Alright, after extensive playtime, Wesker/Thor/Tron is legit. It’d be nice to see someone other than me use the team because my Tron is ass, and my Thor needs work. But Mighty Smash and Gustaff Fire extends Wesker’s combos nicely (two OTG’s, first Mighty Smash to extend, then Fire and you can throw reset afterwards for extra damage), and Wesker can build a ton of meter for Thor.
His Samurai Edge makes for nice pressure with Thor Tridashes, and Gustaff Fire helps Thor on Defense.
I really like the team, but again…would like it to be used by someone who isn’t ass like me.
So, gentlemen? Who do y’all think would provide an assist that’d be good for both Thor and Modok? Thor will be on point and Modok will be the second pick.
After recently realizing the power of Haggar’s lariat assist, I plan to experiment with Thor(beam)/Sent(drones)/Haggar(lariat) for a bit. In theory, it seems like the drone and lariat assist cover thor’s general weaknesses: defense against rushdown, and safe approach. We’ll see how this works out the next time I play against some hewmanz. Also, DHCing out of Thor’s stuff seems like it sucks, at least out of standard b&b into air mighty strike xx mighty tornado.
Saitsu, I like the general dynamics of your team; it sounds like it could work quite well. The only thing I find worrisome is the suboptimal use of meter… Wesker as a battery makes total sense, but Thor (at least to me) is another battery-- or pseudo meter-user at best.

Well with thor, I have the option to use meter (which I have to because as of now, I haven’t mastered his resets). Tron if she ever comes in can abuse the meter she gets.
But once I master my resets, my meter can be more utility based rather than being a focal point. I can save it for snapbacks which people don’t use nearly enough, DHC options, or for Alpha Counters.
Again though, I don’t have mastery over the team. I’m still not using the optimal Wesker combos, I don’t have Thor’s resets down, and my Tron is just bad…
Very unique and powerful team. Viper acts as a combo extender after each air combo ender and Iron Man is the beam Assist to help Thor close the distance or help Thor with Fireball wars when opponents duck under his Iron man covers the bottom offering excellent chip damage and mix ups.
The trick with Thor is mastering his flight to get around and starting flight from the ground when safe to call assist while you float.
I use 2 air dashes in flight mode to chase full screen and drop down with H or Mighty Strike H or M. If you can keep moving Thor at a very fast pace he can be a scary threat. just be wary of mashing cr.L characters on the way down. You can block those if you land and just block only.
Note: it is very difficult to make Thor function online because lag messes with his speed. L inputs to beat others can fail a lot when your inputs don’t come out as fast as you press them. Play Thor with caution againts mashy opponents and try to read them and punish their mistakes and never try to out footsie mashy type characters like Morrigain or Wolverine, you will lose.
For wesker fans you can use Weskers Samurai Edge in replace of C.Vipers. I play viper out of taste and originality.
A sucessful Slant Shot is a free Mighty Tornado, and Lariat sets up Mighty Tornado combos. As an assist, Mighty Spark helps Haggar get in and I can set up hoodlum launcher with it. Since it’s slighty delayed (M version) I can use it as a crossup with Spencer’s zip line.
I was thinking of a Thor-centric team, with two assists that: pin them down, helps him get in, and might also work as an AA GTFO move. I was thinking of Taskmaster (any assist), and I’m drawing a blank for a 3rd. Maybe’s Akuma for his Tatsu or Shuma’s Mystic Ray.
After actually learning the game a bit, I decided to come back to mess around with Thor, and I have to say that Thor-B/Dormammu-B is absolutely nuts. 75% off of one meter in the corner with free OTG from Purification Tower? Yes, please. I’ve got Sent with drones closing the team out because you can do some pretty sick zoning with Thor on point and Sent drones covering Mighty Sparks.
I would recommend iron man as an anchor because he switches from rushdown to keepaway really well with thor and modok. I would say that I have a rushdown modok and his beams will help both thor and modok to get in. IM’s beam - if it hits - keeps the opponent grounded making it really easy to extend your combos. Plus, IM has decent damage and combos and he rules the skies
I have Thor, Dormammu, and ultimately will be Phoenix. But until I learn the game replacing Phoenix will be either Wesker, Iron Man or Shuma. Just got the game so trying to see who works best for me.
So I toyed around with Thor/Dormammu (Thormammu?) a few days ago, and yeah, this is super legit. Dormammu running second works really well because any Thor air combo into Mighty Tornado will DHC and combo – combo! – into Floating Bomb, which gives Dorm all the time in the world to charge up three hands and go to town. Got three Powers of Destruction on their way down? Well, now they can’t throw anything. or they die. So that’s funny.
I discovered this entirely by accident, which was the best part; the first time I tried it I thought that the opponent would recover mid-DHC and be forced to block the whole ball. So finding out instead that they can’t do anything but watch themselves bounce, well, I dare say I was quite pleased with the whole thing. power of the power of the power of the
Holy shit. Holy shit. I didn’t want to believe you, but this ACTUALLY works. Just replaced Deadpool with Dormammu to make my team Thor/Dormammu/Spencer. I am a firm believer in the Thormammu!
So, I’ve got my official Thor team, now. Thor (Mighty Smash) / Amaterasu (Cold Star) / Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles). I could claim that I’m playing this because of how awesome Cold Star and Hidden Missiles are for Thor, but that would be a lie. I’m playing this because Thor, Amaterasu, and Doom have the three best themes in the game and I just want to hear the sexy music during every match, LOL. Coincidentally, they happen to be really, REALLY good together.
I’m trying to run Thor (Mighty Spark) /Amaterau (Cold Star) /Dante (Jam Session). The main reason is they can all dress in white and look awesome in it. I like all 3 characters, however, none of them make a good anchor. The more I play with Thor, the more i think he should be starting the match or be 2nd, he needs all the assists he needs to get in and keep out. Ammy is versatile enough to play any position, however, his damage output is not great with Xfactor. Same can be said to Dante.
