In other news, Nestor has convinced me to quit HDR for ever. Because HDR makes ST obsolete, that means I also quit ST forever.

While it may be my favorite game, and I really just started getting better at SFII games in general since HDR dropped (more time to play, more frequency in opponents), sadly I see no reason to help perpetuate this communities gargantuan charade with this series any longer.

Besides, SFIV is crack.

YOU’LL BE BACK PANCHO.

THEY ALWAYS COME BACK.

also I’m so fucking down for this… If I don’t have work that day :v

if not I’ll just show up last second and shit like i almost always seem to do

Your name is Steve.

That means your capricious and prone to eccentric behavior, but possess a good sense of humor…At least in my weird world of perception based behavioral name associations that is.

CHUCULAWT ICE CREAM.

seriously is to help me buy soda’s cups, plates and pay for my ligth bill since it slays skyrockets while having 4 TV on all day :frowning:

and for the chilli question if people are willing to pay me the food fee i will glaly make my broken chilli

I think I’m down for this, I’ll let you know if that changes. Probably for SF4 and maybe TF if everyone else is going to fuck with that.

if you’re actually good at cooking, you should just make a menu and charge like, 5$ for food. i’m sure if people like your stuff they’d be willing to pay. think of it like a ghetto paul’s lol.

I really have to fix that. I really didn’t mean to make you quit tho.

ps: say no to USA made remakes.

actually i am good at cooking the reason i dont like to do that cause i would spend all day cooking and i have to run tourney’s/ play in some of them. SO if i had a Gonzales menu id be too busy to do anything else

yo word up im not a fan of HD i just play it cause everybody else plays it

how come you don’t shit on it every chance you get like you do with SF4 then? :looney:

Why not jsut have people bring a 2 liter each or cups and you will have way more than enough. This is much cheaper for people. I hold more “events” at my place and my electric does not go “skyrocketing” and im running a 52"lcd 42"lcd and 23"lcdx2. But we all need our bread. But I still do not trust ur food

Yes Pancho stick with 4. It is better than anything else out there. If you stay with old games you will get stuck in that og vortex of every new game is not as good yadda yadda. Things change and new games will keep coming out. These nigs cant live in the past forever. Good gamers will adjust and learn to be good in any new game. Besides I cant play with those old atari gfx.

Again for gonzo l2play. All of us had to start from scratch. Moreso me and gabe than u. As we did not play a fighter in over 6 years. If that is possible for us, you can learn it as well. You need to quit with the whole “this game sux”. If it sucked so bad the japs would not be playing this religiously. It is simple as putting the time in. If you dont put any time in you wont get any better. Just cuz you played other games wont make you god in antoher. I believe herein lies your problem. You have many peoople that are good in your area, since you dont have the game go play with them. GO PRACTICE. Quit that tf bullshit and put the time into ur chun or akuma or whatever u play now.

ST is crack. Older games IMO just make more sense… ridiculous shit happens but in a way that makes sense. Then because it is so fast paced, it is just fun to keep playing.

**Yes Pancho stick with 4. It is better than anything else out there. **

That’s not really saying much.

If you stay with old games you will get stuck in that og vortex of every new game is not as good yadda yadda

But it’s true in our (Gonzales and myself) shared opinions. When a good game comes out, We’ll be the first to proclaim its majesty.

You need to quit with the whole “this game sux”. If it sucked so bad the japs would not be playing this religiously… Quit that tf bullshit and put the time into ur chun or akuma or whatever u play now

Like Fate Unlimited Codes or SvC Chaos and other things that were played religiously in the past. Popular in Japan<>good game at large all the time. The whole argument of “it’s popular, therefore it’s good” is bullshit anyways. Just respect that some people don’t like it. If you like it, it’s fair enough. Just because you believe Jesus came back in the form of this game, doesn’t mean you have to hate on other good games. Really now. I hate fanboyism.

Back to the thread. Gonzales, if you want to make food, I’ll help with the tournaments more, since I usually just sit back and let you do your thing.

But I still do not trust ur food

You should. Gonzales’ cooking is god tier. You really don’t know what you’re missing.

one time gonzales brought chocolate cake to GU and he let me have some.

Smiley, I love you. No homo.

Hey gonz if you want to make some money and would LIKE to server food just have me cook next time I can actually get up there and be there for the whole day. We’ll split the profit after the food cost, all you gotta do is buy the food. Making money AND you get to play fighters.

Also, if you take this idea I might add that you ask people what they want and how much they’re expecting to eat so you don’t end up with too much leftovers or too many hungry folks at the tourney.

Add me again :looney:

1:35 minute drive… I’m going, provided gonz doesn’t try to make me play TF again.

Haha, Sadly no it isn’t. That’s not to say I hate it, but there’s no question SFIV has a bunch of noticeable flaws despite being a fun game to play. Also, giving up on old games just because their old is perhaps the worst reasoning I have heard for dropping any game, as NKI says, if you’re migrating from game to game just because each one is new you are playing fighting games for the wrong reasons.

And SFIV is barely hanging on to a top 10 spot in Japan by the way, I wouldn’t call their playing of it “religious” by any stretch of the imagination, at least in comparison to every other SF. Even 3s is still hotter in Japan than IV.

Anyways, please don’t misunderstand me, Im not saying I hate IV, Im just making two points: A) IV isn’t god because it’s new and B) Im not qutting HDR/ST because of any reason you mentioned, I am quitting the game because the scene is imploding and the gatherings on this side of the fence aren’t big enough to warrant continued practice of the game.

Actually it says a lot considering the fighting game scene was all but dead after cvs2. Evo went from almost no one there to the biggest fighting game tournament ever from sf4. No fighting game ever racked up that many people.

You sure about you giving credit where its due when a good game comes out. The only thing I have heard either of you people talk about was ST and turtles. Is there anything that you consider “good” other than those games? Pls tell me what is so GODAWEFUL about sf4? I am very interested in hearing this.

I am not saying its popular so its good. Nor am I a fanboi. I have been playing fighters for way longer than you. I am the wrong one to be calling a fanboi. Ive played nearly every “popular” fighter competently(sf, tekken, vs). Can you say the same? Why accuse me of not letting people have their opinion. When I go to GU I dont think there is a SINGLE time i didnt hear “this game sux i dont know why you play it” or some variation. Actually Jesus may have just come back in this game now that you mention it. What every fighting game strives for is balance. I havent seen many games like this where 90% of the cast is tournament viable.

I never said this game is perfect as all fighting games are bound to have it’s flaws. These are the things you need to find ways around. Maybe this concept is too complicated for some but for anyone worth their salt they find ways. I only played this game for the first time when it hit consoles and am still learning. I dont get hit by one thing and throw my hands up and cry this game is terrible. If the mechanics and all that other stuff worked like st then this game would be called st. Is it? Nope its called sf4 hence a NEW game. Yes there is familiar characters and moves but ITS A DIFFERENT GAME. Just like any other new game you dont just jump right in and know wtf is going on just because you played something similar in the past. ALL of us have gone through and are still going through the learning process. Some fail and some get better. Ask yourself which one are you?

Actually on friday I talked to gonzo and asked him what his take was on sf4 and why he didnt like it. He explained to me and I told him the thought process and how to stop the things he thought were “broken” in the game. If you have the same thinking as him (which is seems you do) then you are sadly mistaken on why this game is “broken”. The issues he told me had very simple workarounds. Much of this info is also freely available right here on these forums that you are reading now.

I play fighters for the competition. From what I read, you seem to treat them like a piece of fine art. You only want to play the “perfect game”. If that is your cup of tea that is fine. I am sorry to have put you in the same category as a competitor and I sincerely apologize for attacking your way thinking. This was not meant to be offensive like the way you seem to be taking it. Nor am I trying to nitpick like you are doing to my posts.

BTW sorry for hijacking the thread

Im not saying quit anything. Im just suggesting playing more 4 is all. You seem to have the potential to do well in it and it would add to the competitiveness of our area. Like I said in the other post I play for competition. In MA the community is very small, as you are experiecing in st/hdr. That is why I play any of the popular games. You cant really progress playing alone. I guess this is now a moot point these days since there is online, but we all know it isnt the same. The whole reason me and gabe quit fighters in the first place was that there was no one to play anymore. Shortly after cvs2 came out no one was at goodtimes anymore, all the other arcades shut down, hence no point in practicing anymore. Somewhere along the line after that cvs2 picked up.

Sf4 is good because its probably one of the most balanced fighters in quite some time. The fact that its new, popular, has good gfx are just bonus. Maybe its not played religiously by all the japs, but most of them who were beasts in the past games ARE playing it plenty. Have you seen the crowd shots at gods garden tourneys? It looks like a very large crowd to me.
