Good partners for Dormammu?

I started running Dorm (a), Dante(a) and Trish (b) and I’ve had some good results. The Trish assist gives you a lot of combo opportunities to unknowing opponents and dante jam seesion combos off flame carpet into even more combos :slight_smile:

Anyone try out Modok? I am thinking of giving him a whirl and just going with a zoning team. His beam could help with pressure or his shield could help allow for safe setups for Dorm.

Dont Haggar and Tron’s assists do the same thing? You might be better off switching one of them out for a projectile assist to help you zone with Dorm. Just a suggestion

This is what I’ve been running a lot lately, and it’s been working out for me better than the Dorm/Doom/Sent team, but I think with that team it’s just about the starting order, not the group itself. Dorm/Tron/Sent allows me to start with Dorm on point. I’ve been playing around with Amaterasu for a while now too (well before the last major event), and am considering Dorm/Tron (or Doom)/Amaterasu, although that might be another team where Dorm works better as a second or third character.

how well does ur dorm do on point? ive actually been tryna avoid putting him on point cuz im not the best with him yet, specially wit no meter.ive been running shulkie on point to build meter for em recently. but if ur way works wit dorm on point congratz.

Well Im pretty sure any character is good on point if you are using Doom and Sentinel assists haha.

The Key to using him on point is being able to stop other zoners and rush down. Flame Carpet and teleports can really make Dorm seem broken sometimes. I still prefer to keep him 2nd so he can come in with 3-5 bars and tear things up with Chaotic Flame punishing and then chipping out the next person coming in with 2 Floating Fire balls and a bunch of Purifications.

I switched back to Taskmaster/Dorm/Doom (laser). The laser lets you combo, approach, and keep pressure on. I don;t like missiles for him since they dont aid much in dorms play style. He can already cover full screen with his specials and teleports, he needs to protect his front/head

My main team is Trish/Spiderman/Dorm. When I picked up the game I really liked Dorm’s simple setups and keep away game, plus he is very powerful and Stalking Flare > XFC> Stalking Flare will kill almost anyone if it hits, and eat shields alive forcing them to take the damage or XF. Shortly after picking Dorm up I found Spiderman to be a very good partner for him. He is fast and aggressive, and acts as a sort of counterbalance to Dorm’s more campy style. His Web Swing assist really helps Dorm keep the pressure off to build Destroy/Create. Chaotic Flame cancels well into max spider, and max spider goes perfect with stalking flare. Plus Dorm’s Purification assist is vital for Spidey because it allows him space to swing around and keeps people grounded so Spidey can fully dominate the air. Also, you can Web Grab/Throw from a Purification hit, but you have to space it just right. Trish was the last addition after some other failures. Her Peekaboo assist again helps Dorm with space control (and Spidey with webzips). Her hypers combo ok into Dorm’s moves, but I lead with her to build hyper and keep my options open. He ability to play rush or camp makes her perfect for the team. The only real trouble characters are ones with really good projectile game, like Arthur or Chris, though a good teleport with Web Swing cross up seems to counter them somewhat well.

I also have been experimenting with Liberation assist, but it would mean I would have to lead with Dorm which I don’t know it I want to do yet.

I’ve been running:
Dorm-purification
Wesker-Samurai edge
Doom-Rocks.

Assist wise i might change purification to hole simply because both doom and wesker pick up the OTG no problem, but chasing down spidey’s/spencers/sents without purification is such a hassle. That said i might give liberation a go. Samurai edge is a nice get the hell off me button and i’m sure can be used for more damage in some stuff i’m doing, and doom rocks may not be as defensive as hidden missile, but they’re a hell of a lot more offensive in both Dorm’s zoning game and dorm/weskers rushdown game.

Gameplan kinda depends but generally I play a more aggressive dorm since people just expect him to sit back and zone. Try to build hand’s and meter and don’t really do much until i DHC out with bomb to wesker and being my rushdown. I can play doom as well and i find in general i’m not lacking in DHC options and anyone on the team can build meter or kill.

With every fiber of my body, I hate Sentinel. I’ve had better luck using Dorm on point but still having trouble. Here is my team:

Dormmamu (purification)/Arthur (daggar)/Hulk (gamma charge)

If I put arthur in he gets smoked. Hulk, I can’t make a single mistake. Dorammu seems to be able to keep up w/Sent. I had a LOT of problems fighting a Sent/Dante (jam session)/Zero team. Any tips for my team?

well ive had sum practice with dorm against zero and sent. for zero u should learn his pattern of play(remeber what move he used to approach you,cuz more than likely hes gonna do it again), or if its ranked ALOT of flame carpet lol. and sent dies to teleport since hes so slow. either tele wenu see him spit or wiff a normal and its free XD.(havent fought too many sents suprisingly) and all dantes are different still dont know a universal solution but flame carpet FTW.

and ive been iffy about sent so far from my exp. it must b cuz i suck bad with em cuz ne time hes up i get massacred by rushdown. ive replaced him with tasky in the meantime.

chun,x23,zero,trish wud prob be a better point than shulkie but im worried about health lol

Hi, i love dormammu so i am planning to use it with storm but what other char can i put? i was thinking amaterasu becuase i feel dorm dark hole assist helps her so the team would be this one:

***Storm (Whirlwind - A) Amaterasu (Cold Star - B) Dormammu (Dark Hole - A)

ammy is a nice addition to any team. learn how to use her properly and she becomes godly. ur team has nice dhc synergy. but is team’s strategy pretty much keepaway? either way this is a nice team,(ammy has a nice rushdown too if thas what u wanted her for)

i was wondering, what’s the use of the “liberation” assist ? I thought that while pressing with another char, dark hole was a bit better. Liberation is not OTG :confused: i lost when trying to choose dormammu assist.

I found out he needs a battery to do so much damage (launcher BCS hyper level 3 purif-> hyper level 1 950k lol)
not knowing what to choose, i chose chunli, who needed an OTG assist, so i chose X23 (harder to OTG with than wesker, but i don’t like wesker). Too bad i wanted to use super skrull, but X23 looks better for me.

Anyway, what bothers me is that with
<chun (lightning legs)-X23 (low OTG) - Dorm (whatever, Dark hole for now)>
chun & X23 are in synergy, but Dorm is just a solo powerhouse for me, with A-purification to prevent opponent to jump on me.

So if someone find a good synergy with Dorm :slight_smile: tell me.

PS : i’m not able to do a C-Teleport crossup, if i do a down dash, doesn’t hit :confused:

well i am a rushdown player so with storm and ammy is pretty much what i am doing, with pretty good results, but are the assists that i picked up the best ones for this team?

I am assuming this is magneto, if so, why?

i say yea, cold star is perfect for the job(for any job for that matter lol) whirlwind i THINK can extend combos and is a nice gtfom assist(get the f off me). and darkhole can keep em pinned. but test and see how purification assist works for u. like if u see alota jumpins or w/e.

ur supposed to air dash forward and quickly press C. so u shudnt be able to see the full dash animation basically.

Pretty new to mvc3 and I love Dorm. Been experimenting with what team is good with him and right now i’m rolling with : Chris (Gun)/Dorm (Hole/Purification depends)/Doom (Hidden Missiles)
Doom’s hidden missile has saved my life more than once and I love Chris’ keepaway game. He also build up hyper bars nicely.
It works for now I guess.
Thoughts about it ?

I’m running arthur (daggars) dormammu (purification) hulk (gamma wave). Its taken me forever to find a team and stick with it. Very happy with results so far:D

Been trying out Mag(H. Grav)/Dorm(D. Hole)/???
I dont know who to use 3rd for this team.(Wanting a char w/ a keepaway assist that I’m decent with)
Been trying Trish, Zero, Storm, Chun, Skrull & Hsien just for her DF pendulum.
Leaning towards Hsien bc that assist is too good w/ Dorm.
Tips n Tricks?

IF you need an assist to keep opponents off of you, check out tron or haggar.

I like to have a battery on my team like dr doom or chun li.remember that in thecorner, you can otg people with flame carpet and have them fall onto your assists like rocks or lightning legs and then continue into launch.

The way i play, i usually keep my battery as the point character, then i put another character second that can hold their own. Lately, i’ve been leaning towards leaving dormammu as my anchor because of the damage he can put out with meter and/or x factor.

Tough to say tho.
