Here are some vids from G1. Unfortunately its still pretty barren there so you fight the same people over and over again. Hard to find anyone with a decent connection after round 2. Recording directly off my TV now so the quality is much better than my previous vids. Any tips to up my game would be appreciated. I think ive become a lot more patient with my Gouken and bide my time instead of always looking for ways to land that big combo.

nice matches. a few of the ryu looked a bit slow on the short game. our styles are similar but you are def. more solid on your c.fp anti-jumpin and throw tech.
i need to play more than 2 evenings a week to get into G1 quicker…
awesome videos phunkism!
the second round in the last video was hilarious, it was like god was punishing you for being a superb gouken.
i definitely want to incorporate more demon flip throws after watching you play.
a meaty demon flip kick is so good that i overlook the guaranteed damage and psychological pressure of using the throw.
you use a lot of ex demon flips as well.
many times i attempt to weather the storm on wakeup instead of just df’ing out.
i will probably start using that more often as well.
Thanks for this, it worked very well. Its such a shame back throw is so easy to tech though at the same time I can understand the design decision justifying it.
very dynamic!
your style against ryu is closer to mine than phunkism’s is.
i throw a fireball now and then and mostly try to take advantage of open spots with big combos.
you use more moves than i do though and vary your approach more as well.
i almost never use tatsu.
in addition to the terrible position if you miss and the unsettling position after they safe fall, tatsu screws you up if they get dizzied on the way up.
i hate that move.
i only do it as overkill flair in the corner or after backthrow.
after watching you and phunkism i like setting up demon flip after backthrow, but i have not started to do it yet.
most of the time i am glad for the damage and drill them happily with hk tatsu.
i also do not use low medium punch very often.
its a great poke but the undeniable fact is that people simply eat crouching fierce xx ex palm too often for me to justify wasting an opportunity on c. mp XX block damage.
almost every bar i have goes to c.fp xx ex palm.
if they block it, i try a counter or ultra (lol stupid but i keep hitting with it so i have ken disease) until they consistently punish me.
what happened to you last week?
i was in a game when you challenged me but when i got out i sent a challenge to you and waited until you logged off!
I came away from these videos very impressed by your usage of backdash + crouch HP. Really shut down the jump-ins. Good work.
Shogun Assassin’s videos were fun but, honestly, that Ryu was completely overwhelmed. He could have mashed out SRK plenty of times there and froze up instead. The cross-under combo was pretty cool though.
Counter/Ultra after blocked EX palm is basically a online-only frame lag trick. No decent Ryu is going to miss that reversal offline.
yeah, i should have said that my style is similar to dirty bodega’s when i am trashing ryu.
against a good ryu i have a lot of problems.
even online some ryus drill the blocked ex and normal palms.
unfortunately it works often enough for it to be worth the risk.
if i get hit by a reversal dp, oh well 100 or so damage.
thats my awesome mixup fellas, ultra after blocked palm!
I don’t see how this is funny -_-). Locked for contributing? This thread lacked what a “<name> Video” thread is supposed to do–provide videos in a somewhat organized fashion.
I know that you started the other video thread with good intentions, but the fact of the matter is, this video thread started LONG before SFIV on consoles even came out and was most likely even stickied before the console SFIV came out so it’s not something that someone can just walk in and replace, even IF the original post is no longer updated.
Besides, it’s not like the thread is dead. There are still people making discussions and posting videos here and it’s not like the older videos on this thread no longer work. Sure you may have to do a bit of digging, but that doesn’t mean this piece of resource is obsolete. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. And while this thread may be disorganized, it most certainly isn’t broken, I can tell you that.
I’m sorry your thread got closed. But for now, just make the best use of this one is all I can say.
