I personally think it’s retarded how good Sentinal is in this game. I’ve spent soooo many hours with my actual team, learning all the properties of their moves, the best ways to get that initial hit in, and what my most damaging combos mid-screen and corner are. Then out of frustration to losing to another 4th Lord(I’m only 7th yet keep getting put up against them) I decided to try out Sentinal. He’s not OP or broken, or atleast no one has made him so yet, but it’s incredibly easy to 100% low health characters with just him.

j.S, M, S, j.M, j.H, j.S, Rocket punch, Hyper Sentinal Force, Plasma Storm

The same damage takes all three of my characters on two other teams I play not to even mention the execution is so much more difficult. Sentinal is just EZ mode.

Sentinel was ideally the same in MvC2, high reward, no real risk outside of the fact that he still gets demolished by the right rushdown and mixups.

People beef with him in this game the same reason they cried about vanilla Sagat, and they were just as right then as they are now. Using Sentinel takes alot less skill then say Thor or Haggar, and utilizing him on your team just because you know this makes you a douche. However, when it comes to fighting games, you do what it takes to win, ethics for a fighting game or just in general can’t be compared, and its your sixty bucks so spend it how you want.

You’ll never hear me once complain about Sentinel, cause if I lost to that player then I wasn’t as good as I thought I was, but I will say that nearly every person who uses Sentinel is the reason why after awhile its nothing but Sentinel/Dante/???, just a samey group of unoriginal fucks waiting for the next top player to give them something to dickride. The fact that it took days to get the “Play against every character once” achievement is a sign that most of you suck for it.

But fuck that crying shit, personally I won’t touch the big guy because I don’t like him, and I want to do things differently. I use odd characters like Hsien-Ko or Spencer, MODOK, She-Hulk, and Joe, obviously not all on the same team, but the game is pretty well balanced. Everyone has an Anti-Sentinel option, some more effective then others.

This threads name is perfect though, stop crying and learn to fight him, and if you can beat him then more power to you. He’s still nowhere near as good as Phoenix is with meter, or as braindead as Dante, but he’s pretty much the safest pick you’ll ever get, especially online where Super-Armor is twice as gdlk because of lag.

I just want to say, that apart from my two cents, fuck the wishy washy haters, or the “If you can’t beat them, join them crowd.” If you don’t like Sentinel, then man the fuck up and beat him, if you like Sentinel then by all means use him, but if you’re too big of a bitch to experiment and learn how to play the game with different things and just say he’s better suited to your team even if you don’t like him, then eat shit.

Imo hypocrites are even worse then the Zero/Dante/Sentinel retards.

I would have believed that had justin not made sent look like shit on so many different occasions. Like I said I am not for either side cause its too early to tell, but just an FYI I am sure magneto can dash in and punish a whiffed :s:, and I am 90 percent sure he can gravity squeeze a whiffed :s:, while taskmaster should be able to arrow hyper it, but I don’t know about dashing in and punishing it(don’t know much bout tasky).

My entire point is give the game time, yes he does look pretty beastly at the moment but so did zangief in vanilla until people learn how to deal with him. Ice man and cable seemed beastly in mvc 2 when the game first dropped as well, now cable is the worst of the top 4. Just give the game a little time.

you guys got to realize phoenix isn’t a big deal. the guy in x factor 3 with a dark pheonix is as nervous as you are. one wesker super dashing combo or one ryu super fireball is all it takes to get rid of a dark phoenix. you also have the advantage of knowing when they will change… so lets leave phoenix out of this shes easy to beat i do it almost every time i face her.

sentinel on the other hand is almost impossible to beat if you actually put some time in the character. theres a guy named RUFIAN MX who i can never beat because of his sentinel he’s currently ranked number 2. i play this guy a lot and when someone actually learns the character it is near impossible to beat them.

X-Factor level three Phoenix isn’t whats scary, its phoenix in general with one good assist and they know what they’re doing. The character is designed like Strider, in that the best way to lose is by suicide because they’ve got little to no flaws elsewhere.

You give Phoenix just alittle bit of meter to burn, and a great assist like Akuma tatsu, Tron Flame, or Doom Missles, and you’ll see why she’s more of an instant threat then Sentinel is. It’s not that he’s overpowered, cause by comparison he’s alot harder to deal with once you let him get away, Phoenix can play better keep away or better rushdown then virtually anyone else with the right circumstances.

The problem is the “Comeback” perception, that Phoenix can only be used as a wild card, so when she becomes one-dimensional and has to do it all by herself she’s still scary, but alot more beatable. My Phoenix isn’t that great yet, but I will say that I’d take a team of ass sentinels any day over one really skilled Phoenix player and a good assist. Even with Morrigans meter building Assist, the QCF or QCB supers are game changers in DP mode.

People dislike Sentinel because he’s alot like Rufus, or Balrog, or even Vanilla Sagat from Street Fighter 4. It takes little to no time to be good with him, and alot of his shit seems like its auto-pilot for a ton of damage, when a She-hulk has to work her ass off to win.

Yeah, no. They didn’t patch MvC2 because it’s well-established, and none before MvC3 were even on patchable consoles. So this argument is sort of fail.

If there’s a time to patch a game like this, it’s soon, in order to let everyone get used to the changes again.

As a She-Hulk player, I agree. Do you know how long it took me to do She-Hulk’s mission mode? A good half an hour because I was stuck getting the timing right on a couple of missions. Sentinel? I was doing unfly combos in 10 minutes.

Spencer gives Sentinel a hard time, especially with meter and X-factor. Haggar can stun him easily cause he’s so big and slow, and lead pipe is mad good against his hurtbox. Phoenix can…well you know, go dark and stuff.

Sentinel does not give me much problems. However, X-factor lvl3 Sentinel does, and I can say the same for half the cast with lvl3 X-factor. Same with phoenix. It only take one combo to take her out with my team, but let her hang and get 5 bars, it’s impossible to win with my team.

I think the problem is most of you players are combo fiends; spending the match trying to get in against the zoning machine to do a big combo and when you do, you get whacked into the air for 70% of your life. Instead of blaming yourselves, you blame the game.

If Sentinel didn’t have damage or armor, what good would he be? he would be a giant walking target and no one would care cause nobody likes him.

Well, I’m gonna be nice because you posted like 10 times in this thread. Sentinel in level 3 x factor is insane. True. But so are a bunch of characters, maybe it just isn’t as apparent because sentinel punishes you with simple to do stuff. But that isn’t much different from getting hit buy hulk level 3 or hell anyone else…

To combat it, you could always snap back so that u finish sentinel early in the match like you would do against a phoenix. OR, you could always pop x factor when he pops x factor, or you could always just turtle up when he is in lvl 3 x factor by flying, super jumping and just being a safer player. You don’t have to eat laser chip all day if you dont want to. Understood it isn’t easy to dodge but cmon.

And if youare complaining about some other sentinel shit, like lasers or spamming launchers, then i dont know how you are ranked 40 online cuz that shit is easily avoidable/punishable.

IMO sentinel is fucking pretty beast tho. Great assists and fucking great all around moves/specials. has a fucking kara throw too? cmon… But still, far from unbeatable and huge hitbox makes him combo meat.

MSP had the same “it never wins a tourney!!!” problem in MvC2. Still devastating if you don’t plan for it.

Winning doesn’t correlate to annoyance factor. I might destroy somebody playing a team, but I might also be really f*cking annoyed that they’re being coddled by the game as opposed to needing to work.

In casual, you can point this out to people by picking their own team right back at them and destroying them. In ranked (and it sounds like he plays a lot of ranked if he’s ranked that high), you’ll just keep getting annoyed.

Obviously not as bad as people made him out to be if top 4 at evo 09 was completely sagatless, but thats another argument for another day. What determines of a strategy/character is overpowered? If using him lends you easy wins and reduces the requirement of skill in a said video games. In other words, if the better player loses because he doesn’t have sent on his team, sent is obviously overpowered.

That was the case in marvel 2, you couldn’t win with just any team, and top 50 at evo was always loaded with sentinels, In fact I think MSP was the only team that didn’t sport sentinel in MVC 2. That my friend is an overpowered character. Obviously sent is not in this game since the better player(justin wong) consistently wins without him, say what you will but if sent was half as bad as people said he was justin would not be winning without him.

Also keep in mind there are multiple levels of OP, sagat in 4 was considered OP not because of how good he was(he was good don’t get me wrong), but because he didn’t have a single bad match-up so you didn’t have to worry about getting counter picked at tournaments, most of his match-ups were 6-4 and 5-5, thats not OP, go play ST akuma or SF 3 chun-li and you will know OP. And even with that, daigo, the better player, still prevailed.

But at the end of the day you have to ask yourself what the purpose is of your complaining? Even if capcom eventually nerf him, the worst thats gonna happen is they might reduce his damage and maybe take away the hyper armor on his :s:, he will still be a bruiser, who does tons of damage and has tons of health. You either add him to your team, or learn to deal with him. Im doing the latter and its working out very well for me.

The only reason you dont see a ton of Sentinels is because he is OP and players want to show you that they can win without the easybutton assist. You dont see a lot of phoenix either do you? exactly. Most Good players get a sense of accomplishment winning with a team of characters that you actually have to be skilled to use. To be fair though there are three characters who just eat sentinels lunch Dormammu ammy and phoenix. when I play ranked Dormammu is always on my team but to be honest I hate having to have an anti sent character in my lineup.

Not sure if I agree with that, most top players don’t look for moral victories or any of that shit, considering they are usually playing for decent sums of money. If sent was a win button you would see more players using him, ala marvel 2.
