Godzilla: King of the Monsters May 2019.Trailer out!

The only time another monster has shown up when the series rebooted was in Godzilla 2000 and nobody even remembers Orga.

Orga was a beast in the Godzilla games for Xbox.

One of the biggest gripes in the last Godzilla movie (besides the fact that wasnā€™t fucking Godzilla) was that he didnā€™t fight any monsters. They are trying to remedy that in this movie. Major monsters like King Caesar, Hedorah, Gigan, these are monsters you arenā€™t likely to see right away in a Godzilla reboot of this level.

However the more famous Toho monsters (Rodan, Mothra), could EASILY be in this movie. Hell, Anguirus was always in Godzilla movies, so maybe even he will make an appearance. The fans want them, and it makes more sense to at least use some of the classic Kaiju, rather than just make several new ones that may very well flop.

Since Godzilla in this movie is supposed to be a force of nature and was discovered in 1954 rather than a side effect of nuclear testing, why was it seemingly dormant all this time? Do you think itā€™s because Muto invades that cause it to ā€œawakenā€ and ā€œdefendā€ Earth? Humans are just in the way, of course. :coffee:

The general consensus is Godzilla hibernates after battles

Godzilla goes napping after every rampage/fight.

wonder how many of you are going to be disappointed when its not going to be a monster from the other Godzilla movies

The atmosphere and mood established in the two trailers is awe-inspiring. That use of red, that terrifying audio cues. The movie is also going to use dolby atmos.
Strong cast + great visuals + great sound. Just missing the plot, which we only can approve of when it drops may 16th. Iā€™m fucking excited. Could this be the breakaway hit? Itā€™ll need powerful word of mouth to compete with all the sequels

The whole ā€˜dormantā€™ thing just reminds me of Cloverfield.

I like the whole ā€˜bombing himā€™ thing, but it does sound like Cloverfield.

Cloverfield got most of all their ideas from Godzilla movies

Oh I agree with that, but Iā€™m accustom to Godzilla being man-made - despite the more recent changes - so to me - right or wrong - Cloverfield was based more on ā€œOh shit we didnā€™t know this existed on our own planetā€.

I still want a sequel to Cloverfield, but not some shaky cam ā€˜redoā€™, I want to see the adult version come out to play shrug.

Godzilla has been a force of nature since Godzilla 2000. This really isnā€™t anything THAT new, just more elaborated.

from what I heard, there will be a sequel, and the Cloverfield monster was just the baby :stuck_out_tongue:

Almost every Godzilla movie featured a brand new monster, why should I be disappointed this time around?

Ever since the showa era nearly every movie was brand new monster(s)

As long as these new monsters are good I honestly donā€™t care.

Most of the Godzilla 2000 series hes in some slumber, or frozen in some ice to be awakened to save the world.

Even in Cloverfield when it had the little creatures fall off of it. It reminded me of megaguirus or destroyah

Best Godzilla origin was GMK. Godzilla is depicted as a demonic beast possessed by the souls of those who died in the Pacific in World War II. This film returns Godzilla to his roots of being a genuinely malevolent being who deliberately seeks to punish Japan for the sins of WWII.

I swear if the majority of the movie is the motherfucking military trying to gun down Godzilla and/or whatever monster he fights(if there is even one), I will be pissed. Thatā€™s what made the Transformers movies pieces of shits, along with the fact that Michael Bay directed it.

I hate when thereā€™s a large human element in these kinds of movies.

The big difference with transformers is that the bots themselves are characters. They have personality, background, interaction. The transformers were the stars of their element. But bay removed it, stripped them of what made them what they are

Godzilla is a giant monster, he has little personality (grew a bit in showa as defender of earth, but otherwise not much but it is his presence that captures us. Thereā€™s always a human element in Godzilla movies, always a military angle to try to stop him

Yeah, humans in giant monster movies are always a neccessary evil. After all, they ARE trashing their world, itā€™s not like it can be overlooked when they level a whole fuckin city. And it would be pretty boring to see humans just running around and screaming (and dying, most of the time). You have to fill the gaps somehow between monster brawls. Hell, even Final Wars did this, and it was mostly just a Kaiju Royal Rumble.

As dodgers already explained, Transformers are different since they can be treated as humans in the sense that they can be characters in themselves. Giant monsters usually donā€™t go past the ā€œdestroying shitā€ phase. Iā€™m actually pretty surprised that they can add so many human factors in them to be quite honest (see Godzilla vs. Destroyah).

I would be more worries if they kill him with a bridge and two rockets again

The american godzilla is dead and always will be
