The more I use it, the more I like Rapid Slash for Dormammu. Dormammu is already the living obstacle course, and Rapid Slash is like a reset button. “Back to the corner with you!”
I’m learning Dormammu/Shuma/Vergil and switch Dormington’s and Verge God’s places as per matchup.
It seems like switching up character order to fit the matchup is the way of the future. Single team with flexibility > counterpicking with different teams.
Karst, are you running Vergil on point with Dormammu/Morrigan now?
Yup. I got tired of not being able to open people up with Firebrand. Vergil makes better use of the meter, and people tend to be afraid to call assists against him. Plus Firebrand has lots of bad matchups.
If the matchup is awkward for Vergil, I start the round with Round Trip, cancel into Devil Trigger immediately, and raw tag Dormammu or Morrigan in. If Round Trip hit, Morrigan still gets a full combo. If not, it was a safe tag, and I get DTed assists.
There’s so much meter buildup once Vergil makes the opponent block once. If I can get to 3 bars of meter, it’s pretty much GG unless I make a button slip. I can Rapid Slash into Spiral Swords whenever the hell I want, and I don’t even care if it whiffs or is blocked. Vergil can get one Dark Harmonizer call right when Spiral Swords go up, and he can get a second right when they go down. So, right as Spiral Swords goes down, I throw Round Trip to protect Dark Harmonizer. Then, as the sword comes back, I do s.H + Dark Hole and Trick Down immediately. Between the two meter calls, Round Trip, and Dark Hole, I build approximately 1 bar.
Vergil’s big weakness, that normal whiffs kill him, no longer matter because you can Devil Trigger any mistakes. The meter is always there. Rapid Slash gives Dormammu full relaunches anywhere while being high on utility. The DHCs between all 3 members are fantastic, with Vergil being one of a few characters that gives Morrigan full combos from a throw. No matter who dies first, my two remaining characters are terrifying together.
Plus it means almost always getting to Dark Angel once per match - who doesn’t love that?
I think the only character that might perform better with Dormammu/Morrigan is Zero, but he would have problems dealing with Vajra and Hidden Missiles. Vergil doesn’t.
Two teams I want to do with Dorm 1.X23(Ankle Slice) Dorm(Black Hole) Doom(Missiles) and Skrull Dorm(Black Hole) Doom unsure what assists to use for skrull and doom any tips advice

however im trying to find the best way to maximise corner to corner ( or a bit before midscreen) combos with Dorm, and im having dhc difficulties as well ( especially with vergil, hence why i think dante is a better fit…but the opp can sometimes flip at the end of chaotic flame and million dollars wont hit…)
with dante, im using jam session of course (godlike for the other 2) however getting the relaunch for dorm midscreen isnt as easy as it was in vanilla. any tips?
for vergil, rapid slash. a bit before midscreen, the only combo i found was flame carpet + assist into dark matter (charge) dark hole. im sure there must be another way!
Million Dollars will only hit as a DHC if done early in a combo or if you hit with Chaotic Flame from a low height. Any combo> Dark Hole xx Chaotic Flame and you should be able to DHC into Dollars.
You just have to learn the timing. Alternatively you can do: Combo > Call Dante + Flame Carpet > tri-jump :s: > st.:s: > finish combo

Yo how do you manage to defy hsd using dark hole assist for dante. I can’t get the timing down.
I’m starting to like Dante for Dorm. Jam Session is way too godlike for him. I love the fact that it helps snuff out Missiles/Vajra. I love Dorm/Doom, but I don’t see how effective it is against characters like Viper and Hawkeye (hell, even Chris can shut it down). Even with all the tricks you can use, it’s still tough for Dorm to protect Doom sometimes as consistently as Morrigan can.
Can’t you treat Jam Session as Missiles in playing the Dark Spell/Liberation game to a certain degree?
I think I’m going to settle on Dante//Dorm/Akuma and use Jam Session/Tatsu to build a big defensive/offensive wall around Dorm. As much as I like Magneto and Disruptor, Tatsu teleport crossups are just as good as Disruptor teleport crossups and Tatsu limits rushdown.
I guess you can call the team “The Great Wall of Dormammu”.

For the relaunch with Prop Shredder, you have to walk back like half a step after calling Dark Hole and then do Rain Shower (3H). cloud809er showed me that when I was still playing Dante/Dorm/Doom.
Trying Trish/Dorm/Doom now. It’s alright, I just wish any of Trish’s assists could help Dorm combo midscreen.
Its the timing that kills me.
It’s hard to do consistently, especially online. If you end up running that team I just mentioned you can extend Dante’s combos really well and build 3 meters in one combo.
You know, I was thinking the same thing about switching Hiryu for Dante because of Dante’s meter building and Jam-fucking-session. I like how Jam Session acts like Purification, only directly in front of you and comes out so fast. Now I just need to learn how to bold cancel… ugh.

projectiles: dorm normals eat them, dark holes eat projectiles, dark spells eat projectiles, and teleports put Doom in the other side of the screen.
rushdown: 2D1C, s.M/cr.L > flame carpet, stalking flare, dark matters, dark hole L is + on block, etc
and i would take mighty spark M assist over jam session for Dorm EVERY single time, you can even hitconfirm a s.M + call spark, flame carpet with dash forward, cr.H. Its that strong of a combination. Spark M does the same than Wesker OTG assists while helping A LOT in the neutral. I dont buy the “Jam session is a gdlk assist for every character” theory, its not that good.
no, missiles is a combo breaker with multihits and more lockdown, jam session is a wall of projectiles that every character with projectile invulnerability specials can beat. Seriously dont bring the tier list thread nonsense to this Dorm team topic. missiles and jam session are assists used for different purposes.
