Oh, you!
Canāt wait for this movie. Funny thing is, only one of my brothers is hyped for this movie, not only is he the youngest in our family but their is almost a 10 year gap between us. He plans to come back up during the weekend so we can watch it together, with like one friend of mine only who also plans to watch it.
What I want to know isā¦who was a kid like me growing up in the 80s that used to nag your parents to rent old VHS tapes of Godzilla to watch? I certainly was one of them. All I want to see is that they show a few thingsā¦
Godzilla being an indestructible force in which the race of humans cannot hope to stop or contain.
Godzilla actually using his tail to smash his opponents or whip them across the sky like how the Japanese version does it (No, I donāt need him doing flying Liu Kang bicycle kicks, although that was epic to see as a child, it just wouldnāt hang now).
Godzilla showing some form of intelligence, instead of being a senseless āMonsterā, and no Iām not speaking Human Intelligence however possibly on par to say that of an Elephant or and Orca would be pretty cool.
Godzilla Atomic Breath being updated with the most current/best CGI will make for the most spectacular light shows. I mean it, his Atomic Breath better show up more then just once, and utilized at different frequencies too if possible, that would be awesome.
In the next feature film of Godzilla, that the NEW Antagonist is none other thenā¦King Ghidorah completely updated. That fight in full Great Looking CGI would be the greatest Monster Fight on Film, period.
Overall, the trailers look incredible as well as everything elseā¦I just have ONE problemā¦And that is a feature on Godzillaā¦
Spoiler
Honestly, I was never a huge fan of Godzillas feet, even for the Japanese version & had hoped that they wouldāve fixed it somewhat, however the American version gave Godzilla āSauropodā like feet (If you donāt know what a Sauropod is, just google that up) which looks even worse then the Japanese version. The broad almost tree trunk like feet look even less efficient for an animal that is also an adaptive swimmer, which makes me wished they wouldāve stuck closer to the Japanese Godzilla feet. Outside of that, I have absolutely No Complaints.
The other day, I was mentioning how hyped I was for this film on Facebook. My friend replied that he wasnāt sure why people were so hyped about the film when there had only been three Godzilla films beforehand and they werenāt really that good. I wasnāt sure if he was just being dumb or trolling.
God I wanna know the three movies he thinks are the only Godzilla movies. Probably shitty Hollywood attempt #1, King Kong vs Godzilla, and the original Gojira.
I assume the only 3 Godzilla films that saw a US theater release:
- Godzilla (1985)
- That 1998ā¦thing
- Godzilla 2000
A advanced screening review has popped up online, read at your own peril:
[details=Spoiler]The 3 points of reference are
- The last time you see Aaron Taylor Johnsons character is in a sports stadium.
- No original Godzilla theme, although our showing cut out halfway through the credits.
- Godzilla and a human character share a glance after Godzilla falls down.
Anyway youāre probably wondering what I thought.
This film was f**king monumentally awesome! I wanted to write a bad review just to piss off Aspie but I canāt. First things first the serious tone of this movie works incredibly well. Itās not so serious that you canāt have fun, the fun is all with GODZILLA. They nailed his character. Heās intelligent, badass and above all scary. Heās terrifying and yet youāre on his side to kick the MUTOs arse. Heās massive, and his ridiculous size is totally believable: every step, every roar, every movement carries so much weight. His roar is sooo loud, I was watching this in a screen with a Dolby sound system and it shook the room, literally. if this doesnāt win an Oscar for sound design Iāll be surprised! It was like the first time you heard Jurassic Park.
I could cream more over how amazingly well they nailed the G but I think that sums it up. They nailed Godzilla. Oh and his atomic breathā¦I needed new under wear.
The MUTOs were fantastic. I donāt want to give too much away but they surprised me by being so sympathetic. At one point during the films climax I felt like I wanted them to kick Godzillaās ass and take over the world but I wonāt go into it. Youāll have to see it for yourselves.
All the human characters were great, Aaron Taylor Johnsonās character Brody was my favourite and Bryan Cranston steals the opening 30 minutes. But his character does pass the batten onto Brody who goes through a lot of shit but itās all executed perfectly. Not one character was boring or a drag to the films pace, which was fine, it didnāt feel too long or too short, just right.
There were a couple of things I didnāt like just to balance this review a little 1) No Godzilla theme but the music was so awesome anyway I didnāt miss it too much. Just once would have been nice. 2) A lengthy daytime battle. 3) More Godzilla!
However donāt get worried by those last two points thereās a lot of other stuff and plenty of fantastic stuff going down with what we have that as a Godzilla fan I was satisfied greatly!
This felt a lot like a Godzilla film from the Heisei era with all the weight of the original. Itās ridiculously well made and I canāt wait to see it again, and again, and again. Iām so glad I didnāt watch the trailers because I was in awe from start to finish.
Film of the year I guarantee it.[/details]
^Can we get just whether or not they thought the movie was good, bad, or middle of the road?
Thereās few actual spoilers in there but the jist is:
Iāll field this one, hereās a quote regarding real robot fiction that is 100% relevant:
"CAUTION: Large feet required to evenly disperse weight in a fantasy cartoon environment."
Think about it!
Wouldnāt want to be that Olsen skankā¦stuck between a rock and a hard place.
SOLD
well, I was sold the moment I even heard they were making this.
So apparently MUTO is an abbreviation for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism.
I barely realized that Heisenbergās son is played by Kick Ass.
Thought that was Rodan for a minute, but its too black to be him.
Iām getting tired of people seeing Muto and thinking itās something not Muto. Theyāve explained like a billion times MUTO is the only thing in this.
Possible end credit scene when it hits real theatres, everybody who has seen previews has had credits cut short.
LOL! Dumb bitch running without looking where sheās going.
What was G doing before he stood up? Taking a nap??
Heās been de-confirmed for a while now bro
What is that awful image and why would anyone waste their time making that
