Correct. Business is business… but this scene is like the Mafia (if your serious with it). Sure you can ‘retire’ or better yet ‘take time off’ but you will always be tied to it. You may leave your group an start your own family (valle, watson, cole,)… hell you may take time an move away but you will get called upon for advice for the new blood (tomo, jetphi, dreamtr…etc)… or better yet the la fightermila made you infiltrate factions to really help the families expand (seth k, bucktooth, arturo…an maybe gootecks…etc.)…just examples…
Thats how I see the SERIOUS players/contributors of the FGC. sure you can step back… catch up to life an get that REAL money and family. but trust an believe all it takes is a good instance to pull you right back in. All of them return… even if its just SHOWING up. You dont leave the FGC Mafia [la fighter nostra-- this thing of ours]… once your in thats it. Said I was done back in 07’…pfft yeah ok.

Gootecks is at the SFxT Super Arcade tournament. Watched him play on stream. He looks… ragged and stressed. It even translated in his playstyle, making mistakes (giving away life leads,…). Weird.

Just I think the man (not the gamer… not the host) just simply wants to keep moving up the ladder. you can stay stuck an in this VERY short lived super-star portion of the FGC you have to have multiple path laid out to keep moving up. I see him simply (again speaking business) asking for a bit more (like a raise) from the faction that he was working for/with an it wasn’t happening. No ill will but he obviously has already had a plan b lined up to make that power move. much power to the man. I won’t get into the bullshyt rumors, issues, gossip that this community runs to when simply power moves are being made (see arturo an his new venture). an sometimes those moves can help the community move forward as it should…

Wow… I’m so sad right now. Today’s gonna be a sad, sad day. After watching the latest CC Live, I really am sad. I started playing fighting games between SF4 and SSF4 and when I saw CC on Machinima I immediately subscribed to them and have been following every single thing they’ve done so far. It’s not just about fighting games, I as well as many others, have become attached to him and the rest of CC crew and the sad part isn’t that he won’t be playing FGs anymore, but that we won’t see much of him anymore. I wish him the best of luck and I do hope that he comes back someday, so I can jump and scream while enjoying his speech once again.

There is some incriminating rumors spreading around that Gootecks was caught money laundering/rigging tournies. I’m not saying he did (I hope he didn’t), its something a couple notable figures in the FGC are now saying

There was a question in the thread asking earlier about the Gootecks / Mike Ross T-Shirt, well that’s not a problem because the Cross Counter Store is no longer available. We don’t know what happened and there’s alot of rumor, but there’s no doubt that behind the scenes somewhere is some serious white washing going on.
Can’t be true. He is leaving… he didn’t get let go. Something of that nature you know you get the PR rep making a notice of such a situation. An they wouldn’t have let him have such an exit.
