Mike and Gootecks are one of the big things that got my hyped about SSF4 and the FGC again. Regardless of what Gootecks is like in person, the content him and Mike put out was pretty instrumental in me getting back into competitive gaming. Sad to see him leave the scene, hopefully he’ll still be a competitor – I’d like to meet him when I finally make it to EVO attendance level.

I think HAV said that Gootecks and Mike Ross would get in a fight over one of them trying to screw the other when it came to the show. Sounds like Gootecks got screwed by someone else in the scene NOT over something to do with the show (?), so it’s not quite the same.
It was definitely a scary time to bring up Gootecks leaving the FGC though, lol.
Also, it doesn’t seem like Gootecks would go to MLG as a commentator, since he knows nothing about any of their games and it doesn’t really seem like he’s had any interest in learning them. Maybe he would serve them in some other capacity, but I think it’s much more likely that he’ll just disappear for 6 months, then show up at a random major to hang out with friends.
This is what we have come to. He will be fine on whatever ventures he decides to go to. He knew to shift his focus away from the GAME aspect an switch to a show type format which worked wonders. We do not know what happened as usual until he directly states it.
The popularity of this community and the ‘trying to make a buck’ off of it has just simply removed the aspect of what we do n why.
Now people are taking shots at each other… people are lying on each other… people are ditching people an in the midst of all of this…we still dont have dominant players. we have super stars. you want your pro titles and esports… this is not the way. What happened to in game drama and issue?

This is too bad. Gootecks was always my favorite member of team Complexity and I’ve really enjoyed a lot of his projects. Excellent Adventures and Cross Counter always feels wrong when it’s Mike and somebody else. Can’t imagine really getting into it anymore.

No he didnt create it. However, I would dare to say he had a somewhat good hand in assisting the revival and growth of the community in the 2000s era… The community has been here ever since the Old day of Tips & Tricks magazine which started around mid 90s.
