Nothing’s going to go down. Speculation, is speculation, is speculation. I don’t know how else to put it. Not that Knives or Fanatic are wrong for bringing up the unlikely truth of the matter, which I can appreciate because everyone deserves the non sugar-coated truth if it is out there, but at the same time I honestly find myself going, “and?” Are Fanatic and Knives going to dismantle the establishment and reincarnate the scene as truth-seekers and “honest” FG players? No. They’re going to still go to and compete at tournaments, and do what they do same as anyone else most likely which realistically is worse in my mind. Having what you feel is a grasp of the truth and not doing anything about it doesn’t help anyone. All business where major money and an endless array of outside sources such as sponsors are somewhat corrupt. Each person, organization, or company does NOT always have the same motives for why they do what they do, they just have similarities that allow them to contribute and work together indefinitely.
I could sit here and be like Cross Counter definitely staged Noel Brown getting perfected by Knives because Noel Brown is a heel in the community, and Knives was the up and coming prodigal sparring partner of Fanatic and it makes for a great show. I could look at the video of Noel’s not so salty face after the perfect and go, “OMG NOEL DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE HE CARES; ALMOST LIKE HE WAS EXPECTING IT. THIS IS SO STAGED!” But none of that necessarily means that it’s true, it’s all speculation taken from random occurrences that justify a feeling of reasonable doubt. I don’t know what happened with Cross Counter, I don’t know the full story, but regardless I’ve known that money corrupts absolutely since I was 12 years old. I’ve known that not everything is spotless and by the books all of the time. These are common things you should understand by the time you hit puberty.
Even if there was some truth to it, none of the amount of bad would ever diminish how much I respect Gootecks, Mike Ross, and the abundance of tournament organizers for what they’ve done. Even if a foundation is built on sand, the fact remains that it was still built, instead of left to disappear.

My views on the situation now that it’s settled down and is possibly a LATE April fool’s joke:
I don’t really care about how they get the money because the tournaments are great and a big part of my life or if Fanatiq was just trying to start shit, but it’s really suspicious and has me intrigued for no other reason than I like solving e - mysteries. I hope shit goes down that doesn’t involve Mr. Wizard, EVO, or Gootecks getting arrested/shut down.

Games haven’t been “fun” since SF4 came out -__-… Especially competitively… SF4 competition, not fun. MVC3 competition, not fun. SF2, still pretty fun to play competitively. SF3, PRETTY DAMN FUN. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if people started dropping out because the games aren’t “fun,” anymore. The rules (system direction and the true lack of a game where button mashing is fun but winning is an art) too strict and the expense is too much for something that one can’t enjoy.
He probably didn’t get paid enough. Plus, he even said in a video somewhere that he is in big debt and has bad credit. Probably left for a financial reason.
