I think that Taskmasters alpha assist would benefit Wolverine and Dorm to a greater extent than Wesker’s assists, but Wesker’s OTG assist is really good, and he is a great battery character to gain meter for Wolverine and Dorm. If you run with the Wesker team, though, you won’t have a projectile assist, which helps both Wolverine and Dorm.
In my opinion, both teams would work, but I think Taskmaster would be the better assist for Wolverine and Dorm.
Im thinking about running Dormammu because I was inspired by watching MastaCJ and I love playing keepaway…
So Im looking at trying to actually use VJoe (a)/Dormammu (a)/Wesker (b) at a high level…
So with Joe, Im rushing down the majority of the time and Im hiding my high/low mixups behing Darkhole. When i randomly decide to keepaway, laying down bombs and throwing Vrangs with Darkhole backing me up. Pretty annoying. Viewtiful Joe with his strongest one meter BNB is 610K. With the Chaotic Flame DHC or Run, its 800K… Not bad…
I play Dormammu like, well, Dormammu. Teleport mixups with Voomerang. Dormammu zoning. Unblockables, etc. I mean, you can look at MastaCJ playstyle. That’s what Im trying to do lol.
So with Wesker, Im doing the Viscant. If you don’t know what that means, then look Viscant up. In theory, Voomerangs should create a reset situation like Phoenix’s fireballs.
I wish I found some more shit out with this team…
Im also running Spencer (y)/Dorm (a)/Super-Skrull (y) for giggles and shits.
Easy question (I think); does Dorm need an OTG assist? I’m not sure what Deadpool assist would best help Dorm; I’ve been going back and forth between Katanarama and Trigger Happy. Thoughts?
I don’t think Dormammu really needs an OTG assist, since he can get the same effect by calling a projectile assist while tossing out Flame Carpet. That said, I don’t really use Deadpool in any of my teams, so Katanarama is normally my go-to assist.
I’ve been running a team with Wesker and Dormammu since I started playing the game, but I’ve had significant difficulties finding a third character, sorting out the right order for the team, and picking the correct assists. I started with Wesker/Dormammu/Hulk (in that order), but had huge problems with Hulk as while the damage boost from X-Factor was huge when he was the last character I had left, I could never get close enough to anybody to hit them unless they made a mistake (I realise this is obvious to a more seasoned player, but I’m new to the VS series). Using Dormammu as an anchor improved things a little, but I eventually dropped Hulk because I still couldn’t get in effectively due to lack of a helpful assist- Wesker’s OTG shot and Dorm’s Dark Hole don’t help at all against a full screen opponent.
Since then, I’ve been trying Wesker (OTG gun assist)/Taskmaster (horizontal arrows assist)/Dormammu (Dark Hole assist) in that order, which seems to work better. However, if there’s an obviously better character to pair with Wesker/Dormammu (or better assists to use for them) I’m very open to suggestions.
My other big question concerns team order, specifically Dormammu as an anchor. I read the thread devoted entirely to this matter, and there seemed no clear consensus on whether it was better to run him in 2nd or 3rd place for most teams (I understand some more specialised teams can run him in 1st, but I think I lack the skill for that). So would it be better to run him in 2nd or 3rd alongside Wesker and Taskmaster specifically? Any advice would be very helpful.
(PS: Just wanted to say thanks to Karst for making the Dormammu guide- it’s been very helpful!)
Along Wesker/Taskmaster, I would put Dormammu third, because Taskmaster is not a strong anchor.
For a third character for Wesker/Dormammu, Doom is a very popular choice, since both Wesker and Dormammu can abuse Plasma Beam cross-ups. Any beam assist would work, though. MastaCJ used Magneto. If you don’t like the beamers, a very fast projectile assist can work as well. Viscant uses Unibeam.
Edit: Oh, and you are welcome. I will be adding some more content soon.
DHC possibilites are great, Hulk can GTFO characters with his AA assist, Taskmaster can help Hulk with arrows, Taskmaster is good at range/close up, is not assist reliant like Dormammu/Hulk
Last time I messed around with Dorm I ran Storm/Dorm/Sent. Now I’m running Dorm/Tron/Sentinel.
Dorm at point isn’t exactly his best spot, I know. But, I love this teams zoning, FC Dorm provides a safe answer for any rushdown. And, shoud my opponent get past that, they have to respect Tron assist or get combo’d into Dorm’s B&B. This covers his weaknesses to rushdown, and puts the opponent right where Dorm loves the most, at the end of the screen. His zoning is usually the best in the game, combined with drones gaining incredible lockdown moments. This team isn’t exactly a DHC threat like Storm/Dorm, but it doesn’t have to be because Dorm’s supers cause quite enough dmg themselves. Overall, I like this team I’m gonna use it more often lol.
Chaotic Flame -> Lunch Rush -> Hyper Sentinel Force actually works, so the DHC synergy is solid. Wentinel uses this team; check out his matches, he’s a solid player.
I use Dormammu on point; I think it’s fine. Also, know that Tron’s Gustaff Fire destroys projectiles, so if you are having a difficult projectile war, call her out instead of Sentinel and she’ll protect you while you use Dark Hole or Purification to achieve momentum.
Others might be interested in this, but I have dumped Sentinel and now use:
Molecular Shield. It has the same slow travel time Sentinel Force does, provides the same cross-up opportunities, but you don’t have to use a bad character, and the assist is very very safe, because the windup period absorbs projectiles (very nice against Wesker, Magneto, Taskmaster, etc.), so it doesn’t get blasted away like Sentinel Force can. The windup period also provides a ton of blockstun for Dormammu to tinker with if someone is close to you, and it allows you to combo off of Flame Carpet when you call it simultaneously. Small characters like Amaterasu also cannot duck under it. The assist protects itself and occurs faster than Sentinel Force, so it’s very hard to punish outside of the startup frames unless your opponent has beam hypers. And (big and!) the rocks actually circle around behind Dormammu, and go up high enough to hit Dante right out of Air Trick!
That’s a ton of awesomeness, and the only thing you lose is longer lockdown.
