well am only talking about the hd remix online uk players
I know loads of really good players on neo empire fourms/offline and ggpo
only know 3 guys UK guys on xbox live that is good:sad:
All this talk about UK players is making me want to play properly again. I’ve been added by Planet but not replied to his message about a tourney yet. I don’t know all the UK players but orf and SMQ definitely stand out as being good. A major difference between them is that orf gives pointers and is a nice guy, SMQ just sends hate messages whether he beats me or loses to me.
I’ve seen quite a few Ryu/Ken players being mentioned that don’t strike me as that good. Perhaps I’m too comfortable with the match-up but for example Markyboy (a Ken player if I remember correctly) sent me hate messages for tick-throwing with Zangief. I asked him what am I supposed to do then and he said I should pick another character…
I suppose when you look at it from afar the UK is a small country compared to the scale of USA. So you are going to get more good players from USA than UK… it’s just the way it is. Plus SF in the UK is nowhere near as popular in UK as it is in the states. We have hardly any tournaments and the support/community is poor. So to see a few UK players shine through the wave of American players I would say is quite an achievment. Being the underdog can be hard sometimes, but it’s all about the challenge.
I can’t comment about Markyboy he seemed fine with me? Maybe I just got lucky. But we all get hate messages it’s just part of playing the game. Anyway I don’t want to ramble on, just my opinion.
yep mr.irrepressible’s guile is balls nasty. Its just oldschool pressure tactics but he uses that hideous new overhead well too.
lol orf sent me “rage mail” when I beat him
I think your assesment is a bit harsh, but I suppose who you are comparing them to. If you camparing them to the likes of top pro players like daigo, dgv etc
then you have a point. But if you comparing them to top xbl hdr american players, then I would say that the UK players I have come across are just as good, especially a player called U NO HURT M3, he is probably the very best UK player I’ve come across on xbl along with SMQ91.
so I guess I need to know who you have in mind when your comparing UK and USA hdr xbl players.
Swedish players REPRESENT !
Or something.
OK, so I?m from Ireland, and we?re definitely not a part of the UK, but for a lot of things including the street fighter scene we get thrown in to the same bag. As much as it kills me to say it, there?s definitely a difference in the amount of TOP LEVEL talent over here, but I think it?s because there?s always been a strong real world tournament scene in places like the USA and a great ?meet and play? arcade scene in Japan, whereas the best we get over here is poorly organized events of about 20 guys who?ve come from all corners of a small country to sit in a room above an internet caf and have a game night once a year.
There are a lot of lapsed players here, and the community took a lot of damage after the arcade scene died. A lot of mid 90?s players grew up and drifted away from playing street fighter, and the ones who didn?t found it pretty tough to get good competition for a few years in the middle before online gaming came along, so got a little rusty. Unfortunately the scene over here is either a small group of players like myself who are playing SF since 1991, and are total diehards but spent a lot of that time with nobody decent to play against so just played the CPU, or players who have just come into the 2D fighter scene since it?s resurgence in the last year or 2 and while good, are not AS good as the Japanese and USA guys who have been kicking butt for the last 18 years without stopping. The scene at the moment has lots of GOOD players, and is improving again, but unfortunately still has very few GREAT players.
There were a few years in the late 90?s-early 2000?s where I knew NO-one who played any kind of fighting games at all, so it?s a godsend to be able to play decent human competition again via the interweb. It?s not quite the same as being at Evo, but it?s better than playing the CPU because there aren?t any human opponents within a day?s drive of where you live. Give it a couple more years and if the scene here keeps getting stronger, I have a feeling that we?ll be starting to get back on par with USA/Japan.
I just fought Sharizord’s Vega - top notch player and look forward to fighting again.
GGs: You’ve got the most solid vega i’ve played so far.
I couldn’t agree with you more, explained it alot better than I could! ha ha
The best player that I’ve faced from Europe on HDR is a guy named xTVGx. Most solid Chun-Li ever. He hasn’t been online or let alone HDR in a looong time though.
street fighter in the UK is VERY POPULAR actually its just HD REMIX is not for certain reasons.
why you UK players not on the neoempire forums?!?!?!
I played Sharizord too, very good vega… Hmmm, I may have even messaged him to tell him so!
My top Vega’s I’ve met so far in no particular order - but who all seem a level above me at the moment:-
Sharizord
BL4CKB1RRD
Fricko Donno
And erm, one other - can’t recall the name - something like Nerdy Carrion or similar.
Personally I think it hurts me that for some reason - mirror match is my worst matchup somehow. I hate fighting other Vega’s.
Yes he’s a really good french chun-li player, i have done a lot of mirrors with him, and he’s pretty good.
He plays sf4 now
That’s a damn shame. I like the game well enough, but the online is garbage compared to HDR.
Jeffhizzle254 (Raging Storm on SRK) plays a mean DJ. MEAN I tell you.
I joined that, but can’t invite to game - do i need to make friends with people on the HDR EU list first before it lets you invite them? The option is greyed out.
Cheers
Chagathal - Honda
Had some pretty epic fights with him today in Cammy v. Honda. Considering the matchup I’m really pleased with how I did, especially because I almost took one set but lost 3-2. It also allowed me to work on my j. lk crossup into Hooligan. GG either way. Also…
C0rbul0 - Honda
Really cool dude, had some good fights with him too. Didn’t win the Honda matches but he complimented my play so I know I’m on the right track.
xOH MY GODx - Sagat
Probably the best Sagat I’ve seen online. I heard he’s a huge dick though…eh, whatever.
Corbulo’s honda is serious business
