It is very much that. He used invincibility to get through it. 13f on that move. This isn’t exactly a common occurence. I’ve had people cancel a normal I caught into a DP and it still lost(ex dps would be different ofcourse) This seems fine to me.
I agree that there should be no escaping an activated kongo outside of armor breaking moves. There should be hit freeze or something that interrupts any further movements from the opponent. At this point, there’s not so I get that you’re frustrated but it wasn’t clear in your video post that you understood why that happened. It’s not as bullshit as Blanka knees or Bison EX Devil’s Reverse.
Here is another situation where goukens counter is beat when it should not have been. I sent this to capcom as well. No invincibility this time just pure bullshit. This happened to me not even an hour ago. This shit should be fix

It’s not bullshit lol. We can’t have Gouken’s hitbox extend way past his arms. At that point it’s broken. It may not be broken to you for your own greed’s sake, but to other players, it will be. If you think huge hitboxes on other characters are considered OP, you should think the same about having a larger hitbox on Kongo.
The invincibility makes perfect sense. It’s already a good balance that this awesome counter-attack tool has an equally weighted flaw that is the short active frames and long recovery.
Well, it makes sense if you consider the fairness of it in the entire game. For the price of a few situations where kongo whiffs, we (gouken players) have this awesome special move no one else has. There’s little to complain about. It would also help if you understood the nature of frame data and hitbox. That’s probably why I have no problems with this. And to back this statement up, I have experienced whiffing kongo on Ryu’s cr.mk myself. Didn’t even care.
First off I very well understand how hitboxes and frame data work. Second I 150% stand by my statement. It still bullshit and I will forever stand by that. I have worked hard learning this character and I would like for my fucking tools to work like they are suppose to. Kongo is not an easy move to use and you are lucky to even get the move off in a high level match. So when I do manage to get this move off I would like to not have these complications.
You act as if kongo is a super good move. it has plenty of ways to counter this move, grabs, armor break, reversals, and doing nothing / bait. With those in mind getting unless your opponent is low skilled you will have a hard time pulling this move off.

Capcom should make it where if you touch the kongo you get sucked in really quick and then knocked back regardless of where you are unless its a projectile then I would understand. There is nothing OP about that and it would insure that our kongo would work 100% of the time. Thats prob never going to happen so I guess I need to just suck it up or play another character which is prob the best idea TBO.

From a very broad standpoint- looking at the move compared to all other moves in the game, it ain’t that bad of a move at all. I mean, you’re using it too. That should indicate its value.
Well… reading your posts, I’m seeing a lot of “I want this, I want that”, “make this work”, “I don’t care, it’s what I want”. I made a good read on that rose player and I got punished for it. That shit should NOT happen plain and simple. I would just play another character right now but its too late in AE 2012 life span and I might as well stick it out with gouken till ultra. Honestly I need to just stop playing this game all together its fucking stupid as hell…
I think about that everytime someone destroys me with 3-frame-invincible-shoryu-happy-shotos.
I mean… Gouken is not weak, he is broken.
Sometimes it seems like it’s intentional. Like he was meant to NOT work as it should, because if he did, people would perceive him as overpowered.
If combos and reversals were not such an important part of the game design itself, Gouken would be stronger.
The only design that I liked to play with is broken and capcom doesn’t want to fix unpopular characters to max level.
Then again, Sagat was S tier in SF4 and even so there weren’t that many Sagat players destroying everyone in champs.
I look at the roster and the fact that I spend so much time on Gouken, and maybe I will never be able to win as much as shoryu happy guys because my char sucks… I should just play with someone else that had a highter winning chance but it’s not that simple, is it? Learn all the footsies and combos and timings… it’s time consuming and I don’t think I have that time right now so… It’s kinda depressing.
USF4 at least in it’s current state does not make me any more hopeful… I mean you guys saw the sigh “buffs and fixes” Gouken got… You all saw Rolento.

ps: That kongo video is not a good example, btw… Rose turns around when she does that move, doesn’t she? Then her hitbox escaped kongo’s radius. Unpredictable, but I can’t say that it was wrong.
yet should she not be commended for using amove that cancels her normals frames to place herself outside the risk area? The move she did has an inherent risk, it is not a true blockstring. This ties in that it is far away from the kongo when it happens.
I feel your pain I think it should have hit as well, but unless Capcom increases the active hit frames/invincible once Gouken stomps… We are going to just have to not kongo certain attacks or strings from max distance.
I wouldn’t say drop him just b/c of that, maybe take some time off and come back refreshed.
She was at max range and did a cancel that moved her out of blast radius, and by the time she spiraled you, kongo’s invincibility/blast had already worn off… LMAO… It’s BS, but a few characters can do this to us. lol.
If you pause the video from :04 seconds throughout, you’ll get a better idea of what happened.

Maybe, but I think we will be ok as long as certain things stay the same. From system changes, buffs, and nerfs to other characters… Gouken should see a bunch of benefits.
I’m not sure if he’s going to be better than this character or that character but he’s definitely going to be better.
This MF with EX Meter is going to be a problem!!! and I’m looking forward to Ultra… and we’ll have 5 extra characters to choose from… so it shouldn’t be a reason anyone can’t find an alt. character with a cast of 40+ characters.
I want to at least play it before I pass my final judgement… not unless they come with the Super Nerf hammer outta the blue.
This is far from being the final update for this series. We will get another version/patch in 2015… with all of these system changes, there is bound to be something that is going to be exposed. It always is.
