i beat a gold lightan today by literally mashing C with ryu woop woop.
imo ryu rapes gold lightan, hard (can cancel into srk before moments of impact, easy damage)
to add on to what buktooth said, baroque is a must for golden lightan, i do 2b, baroque 2b, 42136C. that fucking kick step move is godly.
You can Kara/empty cancel his standing B, or Launcher in to grab, shit is too good, some characters can not escape when you add that much range.
Also, you can hit crouching B cancel into 360 grab, very hard to escape after knock down, they cant super or anything through it, the only option that works solidly is a tech.
And with his standing B or Launcher you don’t have to dash ever again.
Ok, so I just got back from my first Tatsunoko Tournament, I got 4th With LIGHTAN
I have a really hard match up against ryu, and it put me in to losers.
I whooped a karas ryu pretty badly, I had trouble with ryu at first, but then I found out standing A rapes ryu for free, especially if he trys to jump out.
Everyone was watching me play Lightan, he’s a fucking beast.
I realized his launcher can be easily canceled into Gold Kick which always hits!
Any vids, Koh? I would love to see a badass Lightan doing well in a tournament setting. Well done!
No videos =(, there will be another tourney on the 21st of feb will probably have vids then, but I play lightan, Karas/casshern so dunno if I’ll be playing lightan much in the next tournament.

I played him against a Veiwtiful Joe/ polymar/casshern. Right now I’d say Veiwtiful Joe is an extremely difficult matchup because of his redhot kick taking him across the screen.
I lost to a Ryu/Casshern. put in to losers. and the Joe/casshern team knocked me out.
But I did go 2-1, when I switched to karas/casshern.
Ryu isn’t as troublesome as I thought it was after my first loss, I whooped on a Karas/Ryu pretty badly.
If you use standing A alot, it stops them from getting out, then it’s just about mixing up with your Kara grab.
You can cancel his launcher for a Snap Back.
so are there any vids of a good lightan using kara throws to close the distance?
Also, how easy is it to mash out of lightan’s 360? PTX should never EVER attempt to grab, since it’s grab can be escaped very easily. Lightan’s body slam grab actually seems fairly fast.
They’re quick when doing on other characters, but when fighting PTX or Lightan, he throws them slowly.
360 on PTX = hot mecha on mecha action!
PTX vs G.Lightan is an amusing match to watch.
I’m also interested in seeing serious players use Lightan. There’s not a lot of videos on that.
I seem to remember that I was able to do something like a launcher and a short jump A, A aerial rave and then do his Gold crash… but I don’t remember if I was fighting another Lightan though.
Wait lightan has a kara throw? And I don’t worry about getting hit too much, just get in their face and attack them. Gotta take a few hits to get inside but once you have them in the corner, he is pretty gay to fight. 360 throw is retardedly easy to land, and if you do it enough, eventually they’ll miss a tech.
Thinking about trying competitive lightan.
on an off note, if u do Golden Crash on any robots (PTX, Casshern etc.) u will rip out a ball like thing which is the robot heart 
if u mix up ure 360 into ure attacks u can catch ppl off guard since it comes out fast.
Well it’s less like a Kara through, because you can control how far it goes (it does have a max range), I guess its more like an empty cancel or a whiff cancel, but I use the term Kara because just like in 3s it gives you a huge distance advantage.
if the opponent techs his 360 throw, does he end up in a disadvantageous position? That is, do they end up behind him, or right in front of him where he can go for jabs and stuff?
Hrms from my experience they tend to end up behind u and lightan will be alittle stunned wtf they wriggled out! but its not much of a biggie if u dun miss it alot so better not to spam. i think u can barouqe out of it which makes it pretty safe since as a giant ure always gonna have red life.
