There’s a Gouken @ Canada Cup?! I can’t watch now, but I’m gonna have to check out the archive.
Once you get to the archive, be sure to watch the Gouken vs Sagat match. The later Gouken vs Akuma match is a depressing sight indeed…
Is there a link to the archive???
It’s in the video thread now
Just saw it, thanks. I thought I was going to see somebody get R Kelly’d or something. It’s amazing how some one doesn’t know the match and it causes all this buzz about the character possibly being broken.
Just a bunch of shitbag trolls. Not a one of them thinks him broken, and if they do they just got the game a week ago.
FUCK EM ALL
Ive decided to only main gouken in AE 2012 untill I master all his match ups. I have hope that he will be able to hold his own in that version and working only on 1 character will be better for myhead. I don’t have the time to be learning match ups with 2 characters plus I honestly hate playing charge characters with a passion and storing charge is a pain in the ass lol. Im droping bison and i don’t even really like him that much.
I can honestly say I really enjoy playing gouken and I only want to play a character i enjoy. I don’t really like anyone else in the game to be honest. So just gouken it is.
I’m going to give the patch a few weeks, time I’ll spend playing with a fair amount of the cast, before I decide on which character to focus.
Playing Climaxter has shown me that I need to focus on match up knowledge, I try to get by on gimmicks and mind games, and that shit doesn’t always fly.
I used to play Dan exclusively then I started to dabble in other characters to flesh out my match up knowledge, but i lost focus on that goal and now I’m spreading myself too thin.
I’ll likely focus on Gouken or Adon, maybe Cody. We’ll see once 2012 comes out…
Viable or not, Gouken is fun as hell to play. Something so satisfying about predicting your opponents jumping pattern and tagging them with diagonal hados. Oh yeah, and a low Kongo against a predictable Chun… yeah, Gouken is hellishly fun.
Yeah man, I’ve noticed that you have improved since the last time we played. I suppose you noticed that I approached your characters differently depending on who you chose. It takes a lot of time to know what the go to approach is, what gives Gouken the best chance at winning. It doesn’t always work and the better a player is, the less sticking to a specific approach is going to be effective. I went 17 in a row in that room until I started fighting some laggy charge characters. Then I left and had some homemade ham for dinner. I’m taking this game much less seriously now.
homemade ham? you slaughter your own pigs?
Errr…LOL!
Store bought ham that needed to be cooked and glazed at home…?
Awesome. Fuck laggy charge characters, bane of my online play sessions.
I just realized I don’t incorporate cross ups into my Gouken at all. Not at all. Even though I abuse the hell out of them with my other characters. Weird.
My problem is that I don’t take the game at all seriously, it is purely for fun. I get to this point where I want to progress and decide to make the change to my arcade stick and hit the training room… and then I realize I just want to unwind after work for 30-45 minutes, or play for a bit before bed.
Scrub tier forever.
Gouken has one of the best cross ups in the game and you should abuse the shit out of it. He also has a decent cross under after ex palm, either fadc midscreen or no fadc in the corner. Experiment with different attacks. I like to fadc after ex palm, dash once and then dj.hp or mk, then dash under, cr.hp xx ex palm. If you land this, you basically win. You can mess with their heads and dash late so you don’t cross under though it looks like you will. It’s a good mix up but harder to use against srk mashers.
What I love about Gouken is the way he carry himself. Gouksn has hidden power waiting to be unlock… I wish Capcom could open up their eyes and see what we see* a Wonderful Master* waiting to be given his Power Of Nothings. All hale Gouken…
Yo, are you the same “The Truth” I’ve been running into using Fei? If so, gg’s

My tribute to the old man. 10 combos, more than half of which are completely impractical but look real cool imo. #8 be my favorite.
Yeah thats me but I main Gouken. I use Fei Long in SF4 then in super I pick Gouken.
#10 can be made cooler by countering and then j.mp xx tatsu
Thanks for those. 8 is my favorite as well.
I never use tatsu FADC to ultra mainly because the timing and spacing is too difficult for me outside of training mode; the dash/qcf motions online would just frustrate me.
Tip:Jump ins in this vid should be using hp except for crossups.
