every gouken needs to utilize his kara throws and kara fireballs. Ill have a videp up where i show what i believe to be an infinite blockstring with kara fbs in the corner.

Are you talking about s.mk xx fireball?
Hey mamma there goes that man!!

Don’t cross Sim up in the corner, it lets him get out. If you cross him up and he techs a throw then he just got out of the corner for free. Make him take risks like teleports or pushing you back with normals.
Good tip. That’s a bad habit I need to break in general.
wow wasnt even sure or aware he even had this. Could you put up a vid or expalin, what your cancel to do hi kara FB to be excact. Is it also only done with lp gohadou??? let me now…
ok time for sum Gouken vids b4 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I’ll post a video of it later this evening.
Yeah somebody needs to get a video of it up asap. my capture card is awol right now.
So, about his kara shit… just to give some spoliers…
his best kara is his st.HK(RH from now on).
so if you basically plink a fireball with roundhouse you can move him ~2-3 little squares in the training room. This doesnt look like much at first, but th elater you execute the kara’d RH before you input the punch for the fireball, the more forward motion he gets.
Basically it means if you always kara his fireballs in the corner with something like
jab>jab>jab>cr.short>Kara fireball>cr.strong>kara fireball you moved closer and can execute another cr.strong, or be in sweep distance, or have better positioning in general depending on matchup.
Where this kara technique really shines though is mid screen fireball wars, and mid screen post Demon flip DK stuff like
DFDK>st.mpxxkarafb>st.mkxxkarafb>cr.Mpkarafb
as long as your properly doing the kara fireball you can add a extra normal or two(in some cases) after the fireball in a block string, or position yourself for gnarly counter hit set ups.
The best use of kara fbs Ive found is >>in corner>>
j.HP or DFDK or regular jumping divekick>st.MPxxkara FB>st.MKxxkara FB>(plink) st.MKxxkaraFB etc etc forever.
Gouken wont move at all if you kara fireball after st.mk in the corner because the kara negates any pushback. If you dont kara the fireball after st.MK it looks like you arent moving back but you will after awhile, and also you are at ~0 on block without kara’ing the fireballs. The kara moves you closer after you quickly cancel to fireball so when you plink the st.MK to come out at the earliest possible frame, you end up @~+1 on block if my frame math is right. So, basically its an infinite block string composed of like 1 frame links. Ive been trying it out in the training room with a dummy on mash srks and other 3 frame reversals and i can get to about 6 iterations before i get mashed out. When i play real life comp though i always get awesome counterhit setups and am in a really good close kara backgrab range. I think every gouken should be trying this shit.
you know, fuck it. Ill just make the thread with a more organized paragraph and link it for you guys. I’ll try and get a video up asap.
As far as I know you can’t do kara cancels off of normals when you cancel into specials. You can do s.mp xx fireball -> s.mk xx fireball -> cr.mp xx fireball midscreen without any type of kara. I think the opponent has to be crouching though.
After a blocked fireball at point blank you’re +2.
s.mk xx fireball can be done at least eight times in the corner without any sort of kara. I always mess it up by then. The big problem with s.mk xx fireball is that you can be hit out in between the s.mk and the fireball kinda easily (by mashing throw, for example). The big advantage though is that if the s.mk gets a counter-hit it will combo into the fireball and into the next s.mk (or a sweep or cr.hp).
However last night I did check out s.hk kara fireballs and they do move Gouken forwards a nice distance. Unfortunately I don’t think you can do the kara with any other special because all of Gouken’s other special inputs are different moves with a kick or punch input on the same motion.

You can only properly Kara blank fireballs. Kiku is correct.
Goodshit
i new he could kara RH… No clue why it didnt dawn to kara fb like sagat/ will work on this when i start playing again. I didnt think the kara grab was good cause of range, but kara FB looks good…:lovin: Are you plicking/drumming w/e the term is
Yes. Kara focus works the same as Ken too.
Guys, Thanks for the videos… I have just updated all the videos to the http://shoryuken.com/f268/gouken-consolidated-video-thread-249060/#post9432287
Let me know if i miss out any videos that u guys posted here…

VS Honda, Viper.
The timing is a little off on this dummy recording, but it still works. You can get full damage on Honda if it’s timed perfectly.
Works on a few other characters.

If rep was still around I’d be repping you through the roof. I never once thought about adding this to my arsenal and with Gouken, this has potential to be a HUGE pressure tactic to make the opponent open up and take risks: one of the primary tools in Gouken’s game.
Also, I’ll have some videos popping up soon. I was on a stream from a local tournament and I went 2/2, which is probably the best I’ve ever done with Gouken. I’d love the critiquing from you guys if you could.
