Gouken Videos

(backthrow > ex palm > 6 hit denjin) = 450/630 and works on everyone with lenient timing.
(backthrow > ex fireball > lp. palm > denjin) = 419/640 but has strict timing and does not work on gen, viper, sakura or deejay.

Hmm more damage and more lenient timing hmm thanks. I really haven’t hit training mode with gouken just a little with hawk. And hawk gets destroyed by gouken as you’ve proved LOL God damn neutral jumps heh

If you FDAC out of ex palm you can get a 6 hit charge; you can also do a j.mp to denjin.

you can also get a 6 hit charge out of backthrow, ex palm, denjin on the corner. does about 600~700 stun and 450 dmg.

Nice, a full kill combo on viper. I wish it was possible to land a full charge denjin on her(or anyone).

I have been uploading XBL battles to youtube lately, my main is going to be Gouken. Please take a look, comment if possible.

Here is a vid of Desora playing as Gouken. He is great with Gouken’s normals.

i love watching desora play!

What the hell happened here? I was playing around in Endless mode, trying out the new Gouken and this is what happened:

It could be I read something about it during vanilla.

It’s called an armor cancel. When you absorb an attack with something that has super armor (but not a regular focus attack) you can cancel it into an ultra, super, or EX move.

I always though that wasnt possible with Goukens’ counter properties.

Interesting this happned to me the other day and It was pretty klutch considering I would about to lose the match lol

Must master this!!!

Raunwynn, can you watch some of my vids. If possible, let me have some of your comments. I currently have a hard time with Chun-Li, Dictator, Blanka.

Thanks and here’s the link, http://www.youtube.com/user/viperRX

hmmmmmmm, all charge characters eh?

i will upload some videos of the replays i have seen on xbox live. they’re pretty good.

you seem to play well against dictator.
i dont think there is a gouken method for shutting him down, he is a hard fight.
in your match with chun li i thought you were a little too eager to engage in melee with her.
your zoning is very effective against chun li, especially when she picks u2.
just shoot fireballs at her and watch her sit on your angled ones with her jump and flip kick.
once she is attacking you, she wont be doing as much of that annoying stuff that makes her so hard to attack.
i dont think chun li is an easy fight, i think it is pretty even, but she has to come to you.
with blanka you need to be good at punishing blanka balls, slides and jump-ins.
you need to make sure you shoot fireballs at him to get him to do these things.
if you can shoot fireballs without getting punished by slides, blanka balls and jump-ins, i think you will have a strong game against blanka.
upward angled fireballs are actually good against him!
they stop the jump and trade with his balls.
lk. demon flips from outside of your range have a chance to bait a slide for a huge punish.
if you get a sweep you can do an immediate df with an immediate dive kick and be able to block his ex upball, then punish with palm.
doing that a couple of times should let you jump on him a couple of times.

Not doable I’m afraid. The dive kick doesn’t hit, it whiffs because you’ve landed too early (that’s why you can block) and if you time it to hit on the dive kick’s last active frame, you take a standing hit from the upball. Not technically a safe jump, it’s just a bait. 4 frame reversals can actually beat a safe jump dive kick, but not a regular safe jump.

i dont understand you.
you say it doesnt work, then you say it works.
i never said it was a safe jump.

Basically what you were describing is following up a sweep with a Demon Flip dive kick as soon as the sweep recovery ends. If you do this and dive kick at the first opportunity during the Demon Flip, Gouken lands so that any 4 frames and up reversals can be blocked, but it also means that the dive kick doesn’t hit because the opponent technically hasn’t got up yet. Now, if you delay the timing on the dive kick for a frame later so that it WOULD hit them as they get up (the same timing you do for, say, safe dive kicking Sagat after a sweep), any 4 frame reversals will hit Gouken as if he was grounded, he hits the floor but cannot block because the landing frames from the dive kick don’t allow him to.

Normal jump ins allow you to put pressure on Blanka’s wakeup and still block his EX Upball, because they can actually safe jump his reversal attempts. They’re generally preferable in this matchup when Blanka has meter. With no meter though, dive kick with impunity.

The tactic you described is really just a bait - Blanka has no reason to be afraid of it, he could just throw and Gouken has to tech or do something drastic that could be punishable. They could just jump away if they wanted. I think it will trick a lesser Blanka without a heavy knowledge of the Gouken matchup, but if it’s worked for you then all power to you.
