know if the orbs classified as projectiles. But now they’re armor breaking. Yikes. That’s dangerous.
