The best way to beat guile for me is to ground your game, throw fireballs to force him to jump, since he cant just fb into backfist because of goukens fast fb recovery.

You can out fireball him pretty easily provided he doesnt have ex.

stay at mid range and once he advances, start with the dive kicks(mix up the ranges to make him switch anti-airs), cross ups(that make him lose charge, removing his reversal ability: once he lost charge his only reliable way to avoid throws is teching)

Cross up doesn’t remove Guile’s charge, Flash Kick is a down charge, meaning it doesn’t matter if you cross him up, he’s still charging down.

The game has always been unbalanced, someone won a tourney with a glitch waaaay bac in the daze.

True, but you can also time your cross ups to safe jump as well. Its also a gray area where if he tries to flash kick he will go the opposite way. Aside from flash kick he has diddly shit to stop Goukens frame traps, so if he has less than 2 ex bars force him to make decisions instead of just throwing sonic booms and waiting to flash kick or air grab you.

Also if he’s running away allow him to back himself in the corner, that way he has to wait longer to charge his bullshit.

Guile is a walk in the park compared to chun li.

Prevent chun from buildibg bar faster than she needs to. I can generally play her safe jump and bait sweep or throw ,mixups w/ sweep , Then bait her ex bird a couple times and its a wrap…but still 5-5 in my mind

Yeah her wake up without ex is trash, even with ex you can safe jump and stuff her to oki her. I still think she’s better than guile bc she has more tools.

You can safe the ex bird w normals and flip foot they have to be delayed as hell at least …or on her crossup side calf or thigh

You can autocorrect lk flash kick every crossup unless it’s also a true safe jump (rare).

Why would a safe jump rare? Its no different than any other safe jump or srk stuff. You just practice the timing until its second nature or you can continue to knock guile down and don’t do shit to pressure him.

I’m not here to have a debate about it, I have no problem facing guile.

Show me a setup where Gouken does a crossup and the opponent does a reversal DP but Gouken blocks it.

I said srk stuff. And you can faux safe jump and land right before the srk activates and you can block it.

I put all of this in the shoto vortex section of the dojo thread.

Lordofultima also put a variation of this in his vortex video. It wasn’t a cross up but the same timing applies.

If a gouken user jumps in the same way everytime they deserve to be punished.

Desora is very good.

It’s +6 on hit. +2 on hit.

My point was that Guile can autocorrect flash kick crossups basically every time because Gouken doesn’t have a safe jump crossup setup. So people should not view the crossup as ‘free.’

I cross up people all the time on wakeup but on opponents I really respect I need to mix in divekicks and safe jumps in order to not get punished for wakeup pressure.

Takin Flight and I discovered this a while back in Vanilla.

For example if you forward throw some one in the corner, what’s preventing you from crossing them up per safe jump before they get up??

I think that example is a little risky bc it puts gouken in the corner but that’s an easy set up provided you’ve conditoned them to try to reversal.

After multi hit ultra and super is very doable as well bc you have enough time to dash up and cross safely to pull it off.

We must think outside of the box.

From the default distance of the forward throw you can fdash 2 times and u are in position for the meatiest crossup mk of ur life , or dash forward once then jump early ,u can bait all the dragon punches you want on the front side.

No offense but how could you be playing him thus far and not be aware of the invaluable x-up middle?

Off a forward throw I always do the dash -> DF dive kick.
