Going to Japan, should I bring my stick?

I’ll be in Japan from Nov9-Dec1. I know arcades are still really big over there, so I’m wondering if I should bother bringing my stick when I go over there? I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt, but at the same time I remember going through a lot of hassles just boarding flights to Vegas for EVO with my stick.

No. You’ll primarily be playing in an arcade. If somehow you find yourself at a Japanese player’s house or a tournament, I’m sure you can ask to borrow a stick. Plus it leaves you more space in your luggage and less hassle to deal with.

No. Its not needed. Arcade cabinets have joystick on them.

Besides, wont you be doing other things besides gaming ?

Thanks.

Yeah, I’m well aware arcade cabinets have control panels, I just wondering if they often hold tournaments or other events on console over there.

They’re usually held on arcade hardware, since it’s so prevalent in Japan. Not worth it to bring your stick.

but u could use the stick to smuggle back some yummy dolphin meat

Have fun with dat mercury poisoning though.

I don’t buy the mercury poison thing one bit. All propaganda to deny us the sweet delight of yummy dolphin.

If you’ve been paying attention to a certain thread on GD, you already know japan needs you to bring a “stick”.

Also why is it so hard to take an arcade stick on an airplane? Do they think youre hiding shit in it?

When I went to Vegas they put it through the x-ray and got freaked out by all the wires and shit inside.

In America, anything that’s shaped like a box and has wires is a bomb. If you’re unlucky, they’ll proceed to destroy and remove everything from your luggage, not put it back, and not compensate you for any damage.

TSA is basically a small rebel army.

So basically this picture is true then?

If you’re trying to play Marvel, you’re gonna wanna bring your stick. Otherwise don’t sweat it.
