There’s a very fine line between sexual harassment and joking or trying to include the girl in the “group”.
Listening to this, I think Aris definitely went too far. At a certain point yeah you can talk about the elephant in the room of not many girls being fighting game players, and how there’s going to be creepers who hide behind anonymity to be as disgusting as they can, but when you become one of those people and encourage it on the stream, it becomes a problem.
As for the Marn and the other guy saying stuff on the WNF stream, I consider that just parody, but in the wrong place. When you go on someone ELSE’s stream, you should be respectful of the wishes of the owners of that stream. If you have your own stream, you can make fun of whatever you want to but these guys are trying to run a business.
I don’t personally think people should get mad about this making the FGC look bad, but they should get mad about being disrespectful to the very small percentage of women who play, and disrespectful to the people who do so much to support the scene. The FGC is what it is, and that’s the real draw, people saying we should change the way we are to appeal to e-sports style sponsors and whatever are missing the point. We have something that’s worthwhile, and if sponsors don’t see that, it’s their fault. It’s like saying to a girl or guy “love me for who I am”. We can have shit talkers and people that just say shit to piss others off because that’s free speech (of which I’m an incredibly huge advocate), but do it on your own time and not to the point of harassment.
