War of the Monsters was the shit back in the day.
Yep, on pretty much every non-DC console and generation since the PSX I think weāve had one. Some of them actually pretty good too from what I understand.
- :bluu:
Not every G monster but pretty damn close.
Not sure if this trailer was mentioned.
That guy talking? Robert J. Oppenheimer.
The man behind The Bombā¢.
God damn.
Spoiler
I fucking JUMPED, yāall know when. Anyone else justifiably flinch?
they were tons of fun, but a little too basic. Still a great multiplayer game.
I saw the trailer last weekend at Captain America at the iMax. Holy fuck that movie actually looks terrifying. Iāve never been one to be too excited about Godzilla, but the way this new movie seems to build tension with the cinematography and music and overall toneā¦I canāt wait.
Well, yeah! This is what happens when you take kaiju completely seriously; they are completely justified as terrifying. lololol.
As in my last post with one of the main leaders of the Manhattan Project doing a voiceover of the first trailer.
Why is it relevant, you may ask?
Well, remember that nuke in one of the trailers? That was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Bravo, in this context.
That was the absolute largest nuke the USA has ever used or had available in itās history, and not too far
behind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsar_Bomba, which is the absolute biggest artificial explosion in history
so far. They used it on the Big G, here. It failed. Badly.
It only pissed him off., and maybe gave him the atomic fire breath(IIRC, from official stuff).
The most powerful, legitimately apocalypse-worthy weapons we have so far, IRL at thatā¦
and even though he got nicked(the scars seen and mentioned on him so far, likened to symbolize keloids, i.e.
what most survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had after the bombings), that was it; now he just wants us dead
more.
Itās one thing to have an indifferent force of nature start wrecking things.
Itās another to have one actively pursuing our extinction.
So, Death, Destroyer of Worldsā¦ overshadowed a massive, vindictive desire for our total oblivion.
This is why I get chills from the trailers lol.
That and a large-scale reptilian āthingā is merely improbable, not impossible.
Take a Komodo dragon, figure out how to make them even bigger(theyāre the size of small cows lol),
bring them up that little step to conscious thought(those things are SMART) and BOOM.
Thereās a marked difference between cosmic horror stories(i.e. Lovecraft) and speculative/science fiction;
Science fiction is only that way for so long.
And with that, Iām losing sleep tonight. Donāt be TOO death-seeking, future biological engineers!
Not quite.
Do you know why whales are smaller today than they were in the dinosaur days?
Do you know why reptiles donāt grow larger than the Nile alligator?
Carbon dioxide. Something that large actually canāt grow in this environment, this climate. The thing about Pacific Rim - they were from somewhere else. Godzilla is physically IMPOSSIBLE in this day and age. Not only that, if he was a deep sea creature, his lungs would collapse/explode upon getting on land. Itās fun to āwonderā about whatās out there in our seas - we know more about space than we do our own oceans, but there is a reason everything is āsmallerā now than it āused to beā. Iām not even going to get into being able to support itself on land.
- :bluu:
Indeed! That is a factor, as is the square/cube law.
But, even so, we ourselves have some stuff that doesnāt necessarily bow to that: http://www.gizmag.com/vanadium-dioxide-micromuscle/30217/ (thatās equal to or STRONGER than what made the Jaegers
in Pacific Rim able to move, let alone stand under their own power)
And, Iām pretty sure itās nothing future biotech canāt "mitigate."
Technology marches onwards, for good or ill!
So many hours dedicated to that game with friends.
I still think Kinteticlops had one of the stupidest, awesomest designs of any kaiju iāve seen.
O shi
ā¦Oh shit indeed.
This is a Zilla you can and should AVOID. I still remember the Oppenheimer V-over trailer, and with thisā¦
Goddamn. The big G wants death.
I think this will probably be one of my favorite depictions of G next to GMK Godzilla. I donāt recall any films just showing him as a force of nature really.
The thing is, thatās what he is.
Heās been looked at as a joke, non-seriously, etc because of inaccurate depictionsā¦
This IS accurate, and that means everything falls into place.
Goddamn Man Behind The Bomb(J. Robert Oppenheimer) voicing over some of the trailers; fucking chills, doesnāt help that he was in the programs
and was booted out for OPPOSING them. And in this? The most powerful nuclear weapon we had, Ivy Mike(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_Mike), shown in the trailer,
wasnāt enough.
Nor does it help that the Big G isnāt technically impossible; mess around with Komodo Dragon genome enough, do enough splicing andā¦
This will be a movie people will agree itās fine to be scared out of wits for. Ooof.
Hrm?
Every version of Godzilla is an Accurate Depiction of the character.
Really now?
Donāt make me kill you.
Most up until now depict him as a being that can be reasoned with conventionally, or not
out for our utter extinction. Doesnāt help that heās usually taken fairly non-seriously.
Godzilla is a KAIJU. Kaiju are titanic abominations who want us all dead.
That is fucking scary, especially considering a fair amount of them arenāt biologically impossible.
Try again.
What is that from? Looks terrible.
Spoiler
That movie never happened. Forget about its existence.
And whatever Toho wants the Big G to be like is an accurate depiction. Considering its their character and they can really make him however they want to.
lol heard from ROAR from ticket booth when I was there to see cap last week. not even sure where the preview was. downstairs or somewhere up there. RAWR MOTHERFUCKER! :looney:
