Good players you've come across

any of u guys come across a t.hawk player called kisscoooool??

Yep. He’s good. I always beat him in Hawk mirrors.

I met him once or twice I think, I don’t recall him being particularly noteworthy in any way though?

just out of curiousity, but who beat him at evo hdr tournament? i think i’ve seen 1 video online from that event, but it was the 3v3, and nohoho demolished him, assuming that was his ryu vs him. he is still maybe the best ryu online regardless.

DGV does really bad in a place like EVO. I heard he normally just watches.

so he did not enter the main tournament? only the side 3v3 tourney?

Ya I saw that video and knew something was up. He said he’s not use to playing with a joystick on the floor or some half assed chair setup. He’s the best RYU player that I’ve seen or played against currently, and I easily would have consider him the favorite in both tournaments if he was comfortable with the playing setup.

smokemare, what did you think of all that ‘drama’ that unfolded in that player room tonight. Nothing like a game of street fighter to stir up emotions

Ok…here’s a timeline:

B5 - Evo2K3, it was on cab…nuff said

2004 Evo: Never really touched ST before, so only played AE on casuals…hence why my brother and I only chose HF/SSF2 chars in the byoc room

2005 Evo: Only had the opportunity to stop at the event for several hours due to prior working obligations

2006 Evo: Didn’t attend

2007 Evo: Attended but didn’t enter…first year I really committed to learning stick with the hrap2…must have played a total of 5 games causually. I dabbled in the past with my old MAS, but never stuck to only using stick exclusively. At this time, I was still wondering what “gates” were best to use.

2008 Evo: Attended, but still struggled with alot of things on stick…thus I passed on it.

2009 Evo: Felt confident enough on stick to enter…however I didn’t account for the extreme differences between playing on a stand versus playing on the floor/chairs. I guess it was naive on my part to think that playing on them would be the same…I’m sure most of you arcade vets probably already knew this…but coming from a pad background, this was completely foreign to me. After playing some casuals & the 3vs3 tourney on Fri, I knew there was no way I could be competitive playing like that. At one point against Bruce Askew I missed 10 straight jb fireballs lol Afrolegends urged me to enter, but I knew it would be a struggle to just squeak into the semis…and I didn’t practice all that time for that result.

Despite not playing much it was cool chatting (brucelb, cole, zass, walton, zaspacer, kurrropi, fatboy, sweetjv, megaman, zoolander,hugo101,fudd,shag,truelson and the many others) :lovin: Special shoutout to Brian (Fatboy) for having a fellow old man rant about why we’re even still playing SF and for convincing me to try and learn to play on the ground :wgrin:

At the present…I just recently picked up a 360 TE and started playing on the floor exclusively this past week. I still have alot of stuff to adjust to with the new arm positioning.

On a side note, ggs Shari…despite the laggy conditions it was fun.

So…anymore questions?

GGs for sure, was lots of fun playing you.

Lol, very amusing, but it did make it quite difficult to concentrate…

To anyone who wasn’t there - there was this American dude, who sounded just like Shaft… Using really strong accented ghetto talk, he complained at Irrepresible for using Flash Kicks and Sonic Booms…

I wonder if it actually was Sam Jackson on the other end? And he was playing in character as Shaft?! It was eerie listening to it… He wasn’t a great player either - mainly spammed specials with M.Bison, and talked purposefully to distract people…

Having said all that it was really funny… At one point I think everyone in the 6 person room was shouting…

On a side note - good games, you’re definately one of the best Guile’s I recall playing - very, VERY difficult to get in on… Not really sure what I can do TO get in on you either, I say that because I often lose a few because my specials are missing or my timing is off, but I really don’t have an answer for your strategy at the moment.

LOL, what made even more funny is when everybody else just joined in, everybody just stopped playing and jumped into the brawl. It was like scene from an old cowboy movie

He kept shouting: ‘All you can do is fucking sonic boom and flash kick’

hello…im using guile

and then that prick ‘lil tester’ tried counter picking with akuma and almost got perfected, then after he got his ass handed to him he started shouting some shit about my guile being gay, lmao

That samuel jackson wannabe’s gamer tag was ‘BIG MEX 713’ He claims to be the best bison online lol

I’ve never encountered such in game rage before, I thought the guy was gonna explode. It was very funny though, specially when everybody just stopped playing and started shouting.

For guile v vega, I’d say its slightly in vega’s favour, if you keep mixing pokes and slides you’ll get the better of guile. Shari does well against me with his vega

Lol, shari does well against ME with his Vega too :stuck_out_tongue:

You didn’t quite get it right it was, “Hay’ll yo nigga ass beatch! Starp jost yoozin’ Flay-ash kee-ack and Sarnic bome, yo lame ayss nigga… At lee-ayst ah com ayn att-ack yo, enstee-ad oh jost stay-anden they-ar throw-ayn, sarnic bome’s and Flay-ash Kee-acks, beatch…”

And if that reads as hard to understand - you should have heard the guy saying it :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to laugh on ranked now every so often I meet people who remember me and try to counter pick me with Blanka, but now I tend to do very well vs most Blanka’s. In some cases people narrowly beat me with their shoto, and next time we meet usually a game or two later they go Blanka and I can lay the smack-down.

I don’t think counter picking really works unless you VERY good with the counter pick character as well as your main.

There isn’t any kind of adapter that works with SNES-style pads you use? Have you tried using the SF4 pads? I’d think that would be easier than trying to learn stick now. EVO would be better with you there at full potential.

The following are the best that i remember playing over xbl on hd remix.

Ryu - DGV

Ken - Wescyde

Chun - Mute Chimu

Zangief - haru teyjo

guile - TO13GO13

Dhalsim - fifthandsomebudd

Bison - Cvital

Deejay - Bruce askew

Thawk - None i can remember

Cammy - Damdai

Fei Long - Damdai

Vega - Immortal

Balrog - Afro ledgends

Blanka - Real Decoy

Sagat - Kj out the 17th

E Honda - NShogatsu

Akuma - Damdai

PS: these are the people i remember playing (eve if it was just a few times)i am sure their are other good players but this is solely my opinion based on the persons i have played against on hd remix on XBL. If ggpo St was included, this list would be different

Wow you’re actually a real person? Always thought you were some kind of robot like johnny 5 from Short Circuit.

shee

I dont know why nobody mentions me lol.Anywho, some of you know,Good enough i suppose.I played voltech quite a few times, personally i think hes a good chun.We usually play mirror(i main chun too)

the biggest whoopings i’ve received on xbox live have been against baconology101 and truapoc. i did manage to beat truapoc the second time i fought him tho, i was pretty happy about that

That’s a solid list right there

Thanks for the mention

Nah he’s real I meet him at EVO this year and he’s a real cool dude too.

Baconology101 plays a great Claw, really annoying.
